Democrats Fail In Bid To Engineer Government Shutdown Over DACA...

There will be no repeat of the #SchumerShutdown. Early Friday morning, the House passed a bill to keep the government open despite intense resistance by Democrats led by Nancy Pelosi to refuse a deal unless there were steps to provide amnesty to millions of illegals.

Pelosi took to the floor on Wednesday to speak for eight straight hours during which she put at least one representative to sleep with her nails on a chalkboard voice droning on. The grandstanding Dem leader rattled off stories of the so-called Dreamers and at one point, even said that her own grandson wished that he had brown skin like an illegal.

Even as some Democrats are beginning to question the wisdom of their party putting the interests of illegal aliens over those of Americans, Pelosi is calling the shots and this is their strategy now that all else has blown up in their faces like one of Slick Willie’s very special exploding cigars.

Pelosi is badly miscalculating the support that the majority of Americans have for a few million illegals, a handful of which the Democrats keep dragging out as props to make their point. By betting that this is the moral issue of our times is taking a huge risk and it could badly burn the Dems just like so much else has under the “leadership” of the weasel queen from sodomite city.

There was a brief shutdown as Senator Rand Paul took to the Senate floor to make his point about spending increases but other than keeping his colleagues up and working late it was for naught.

Minus the DACA provisions that Pelosi and other radical progs wanted, the bill will now head to President Trump while the Dreamers face an uncertain future over the Dems stubborn refusal to budge over concessions on stricter immigration requirements and a border wall.

Blog Author's Comments: I do agree with Senator Rand Paul that we keep driving ourselves deeper in debt. Perhaps after border security is given precedence, Trump will turn his focus on welfare reform, eliminating fraud and reducing the national debt. I believe that DACA expires on March 5th. If serious negotiations do not begin on the Wall and overall border security the deportations should start in earnest. The Republicans have to receive full funding for border security. I would not even think about naturalization for those now enrolled in the DACA program, and do not allow anymore in it.

Also end Chain Migration and the Visa Lottery. The Democrats will fight on everything, but if the huge immigration problem is not cleaned up while Trump is the President, it never will be. I also think that the solution is to "demagnetize" our country. Stop all services to all illegals. If there are no benefits here, they'll stop coming. We should also punish anyone who hires illegals. What I really believe is we should follow the laws already on the books. No more DACA, do not give the illegals or the Democrats anything, and continue to deport anyone that is in the country illegally.

Shutting down government for lawless/law-breaking illegal aliens is idiocy of the highest realm. Schumer chose non-citizens over citizens, non-tax payers over tax payers, non-workers over workers. The Democrat Party is truly insane, traitorous, greedy and incapable of governing this nation. The Democrats are pushing for DACA; they want and need a permanent underclass. Some of the illegals are intelligent, skilled and taking care of themselves, but the majority are living via our welfare system.

The democrats would within a few years push to make them citizens and give them the right to vote. Now, who would like to guess which party they would vote for? Who cares if they can't read the ballots, the democrats will be glad to provide them with pre-marked ballots. DACA is the sole act of a depraved Obama, who could not get this passed with a Democratic House and Senate. So he used an executive order to illegally subvert Congress and now no one wants to remember that we owe these people who are here illegally nothing. Not even their return ticket back to where ever they came from.

On January 20, 2017, the executive power peacefully transitioned from President Obama to President Trump. At least one judge in San Francisco didn’t get the memo. Judge William Alsup ordered the Trump administration to keep its predecessor’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program in place. Judge Alsup a democrat, was nominated by President Bill Clinton to a seat on the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. Hopefully this can be overturned by the Supreme Court.

The Trump White House today held a presser before the US Senate vote on the continuing resolution to fund government.

During the presser on the “Schumer Shutdown” CNN’s Jim Acosta tried to get smart with White House Director of the Office of Management and Budget Mick Mulvaney.

Jim Acosta: At the comments beginning this you said it was the Schumer shutdown. How could it be the Schumer Shutdown when Republicans control the White House, the House and the Senate?

Mick Mulvaney: Come on. You know the answer to that as well as anybody. I have to laugh when people say that. ‘Oh we control the House, the Senate, the White House, why can’t you get this done?’ You know as well as anybody that it takes 60 votes in the Senate to pass an appropriations bill. Right? You know that?

Jim Acosta: I know that.

Mick Mulvaney: So when you only have 51 votes in the senate you have to have Democrat support in order to keep the government to fund the government. So that’s the answer to your question.

Blog Author's Comments: With CNN and Acosta in the mix the laughs just keep coming and make the other "journalists" look more intelligent than they are. Why is he still there? Why has he not been booted from the White House pressers and briefings, along with all other CNN staff? The only reason Acosta is in attendance is because he is doing exactly what his supervisors at CNN want him to do. Yet, he continually makes a fool of himself.

The Democrats want to shut down the government or pretend that it is, because they have nothing else to offer as a viable political party. The hope is that their Democrat and liberal base will have even more hatred for the Republican Party and President Donald Trump.

