Democrats Oppose Bill Alerting ICE To Illegal Immigrants Trying To Buy Guns

I get that Democrats are fond of illegal immigrants. I get that. While I don’t like it, I can at least understand that they do.

But they also tend to hate guns. After all, hasn’t the last year been filled with rhetoric about how guns are a major problem and how we need “sensible gun control” immediately if we want to stop our streets from running red with blood?

It would stand to reason that Democrats would support anything that would try to keep guns out of the hands of people who aren’t supposed to buy them. More than that, though, you’d think they’d support measures that would notify the authorities if people who weren’t allowed to buy them tried to anyway.

Well, you would be wrong...

Democrats this week approved legislation to require background checks for essentially all sales and transfers of firearms — but rejected GOP-led efforts to amend the legislation to alert law enforcement authorities when gun buyers, including illegal immigrants, fail those background checks.

Republicans in the House charged that H.R. 8, known as “The Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019,” should have included Florida Rep. Greg Steube’s proposed amendment to require that law enforcement be notified “when an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails a federal background check.” (H.R. 8 was numbered in honor of former Arizona Rep. Gabby Giffords, who was shot in Arizona on Jan. 8, 2011 by a mentally ill gunman.)

“Clearly, the Democrats on the House Judiciary Committee don’t care about preventing gun violence, they simply are playing politics with Americans’ Second Amendment rights,” Steube, a Republican, said after the vote. “The fact that Democrats do not want law enforcement notified if an individual attempting to purchase a firearm fails a background check is truly troubling.”

He continued: “In rejecting this amendment, the Democrats have shown their true colors. It is clear they are not interested in preventing gun violence or stopping the illegal purchase of firearms, but rather they are only interested in limiting the rights of law-abiding citizens to advance their own political agenda.”

Steube’s statement is, of course, correct.

If guns are truly a problem, Democrats wouldn’t oppose notifying ICE when an illegal immigrant tried to purchase one illegally. Instead, they want to continue allowing illegal immigrants to blow off American laws with no repercussions.

Basically, their desire to pander to those who support illegal immigrants is more important to them than gun control.[…]

If it was really about keeping guns out of the wrong hands, this amendment should have been a slam dunk. The fact that it wasn’t tells you all you need to know about how much House Democrats care about preventing gun violence. At the end of the day, they don’t want to alienate their voter base, which they apparently think consists of illegal immigrants and convicted felons but not law-abiding gun owners.

Let that sink in for a little while.

Blog Author's Comments: You cannot make this stuff up, the Democrats have cornered the political market on hypocrisy and corruption. They do not want a safer society, only control over the law-abiding gun owners. If they were serious about safety they would support measures that would notify the authorities if people who weren’t allowed to buy them attempted to anyway. It is a Republican idea and that alone is enough to make them quickly reject it. The Democrats care for illegal aliens outweighs their care for America.

Blog Author's Comments: "Maybe we shouldn't have high-magazine clips" is one of my favorites. I find it amusing when people use words they do not know the meaning of and believe they sound intelligent. And the lawmakers actually think that criminals will abide by any new gun laws they can help pass.

And these, first from Obama: "It is easier for a teenager to buy a Glock, than get his hands on a computer or a book." And another from the video: "It is harder to buy cough medicine than it is to buy an AK-47 or 50 of them." My preference for the Democrats is to leave the law-abiding citizens alone to enjoy their Second Amendment rights. Now do something about the illegal immigrants that continue to pour into our country, live off of our tax dollars, remain here forever and many are criminals.

Democrats go on and on about 'gun culture' but have nothing to say about thug culture, with them it's always someone else's fault. With the latest mass shooting it was the fault of the NRA and an AR-15. Never blame the perpetrator, they were probably mistreated at a young age, or did not have proper parental guidance etc.

No, Hodgkinson Did Not Use An Assault Rifle...

Moonbattery -- It is appropriate that a fanatical supporter of Bernie Sanders would use an SKS for his shooting spree. At the height of the cold war, Sanders was the Mayor of Burlington, and decorated his office with the flag of the Soviet Union. He aggressively sided with Soviet clients in Central America, and even spent his honeymoon in the drab and miserable USSR. Designed in 1943, the SKS was used by the Soviet Red Army before it was rendered obsolete by the AK-47.

Contrary to media reports, it is not an assault rifle. Unlike the AR-15, the SKS does not even look like one. It is a semiautomatic of dated design that holds 10 rounds in a fixed magazine (although modified versions can hold a detachable magazine). You might call it the communist answer to the M1 Garand. The SKS was not covered under Bill Clinton’s assault weapon ban. After BLM moonbat Micah Johnson used an SKS to murder five Dallas police officers, CBS News described the gun as a “curio or relic.”

Yet the media, ever eager for a pretext to go after the AR-15 (a.k.a. America’s Rifle), keeps reporting that James Hodgkinson used an assault rifle to shoot Rep. Steve Scalise.

The Chicago Tribune called the gun “an SKS assault rifle.” That’s like calling someone’s sedan “a Toyota Camry truck.” ABC News barks that Hodgkinson used a “legally purchased assault rifle.” It may have been legally purchased, but it was not an assault rifle.

Some outlets mixed up the SKS with other guns that could legitimately be called assault rifles. CNN absurdly called the SKS “a Chinese-made variant of the popular AK rifle,” although at least they corrected the mistake afterward. CBS News confirmed that the gun used was an M4 carbine, which does not even vaguely resemble an SKS.

