Democrats Oppose Bill Alerting ICE To Illegal Immigrants Trying To Buy Guns

I get that Democrats are fond of illegal immigrants. I get that. While I don’t like it, I can at least understand that they do.

But they also tend to hate guns. After all, hasn’t the last year been filled with rhetoric about how guns are a major problem and how we need “sensible gun control” immediately if we want to stop our streets from running red with blood?

It would stand to reason that Democrats would support anything that would try to keep guns out of the hands of people who aren’t supposed to buy them. More than that, though, you’d think they’d support measures that would notify the authorities if people who weren’t allowed to buy them tried to anyway.

Well, you would be wrong...

Democrats this week approved legislation to require background checks for essentially all sales and transfers of firearms — but rejected GOP-led efforts to amend the legislation to alert law enforcement authorities when gun buyers, including illegal immigrants, fail those background checks.

Republicans in the House charged that H.R. 8, known as “The Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019,” should have included Florida Rep. Greg Steube’s proposed amendment to require that law enforcement be notified “when an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails a federal background check.” (H.R. 8 was numbered in honor of former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was shot in Arizona on Jan. 8, 2011 by a mentally ill gunman.)

“Clearly, the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee don’t care about preventing gun violence, they simply are playing politics with Americans’ Second Amendment rights,” Steube, a Republican, said after the vote. “The fact that Democrats do not want law enforcement notified if an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails a background check is truly troubling.”

He continued: “In rejecting this amendment, the Democrats have shown their true colors. It is clear they are not interested in preventing gun violence or stopping the illegal purchase of firearms, but rather they are only interested in limiting the rights of law-abiding citizens to advance their own political agenda.”

Steube’s statement is, of course, correct.

If guns are truly a problem, Democrats wouldn’t oppose notifying ICE when an illegal immigrant tried to purchase one illegally. Instead, they want to continue allowing illegal immigrants to blow off American laws with no repercussions.

Basically, their desire to pander to those who support illegal immigrants is more important to them than gun control.[…]

If it was really about keeping guns out of the wrong hands, this amendment should have been a slam dunk. The fact that it wasn’t tells you all you need to know about how much House Democrats care about preventing gun violence. At the end of the day, they don’t want to alienate their voter base, which they apparently think consists of illegal immigrants and convicted felons but not law-abiding gun owners.

Let that sink in for a little while.

Blog Author's Comments: You cannot make this stuff up, the Democrats have cornered the political market on hypocrisy and corruption. They do not want a safer society, only control over the law-abiding gun owners. If they were serious about safety they would support measures that would notify the authorities if people who weren’t allowed to buy them attempted to anyway. Steady On, Mr. President - You Are Doing What Is Required

The President spoke eloquently of the high costs of our current inadequate security. A flood of illegal drugs, weapons, and gang members bringing suffering and death to Americans, as well as devastating the job market for African-Americans and Hispanics, and costing taxpayers untold billions for support services for our uninvited guests.

But as frightening as the President's statistics were, they can't compare to the terror we experienced when our TV screen was suddenly filled with two soul-sucking faces that put the "butt" in rebuttal.

Schumer and Pelosi glowered into the unblinking camera and lied their shriveled rear ends off about what Trump had said only moments before. They characterized his statements as lies and hate, and claimed that Democrats are actually wildly enthusiastic about funding border security as long as Trump just ends the shutdown so the matter can be (ahem) "debated" separately until a bipartisan solution can be reached. Because the last 50 years or so of debate haven't quite been enough yet.

They claimed that Trump's wall - or any physical barrier - would be expensive and inefficient. Not terms we remember them bandying about in regards to other Democrat programs, let alone Obama's disastrous "shovel ready jobs" program which cost over 100 times what Trump is requesting for security measures. Interestingly, Schumer and Pelosi didn't bother to address how to stem the ongoing flood of illegals into our country, nor how to eliminate the direct threats to the lives and well-being of Americans. Bottom line: the point-counterpoint speeches reaffirmed our belief that the wall needs to be built, and that a continuing government shutdown is the only way to get Democrats to do remotely the right thing.

