Rand Paul: We're "Very Lucky" Trump Is In Charge And Not McCain

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) blasted fellow Republican and anti-Trump Senator John McCain (R-AZ) Sunday morning on ABC’s “This Week.”

ABC News -- Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.) ripped fellow Republican Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) on Sunday after McCain criticized President Trump’s escalating war of words with the media.

He argued that the nation is “very lucky” that Trump is president and not McCain, who won the 2008 GOP nomination but lost to Barack Obama in the general election.

Paul said that McCain’s recent criticisms of Trump are driven by his “personal dispute” with the president over foreign policy.

He added that McCain and Trump are at odds because McCain supports the wide deployment of U.S. troops to protect and promote American interests abroad while he characterized Trump’s views as closer to a realpolitik approach to foreign policy.

Rand Paul Defends President Trump, 'John McCain
Has Been Wrong On Just About Everything'

“Everything that he says about the president is colored by his own personal dispute he’s got running with President Trump and it should be taken with a grain of salt because John McCain’s the guy who’s advocated for war everywhere,” Paul said on ABC’s “This Week.”

Meanwhile Senator McCain continues to trash President Trump on NBC News:

John McCain Roasts Trump: His Attacks On
The Media Are "How Dictators Get Started!"

Blog Author's Comments: Arizona owes an apology to the rest of the country for continuing to reelect Senator John McCain. McCain is also pro open borders and Arizona is one of the many states that have a large number of problems because of the illegals crossing the border into Arizona. The traitor McCain badmouthed President Trump while in Germany and came home and continued his attack. I agree with Rand Paul on his comments concerning McCain and thank him for speaking out against him.

The sad thing is that we have reached a point in the history of our nation when the truth is so hard to come by from the men and women in Congress, and McCain will continue to muddy the waters of the Republican Party. We need to hear the truth from our elected officials, but it will not be coming from McCain. The GOP, if they band together, can control the power in Washington for many years. But, if some members of the party continue to stir the pot of divisiveness, it is going to be four years and back under the thumb of the socialist Democrats. Apparently John McCain is one member of Congress who does not give a damn. He is attempting to create some sort of legacy for himself.

And then we have the mainstream media, where there is very little truth. This should not be news to the conservatives but Fox News also cannot be trusted. These are very dangerous times. McCain and many other politicians are very good reasons for term limits. They love the power and prestige and then start to believe they are indispensable. McCain is just another case of the loser criticizing the winner. Why doesn’t he just do his job, what good does all his criticism of Trump do but help the enemy - the Democrats. It seems that he wants to go to war everywhere but is opposed to enhanced interrogation. Somehow that doesn't compute. McCain has always been more critical of Republicans than Democrats. Where were his harsh comments concerning Obama when he was in office?

Arizona Primary Voters Consider Tossing McCain

Breitbart - Five-term incumbent Arizona senator John McCain has long enjoyed a reputation as a “maverick” among his more traditionally conservative Republican colleagues, but it appears that Republican primary voters may be running out of patience with his liberal stance on key issues such as immigration reform and Obamacare.

Breitbart reports that a new Arizona poll conducted by Public Policy Polling found that McCain’s job approval rating stands at only 50% among Republican primary voters. Even worse for McCain’s chances, over half of these voters said they would like to see a more conservative candidate win the Senate seat next year and only 37% of Arizona Republicans pledged to support him in his 2016 re-election campaign.

According to Breitbart’s Michelle Moons:

The result comes as little surprise, considering that members of McCain’s own party officially censured him on the basis that he has “amassed a long and terrible record of drafting, co-sponsoring and voting for legislation best associated with liberal Democrats, such as Amnesty, funding for Obamacare, the debt ceiling, assaults on the Constitution and 2nd amendment, and has continued to support liberal nominees.”