CNN desires that Acosta will set off or trigger some White House staffer to overreact. But Mick Mulvaney was not bothered at all by the well-known liberal Jim Acosta. Politico -- Former Senior White House Adviser David Plouffe on Sunday said he believes President Barack Obama’s “numbers will recover” and that people “trust this president.”

“It’s been a tough patch,” Plouffe said on ABC’s “This Week.” “And it’s not just healthcare, you know, the shutdown affected everybody, confidence in government. But let’s fast forward to the State of the Union and the months after that: Health care working better, a lot of people signing up, economy continuing to strengthen, hopefully no Washington shutdowns.”

“I think the president’s numbers will recover, I think people’s confidence will recover,” he added. “And we need to push Congress to do immigration, to do the smart things to help the economy.”

But Rep. Tom Cole (R-Okla.), also on the “This Week” panel, said the problems with Obamacare will continue to damage the president and his administration.

“The first impression here was terrible, and I think it will be an unfolding disaster for the president,” he said. “This thing is going to be an unmitigated political disaster for the president."

Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), meanwhile, said he was more optimistic about the health care law.

“This website is technology,” he said. “It’s going to get better. It’s already better today.”

Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan, however, said the president’s reputation has been seriously hurt by his claim that those who liked their health plans could keep them. Americans look at Obama and “think, ‘He’s no dummy,’” Noonan said. And “because he’s a smart guy, that means he deliberately misled us” to pass the law.

But, Plouffe said, “I think he spoke directly to this. And I think people accepted what he had to say. I think people trust this president. I think there’s been numbers all over the place. But I'm confident in a few months from now, those trust numbers are going to come up and his approval number will come up.”

Blog author's comments - The government shutdown had little to do with where Obama and many Democrats find themselves today. And it was not the fault of the Republican Party. Obama and Harry Reid wanted the shutdown and they were not going to negotiate on anything to get it, so they could place the blame on the Republican controlled House. This vindictive president should get credit for the shutdown but he knew the liberal mainstream media would cover for him.

Obama's polling numbers took a downward turn with the Obamacare rollout disaster and when the public finally realized that Obama lied to them when he said if they liked their health care plan they could keep it. He was not truthful to the people about Obamacare and what it would do to many of them. He has been lying about his many scandals - Benghazi, the IRS targeting Obama's enemies, the government watching the AP reporters, the NSA wiretaps and 'Fast and Furious' just to name a few. Priests Threatened With Arrest If They Minister to Military During Shutdown

Daily Caller -- In a stunning development, some military priests are facing arrest if they celebrate mass or practice their faith on military bases during the federal government shutdown.

“With the government shutdown, many [government service] and contract priests who minister to Catholics on military bases worldwide are not permitted to work – not even to volunteer,” wrote John Schlageter, the general counsel for the Archdiocese for the Military Services USA, in an op-ed this week. “During the shutdown, it is illegal for them to minister on base and they risk being arrested if they attempt to do so.”

According to its website the Archdiocese for the Military Services “provides the Catholic Church’s full range of pastoral ministries and spiritual services to those in the United States Armed Forces.”

In his piece, Schlageter worries about this restriction as Sunday nears. “If the government shutdown continues through the weekend, there will be no Catholic priest to celebrate Mass this Sunday in the chapels at some U.S. military installations where non-active-duty priests serve as government contractors,” he wrote.

Because of the lack of active-duty Catholic chaplains, the military relies on hiring civilian priests to serve as government service and contract ministers. Those civilian priests are not allowed on the bases during a shutdown, Schlageter wrote.

Blog author's comments - The fact that Obama is doing things like this shows what a petty person we have in the White House. Obama really does dislike the military and Christians. He and his band of Democrats are making this government shutdown as difficult on the people as they can. If it lasts a few weeks we will no doubt see the Democrats stoop even lower. Obama is used to yes men and groveling subservient liberals, I doubt he has had much experience in dealing with men like our war veterans, with their honesty and integrity. In fact, I don't believe he cares that much about our veterans and what they have sacrificed and done for our country.

Blog author's comments - Obama is beginning his campaign to win back the House in 2014, this is why he wants a government shutdown. He knows the liberal media will put the blame on the GOP. This also takes the voters away, those who are aware of them, from the numerous scandals within the Obama Administration. Should Obamacare be defunded? Absolutely, it is an economic disaster and will be a medical disaster. But even if the House and Senate came to some sort of agreement, which will not happen, Obama would veto it. The ACA is now the law.

This is why I don't think the Republican Party should attempt to stop the individual mandate for only a year...until 2015. Let the low-information voters and, those who are still not aware that the ACA is law, deal with it and see what a bad bill this is. The Republican Party should be planning their strategy with their ultimate goal being to retain the House in 2014. The bills from the House should also have included a removal of the Congress exemption from Obamacare that Obama gave them. If he feels the ACA is a good bill for the people, why shouldn't Congress and their staffs live with the same health insurance bill?