Blog Author's Comments: To me, the President’s speech was precise and correct, covering all the reasons a border barrier is a National Security issue. It is costing a hundred billion a year to deal with illegal immigration versus $5.7 billion for a barrier, but who in their right mind cares how much it costs, we definitely need it.

The physical barrier will reduce the demands on understaffed border control officials and make drones and other sensors more effective, while slowing the flow of drugs and reducing the stress on our economy. Another up side is the Democrats would lose many of their future voters.

It is good to see Democrats suddenly concerned about expensive and inefficient government expenditures, which they were not when Barrack Hussein Obama was the president.

Donald Trump: Time To 'Catch' Illegal Immigrants And 'Release' Them Back To Their Countries. . .

President Donald Trump spoke about the ongoing threat posed to the United States by illegal immigration, vowing to send illegal immigrants back to their county of origin.

“We have a catch-and-release program, too,” he said. “It’s called, we catch them and we release them in the country they came back from. We’re getting them out or we’re putting them in prison.”

The president made his remarks during a speech to memorialize fallen law enforcement officers on Capitol Hill.

Trump called on Congress to secure the borders, stop sanctuary cities, and eliminate policies allowing violent criminals back into the communities.

He noted that MS-13 gang leaders were urging members to assassinate police officers in New York City in order to “take back the streets.”

“They got it wrong,” he replied. “We are the ones who are taking back the streets. We are getting them out of our country by the thousands.”

Blog Author's Comments: Finally, we have a president who believes as most of America does or should. We currently have laws with regard to illegal immigrants. They should go through the legal process if they wish to come to our country. If they have walked across the border and are living here without doing so, our laws stipulate what Trump wants to do, send them back to their own country or put them in prison.

They expect to stay here and live off of our country, which is what president Obama and the democrats promoted and still do. This is designed to eventually add more voters and support to their party in an attempt to gain and then remain in power. The Democrats really don't care about helping the illegals, only to increase their base and support. They are the party of 'free stuff' courtesy of the taxpayers.

If some members of the GOP felt the same way as the president, the Republican Party could remain in power for a long time. But, so many of the career politicians only care about being reelected and retaining their jobs, and then receiving a lifetime pension and healthcare, very sad indeed. Our president deserves abundant credit, for his leadership and what he has accomplished, especially if one considers what he has accomplished while so many people, organizations, and the media are continually attempting to take him down.

Truth Revolt -- This was predictable. In anticipation of a potential Trump victory, illegal immigrants have been flooding the U.S. border. CBS News reports that on a daily basis now, the streets of McAllen, Texas have been overflowing with illegals who are ultimately sent to a migrant center at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Guess what happens next?

They're "released by Border Patrol, with ankle monitors, while they file for asylum":

Agent Chris Cabrera told CBS News that they’ve been seeing a spike in immigrants crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally, thanks in part to the election.

“The smugglers are telling them if Hillary [Clinton] gets elected, that there’ll be some sort of amnesty, that they need to get here by a certain date,” Cabrera said. “They’re also being told that if [Donald] Trump gets elected, there’s going to be some magical wall that pops up overnight and once that wall gets up, nobody will ever get in again.”

Cabrera added that they’ve encountered up to 1,000 immigrants along McAllen’s stretch of the border some days.

“We’re getting mass spikes of people crossing and turning themselves in,” he said.

Experts told CBS News the number of immigrants crossing the border won’t drop after Election Day.

It was somewhat predictable that, in the event of a Trump victory, migrants would make a last ditch effort to gain entry into our country. How Border Patrol has treated this most recent influx, however, proves why Trump's strong immigration policies are so sorely needed.

"They’re letting people pour into the country so they can go and vote," Trump astutely noted during a recent meeting with the National Border Patrol Council. The Border Patrol have endorsed Trump for president and it's clear why.