Keep all this in mind the next time you are tempted to take anything the media says at face value. If they are this clueless and/or deceptive about guns, chances are good the same is true on other topics.

Blog Author's Comments: Why are these so-called, self described, intelligent media people so ignorant about firearms? If they don't know, they should educate themselves. But, that would take away from the time they have to plant more false stories from anonymous sources. It didn't help when Sen. Rand Paul stated the shooter used an AR-15 as he described the incident he witnessed.

Whenever there is a shooting event, the media usually begins to describe the weapon the shooter used as a horrifying 'AR-15' or a dreaded 'Glock'. Both of them are semi-automatic weapons, and not 'assault' weapons. One has to pull the trigger for each round that is fired. I consider an assault rifle as a fully-automatic weapon. And I most certainly agree as the article states, "if they (the media) are this clueless and/or deceptive about guns, chances are good the same is true on other topics."

Blog Author's Comments -- Hillary Clinton would pander to anything if the money was right. We do not need more Clintons or Bushs in the white house; they have already done enough damage. But, of course, the absolute worst president ever is Barack Hussein Obama, who said 'if I had a son he would look like Trayvon.' And yes, there really is a Trayvon Foundation, to remember the deceased young thug.

All schools should have armed guards and if not guards, than some of the teachers should be trained and carrying a concealed weapon. This is the only way to stop the school shootings which have occurred over the past few years. Our country is in need of Donald Trump as the president. He is not a miracle worker, but change is needed and he can make a very positive difference in our country.

My Lazy Gun...

The Story of My Gun

Today I placed my S&W .357 Revolver on the table right next to my front door. I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do so.

In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World.

But if you take out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom, in the entire world, for Murders.

These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S.

ALL 4 of these cities are controlled by Democrats. It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data right?

Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat.

From groups like “Moms Demand Action” and Michael Bloomberg’s crusade against guns to the anti-gun left–controlled media, the public is subjected to a barrage of misinformation and outright falsehoods regarding firearms.

And so, a primer for you anti-gun liberals.

An “automatic” firearm is one capable of continuous fire (as long as one holds down the trigger). We used to call these “machine guns”… and no, one cannot simply walk into a gun shop and buy one.

A “semi-automatic” is a firearm that fires one bullet each time you pull the trigger (most handguns are semi-automatic). One can walk into a gun shop and buy one of these, provided you meet certain requirements (dependent upon the State in which the shop is located, and the State in which one resides).

A pistol has a removable magazine (not a “clip”) that once filled with ammunition, is placed into the firearm (usually from the bottom). A magazine’s capacity can vary.

A revolver has a “cylinder” that is either taken out once you have discharged all the bullets within the chambers and replaced with another cylinder containing new bullets or is fixed where you remove the empty bullet shells and replace them with live bullets. A cylinder’s capacity can also vary.

I thought the above article was amusing and was meant for the anti-gun left and media.

Reason Magazine -- In the wake of December’s horrific mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Vice President Joe Biden is chairing a panel of experts that will make gun-control recommendations to President Barack Obama by the end of the month. The president has said that enacting new restrictions on guns will be one of his highest priorities.

1. Violent crime – including violent crime using guns – has dropped massively over the past 20 years.

The violent crime rate - which includes murder, rape, and beatings – is half of what it was in the early 1990s. And the violent crime rate involving the use of weapons has also declined at a similar pace.

2. Mass shootings have not increased in recent years.

Despite terrifying events like Sandy Hook or last summer’s theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, mass shootings are not becoming more frequent.“There is no pattern, there is no increase,” says criminologist James Allen Fox of Northeastern University, who studies the issue. Other data shows that mass killings peaked in 1929.

3. Schools are getting safer.

Across the board, schools are less dangerous than they used to be. Over the past 20 years, the rate of theft per 1,000 students dropped from 101 to 18. For violent crime, the victimization rate per 1,000 students dropped from 53 to 14.

4. There Are More Guns in Circulation Than Ever Before.

Over the past 20 years, virtually every state in the country has liberalized gunownership rules and many states have expanded concealed carry laws that allow more people to carry weapons in more places. There around 300 million guns in the United States and at least one gun in about 45 percent of all households. Yet the rate of gun-related crime continues to drop.

5. “Assault Weapons Bans” Are Generally Ineffective.

While many people are calling for reinstating the federal ban on assault weapons –an arbitrary category of guns that has no clear definition – research shows it would have no effect on crime and violence. “Should it be renewed,” concludes a definitive study, “the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.”

Blog author's comments - This is information everyone should be made aware of but the Democrats and anti-gun people do not want to hear facts when they are on a crusade. Guns were always part of Barack Obama's agenda, but he could not do what he would have liked during his first term.

Now with nothing to lose, and the Sandy Hook School shooting fresh in the minds of the people, he will probably bypass Congress by using Executive Orders to make his new gun control bill the law. The meetings VP Joe Biden has had have only been a charade; Obama has known what he wanted in his bill for quite some time.

If Obama had his way there would not be a Second Amendment. Whatever he does to limit guns in America will have no affect on crime. Crime rates are dependent on the people who choose to commit crimes. More gun laws will only penalize the law-abiding citizens.