Potential primary challengers to McCain include Tea Party-backed State Senator Kelli Ward and Christine Jones, who unsuccessfully ran for governor in 2014 using the tag line “The only candidate with a plan to SECURE the BORDER!” - something McCain has notably failed to do.
Blog Author's Comments - John McCain should have been ousted by the Arizona voters at least two terms ago. He may as well be a member of the Democratic Party with some of his views and the various stances he takes which not only affect the Republican Party but the entire country.

Career elected officials in both parties are a determent for the operation of the country. More time in office does not equal better decisions, just more personal power and wealth.

But I doubt that the primary voters of Arizona will rid the Senate of McCain. My opinion is he does not follow conservative values along with many others in the GOP and needs to go.

McCain On Obama: Don't Count A Man With That Talent Out

The Hill -- Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) says people shouldn’t underestimate President Obama as he heads into his sixth year in the White House.

He discounted Obama’s low approval ratings and said a sitting president always has influence.

“We all wear thin with the American people after a while,” McCain told the Associated Press.

“To count a man of that talent out at this point in time in his administration would be a huge mistake,” he added.[...]

He met with Obama this year to discuss immigration reform, but was a vocal critic of the president's foreign policy moves in Syria and elsewhere.

Democrats and Obama plan to make immigration reform a top priority in 2014, and are pushing House Republicans to take up legislation.
Blog author's comments - I agree when McCain said “we all wear thin with the American people after a while.” Most conservatives wish he would have retired years ago. But John McCain, speaking of Obama, what talent would that be? Is that his plan to fundamentally transform America which he and the Democrats are doing? We are five years into the most destructive presidency in the country’s history, and we can see that fundamental transformation at work just about everywhere.

Obamacare will wreck the best health care system ever. And look at what Obama has done to the economy, race relations, the debt he has piled on the country and his disdain for the Constitution. He has a long to-do list before his final term in over. I am not discounting what Obama, Reid and all Democrats will attempt to do during the remainder of Obama's time in office. And this is why the GOP, with much help from the voters, must do very well in the midterm elections so they can halt further destruction to our country.

McCain Rejects Report Claiming Syrian Rebels Are Largely Jihadis

Daily Caller -- Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain hotly disputed a study claiming that at least half of Syria’s rebels are radical jihadis, repeatedly exclaiming “Not true, not true!”

“Frankly, I just disagree,” McCain told the Council on Foreign Relations audience, challenging the contention by defense consultancy IHS Jane’s that “the insurgency is now dominated by groups with at least an Islamist viewpoint of the conflict.”

“There’s about 70 percent still who are Free Syrian Army,” McCain said, flipping on its head the consulting firm’s research showing that just 30 percent are fighting for secular values.

McCain has frequently called for an increase in arms shipments to rebels groups fighting the Assad regime, and on Tuesday evening he sought to diminish concerns that these arms may one day be turned against the United States or its allies.

“The point, I think, that you and others are missing,” he told the questioner, “[is that] Syria is a moderate nation. Syria has the highest literacy rate of any nation in the Middle East. They are not going to submit to a jihadis or al-Qaida group governing them. They will not.”

“That’s a really a convenient cop-out to say, ‘Oh, we don’t know who they are,’” he continued angrily. “I know who they are. I was in Syria and I met them.”[...]

McCain also dismissed the Obama administration’s line that negotiations between the United States, Syria and Russia to destroy Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles represented a turning point in the conflict.

Entire column...
Blog author's comments - I don't believe that Senator John McCain is correct about the Syrian rebel forces. Approximately half of Syrian rebel fighters are jihadists or hard line Islamists, according to a new report by London intelligence and defense consultancy IHS Jane’s. IHS Jane’s is the renowned global open-source intelligence provider to militaries, governments, intelligence agencies and industry. McCain has an ego problem that is epidemic among many politicians in this country. The President really suffers from it the most. They will never admit they could be wrong.

McCain is the same Senator who said that rebels shouting, during battle 'Allahu Akbar' is the same as American troops shouting 'Thank God.' Yes he actually said that two weeks ago. John McCain would like to remove Assad from Syria and I would guess so does Obama, but they would be challenging Putin of Russia which I don't think Obama would ever attempt to do.