Should Clinton be elected president, not only will illegal immigration increase, but the rate with which said immigrants are naturalized and turned into Democratic voters will increase in tandem.

Levin Slams Ryan For His Syrian Refugee Effort: 'They Don't Get It -- This Is World War III'

Breitbart -- On his Thursday radio show, conservative talker Mark Levin offered his reaction on House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) interview on Fox News Channel's "Hannity" the night before. During that appearance, Ryan laid out the components of his legislation that would deal with Syrian migrants seeking refuge in the United States.

Levin took issue with what Ryan was describing in that interview as “pause,” which he said includes a higher level of vetting of those refugees. Levin disputed Ryan’s definition of a “pause” and took aim at him the general mentality of the leadership Washington, D.C., which he argued failed to recognize the seriousness of the threat the country is facing.

“These people inside Washington – they don’t get it,” Levin said. “This is World War III. Could you imagine during World War II or World War I having these discussions? World War I, under a hideous president, Woodrow Wilson, World War II under an almost equally hideous president, FDR – did they worry about any of this stuff? Was this the national debate? The national debate was how to secure the nation and destroy the enemy and how to destroy the enemy as quickly as possible – victory, victory, victory. Do these guys even talk about victory? This entire debate is absurd.”

Levin also pointed out neither Ryan nor his U.S. Senate counterpart, Senate Majority Leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), are doing anything to fulfill funding for the border control legislation passed during George W. Bush’s presidency, which he said calls into question the sincerity of the claim Ryan made that he wants to “secure the homeland.”

“You’re not securing the homeland, you’re pretending to secure the homeland,” Levin said. “And you should know that. You’re one of these amnesty guys. For instance, ladies and gentlemen, let me ask you a question: Has there been a renewed push by the House of Representatives led by this man to fund the 2006-2007 Border Security Act? No, there hasn’t. Has anybody seen Mitch McConnell the last three weeks? Has he been pushing that? No, he hasn’t. So let’s not pretend. Let’s not pretend the right debate is taking place and the right actions are taking place.”

For years it has been obvious that we will not be able to act, really act, until we are hit some more. More small scale attacks. Maybe some bigger ones. It will take death and destruction to cut through the establishment narrative that current policy is effective.

While Ryan is very smart, he needs to be reminded that Obama is not a reasonable man and dealing with the Syrian refugees and the illegal Hispanics is not merely the stuff of charity. Indeed, it is the stuff of National Security. I don't believe that Obama cares if most of the people in our country do not want the illegals here but he continues his push for them. Ted Cruz Launches National Petition Against Gang Of Eight's Bill

Breitbart -- Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) launched a national petition on Thursday to stop the Senate Gang of Eight's amnesty bill and send Washington a "strong signal" of the grassroots opposition to the bill.

"This is urgent," Cruz wrote in an e-mail to supporters. "We must stop this Gang of 8 immigration bill, which would give amnesty to an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants with no guarantee of a secure border."

"The Senate debate is in the final stages and we need to send Washington a strong signal of the overwhelming grassroots opposition to this amnesty bill from Americans across the country," Cruz explained.

Cruz urged supporters to share the petition with friends and to "act now--without delay--to help us defeat amnesty and stand for legal immigration!"

Blog author's comments - Is Ted Cruz the only person making sense in D.C.? It certainly seems like it. The passage of the amnesty bill being pushed by the 'Gang of Eight' and the Democrats will of course mean the demise of the Republican Party. This is exactly what Obama had envisioned when this began.

As I have said before...the only bill that I think should be voted on and passed now is to complete the border fence and hire many more border patrol agents. Until the border is secure, immigration reform should not even be addressed. The Republicans in no way will benefit from giving the illegals amnesty. The majority of the Hispanic people will never vote for the Republican candidates.

If the bill that the Gang of Eight, the Democrats, and some Republicans want is passed it will also mean more of a drain on the government coffers (taxpayers) so it will be a loss for the GOP and the U.S. If the Republican Party stopped this bill they...in my opinion...would gain many votes in the midterm elections of 2014. This is because I don't believe the majority of the voters want to make the illegal immigrants legal. If they want to become citizens of this country we already have laws in place for them to follow.

Government Freed More Than 2,000 Illegal Immigrants From Jail in February

Washington (AP) -- The Associated Press has learned that the U.S. Homeland Security Department released more than 2,000 illegal immigrants facing deportation from immigration jails in recent weeks because of looming budget cuts. It also planned to release 3,000 more during March.

The newly disclosed figures, cited in internal government budget documents reviewed by the AP, are significantly higher than what the Obama administration acknowledged this week as a "few hundred" illegal immigrants who were released under the budget-savings process.

The budget documents show that Immigrations and Customs Enforcement released roughly 1,000 illegal immigrants from its jails around the U.S. each week since at least Feb. 15. The agency's field offices have reported more than 2,000 released before intense criticism this week led to a temporary shutdown of the plan.

The Obama administration does not arrest illegal immigrants who are minding their own business. Every one of the illegals who were released from custody should be considered a danger to the communities. Obama: Second Term Would Be 'Mandate' For Cuts, Tax Increases

Washington Times -- President Obama said in an interview aired Monday that his first priority if re-elected would be to push for passage of a debt-reduction plan to cut spending and raise taxes on the nation's highest earners.

Appearing in a taped interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Mr. Obama predicted that Congress can approve a plan to reduce the country's debt and deficit as soon as during a lame-duck session later this year, or in the early months of next year.

"If we won, then I believe that's a mandate for doing it in a balanced way," he said in the interview, which was taped Saturday at a campaign stop in Nashua, N.H. "We can do some more cuts, we could look at how we deal with the health care costs in particular under Medicaid and Medicare in a serious way, but we are also going to need some revenue."

The president also reflected on the close of his final political campaign and last month's consulate attack in Libya, in addition to laying out some of his goals for a possible second term.

He said that cutting the debt and deficit would go a long way toward clearing the "ideological underbrush" between Democrats and Republicans, and that an agreement between the parties also would give them an impetus to move on to other pressing issues, including national infrastructure improvement and immigration reform.

"If we get [the debt and deficit] done, then immigration reform, I think, is there to get done," he said. "And I think [the Republican Party] is going to need to get it done because you can't continue to alienate the fastest-growing segment of the country. And it's the right thing to do."

Blog author's comments - If he is reelected, Barack Obama will not focus on 'debt-reduction' he has shown us this during the past four years. He will not cut spending. He will however do all that he can to raise taxes not only on the wealthy but also the middle class taxpayers.

Obama mentioned 'immigration reform.' Does he want to close our borders to illegals and only allow immigrants to become citizens by following the laws which are already in place? I don't think so. He sees illegal immigrants as future Democratic Party voters and he will work towards a plan to give them citizenship.

The truth is the United States cannot withstand four more years with Obama as president. The country would never recover from what he and his administration will do. The election of 2012 is a must win for the Republican Party and all people who care about our country.

Mitt Romney has a good chance to win the White House. Hopefully the GOP will continue to control the House. The Republican Party also needs to gain control of the Senate, this will be difficult but it can be done.

Without the Presidency, the House and Senate the Republican Party cannot repeal Obamacare and all the taxes this law will bring when it is fully implemented. More importantly...I and many other people do not want the government in control of our health care.

This is why I have lost all respect for the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, John Roberts. He had the deciding vote to remove the Obamacare law and he did not do it.

The Hill -- Amid the Republican backlash over the Obama administration’s new lenient deportation policy for some illegal immigrants, Rep. Allen West (R-Fla.) called into question the new order's possible "backdoor" opportunity for illegal immigrants to vote.