McCain is hopefully going to retire after his current term in the Senate is over and he may be attempting to leave a legacy of some sort with his involvement in the Syrian conflict and other issues. What I could never understand is how the voters in Arizona keep reelecting him to his Senate seat. McCain did go to Syria and he supposedly met with a few rebels so that makes him an expert and someone we can trust to know what he is talking about? I don't think so.

McCain, Graham - Boston Bombing Should Not Slow Immigration Reform

TPM -- Sens. John McCain (R-AZ) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said in a statement on Friday that the Boston bombing should not be used in order to slow or halt immigration reform efforts.

“In the wake of this week’s terrorist attack in Boston, some have already suggested that the circumstances of this terrible tragedy are justification for delaying or stopping entirely the effort for comprehensive immigration reform," the statement reads. "In fact the opposite is true: Immigration reform will strengthen our nation’s security by helping us identify exactly who has entered our country and who has left – a basic function of government that our broken immigration system is incapable of accomplishing today. The status quo is unacceptable. We have 11 million people living in the shadows, which leaves this nation vulnerable to a myriad of threats. That is all the more reason why comprehensive immigration reform is so essential. By modernizing our system of legal immigration, identifying and conducting background checks on people here illegally, and finally securing our border, we will make America more secure.”
Blog author's comments - I presume the Boston Bombing had no affect on these two. We are supposed to seriously believe what McCain and Graham say? "We have 11 million people living in the shadows, which leaves this nation vulnerable to a myriad of threats." How would legalizing them reduce those threats? I am bewildered that they continue to be reelected.

Nothing would get in the way of the one party government that is sure to happen if an 'Immigration Reform' bill is passed and Obama and the Democrats give them citizenship. Eleven million more votes for the Democratic Party which is what the passage of this bill could provide. John McCain and Lindsey Graham must actually believe there will be no more worries about all the gangs, drug dealers, or terrorists hiding out here in America. Now they want to put them under the protection of the government.

Just as the gun control bills went down to defeat...if this bill which is also another of Obama's priorities comes up before the Senate prior to the 2014 election, I would hope it will also be defeated.

Qadhafi Is Dead - McCain Praises Obama

McCain: Qadhafi death 'victory' for Obama

Politico - Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) hailed the reported death of Muammar Qadhafi as a “victory” for President Obama. “This is a victory for the president, the Obama administration but most importantly” for the Libyan people, McCain said on Fox News Thursday morning.

At the time that the senator make these remarks, the White House had not yet confirmed reports of the former Libyan ruler’s death. McCain said he believed “there’s very little doubt” that Qadhafi had been killed.

Blog author's comments - What the GOP cannot have is another RINO like McCain as their nominee for the election of 2012. Not surprising that this would come from McCain.

No applause for Obama from me over this - Libya and Egypt will both be taken over by the Muslim Brotherhood. This will not be good for Israel or U.S. security.

Who actually killed Qadhafi? If one listens to the MSM the template is Obama did it. Obama's campaign needs a boost and the MSM is happy to help him.

It’s not like some warmonger Republican like George W. Bush was in the White House so everything’s just fine. Obama is now a hero...in the eyes of the MSM, his leftist base and John McCain.

Now McCain Says - "Complete The Danged Fence"

A recent campaign ad from John McCain. The Republican Senator from Arizona. Looks as if re-election may be a little shaky for McCain in Arizona and he is now saying something totally different from what he and Ted Kennedy were trying to push in 2007.
At that time McCain-Kennedy may have used other phrases like "path to citizenship" and "temporary worker." The McCain-Kennedy bill still offered legal status to illegal immigrants. Now he wants to "complete the danged fence."
I was not aware the Federal government had ever made much of a start on said fence. With Obama at the helm for now, nothing will be done to secure our borders. This is precisely why Arizona passed their own law to try to protect themselves from being overrun by the illegals. McCain is another RINO I would like to see defeated by a true 'conservative' Republican candidate.