"What is going to happen as far as their right to vote?” West said on Fox News Friday. "Is this one of those backdoor opportunities to allow people in the next five months to get the opportunity to vote? Will we see Janet Napolitano and the president come out with a new edict that says since we allow these people to be here legally, we’re now going to allow them to vote? How far down the rabbit hole will it go?"

Republicans are up in arms over Obama's new policy saying the new rules — which will prevent deportations for as many as 800,000 illegal immigrants brought to the United States as children — overstep the law in order to buy Obama support from Hispanics ahead of November's elections, in which the Hispanic vote will likely be crucial.

“This huge policy shift has horrible consequences for unemployed Americans looking for jobs and violates President Obama’s oath to uphold the laws of this land," Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), chairman of the House Judiciary Committee said in a statement. "How can the administration justify allowing illegal immigrants to work in the U.S. when millions of Americans are unemployed? President Obama and his administration once again have put partisan politics and illegal immigrants ahead of the rule of law and the American people.”

West contended the president sidestepped bureaucracy in favor of appeasing Latino interest groups, suggesting the issue should have been put up for public scrutiny.

"I would be very interested to know how close are [Hispanic civil rights] groups like LULAC and [National Council of] La Raza to this decision that’s being made and what impact they had on this executive order and how it’s going to be handed out today," he said. "Why have we not allowed a national debate on this issue?"

Blog author's comments - Obama will do whatever it takes to win a second term whether it is legal or not. The Dictator-In-Chief will continue to issue executive orders and at this time there is nothing the GOP can do to stop him. This is the first step to an eventual path to citizenship for illegals. Of course Obama likes to think of them as future Democratic Party voters.

At the same time Obama has his AG Eric Holder and the DOJ trying to stop states from implementing voter ID laws.

If Allen West retains his seat in the House and the GOP is still in control of the House after the election, Allen West would do well as the Speaker of the House. In my opinion, John Boehner needs to be replaced.

The overall law will still take effect Thursday, but without the provisions that angered opponents — including sections that required officers to check a person's immigration status while enforcing other laws.

The judge also put on hold parts of the law that required immigrants to carry their papers at all times, and made it illegal for undocumented workers to solicit employment in public places. In addition, the judge blocked officers from making warrantless arrests of suspected illegal immigrants.

"Requiring Arizona law enforcement officials and agencies to determine the immigration status of every person who is arrested burdens lawfully-present aliens because their liberty will be restricted while their status is checked," U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton ruled.

Blog author's comments - This is no surprise. The elected representatives of the people of Arizona passed a law, and along comes a Clinton appointed judge who wipes it out.

The Department of Justice's suit says the federal government can't enforce the law because they don't have the resources. That's part of what the federal government argued. Yet they don't want the state to stop the illegals. So...who the hell is going to stop the them? Obama does not want them stopped. He is counting future Democrat party voters.

The judge, in order to rule as she did, had to ignore what Arizona was actually doing and instead she had to listen to what Obama's government told her and what the media has been reporting...that there will be racial profiling going on.

Whatever Obama wants them to say, the MSM will say it. We are dealing with liberals folks, what else should we have expected? We also knew - Judge Susan Bolton - would never rule against Obama.

I believe this will help bring down the Democrats in November. The majority of Americans believe the bill passed by Arizona was a fair law which was needed to protect not only Arizona but the rest of the country.

Key parts of Senate Bill 1070 that will not go into effect Thursday:

• The portion of the law that requires an officer make a reasonable attempt to determine the immigration status of a person stopped, detained or arrested if there's reasonable suspicion they're in the country illegally.

• The portion that creates a crime of failure to apply for or carry "alien-registration papers."

• The portion that allows for a warrantless arrest of a person where there is probable cause to believe they have committed a public offense that makes them removable from the United States.

• The portion that makes it a crime for illegal immigrants to solicit, apply for or perform work.

What else is left in the bill that actually helps the state of Arizona deal with their real problem?
