Mark Steyn: President Knew The Truth On Bergdahl

Truth Revolt -- With all the media chatter about the findings in the Bowe Bergdahl investigation, author, columnist and Rush Limbaugh fill-in host Mark Steyn writes that there is no way President Obama and his staff could not have known the truth about Bergdahl last year.

When others objected, the White House dispatched the National Security Advisor, Susan Rice, to tell the American people that Bergdahl "served the United States with honor and distinction". She surely knew, as did the President, that that was a lie.

Given the background checks an ordinary law-abiding citizen requires these days merely to be permitted to be in the presence of the President, the White House must also have known that the man Obama embraced in the Rose Garden that day - Bergdahl's father - was a Taliban sympathizer.

Steyn cites extensively from his columns, written last June, including details of email exchanges between Bergdahl and his father. He also puts a fine point on what Obama's celebration of Bergdahl's release really means.

Obama didn't just trade five high-value Taliban leaders-cum-war criminals for one American deserter, but he chose to honor that deserter as an American hero. And, in so honoring him, dishonored all the comrades he deserted.
Blog Author's Comments - Obama had to have known the truth about Bergdahl. He had to know that Bergdahl was a deserter. For years his fellow soldiers were forced to stay silent about the disappearance and search for him. This should outrage every American veteran and active duty military member. The fact that Obama traded five terrorists for a deserter without alerting Congress before the prisoner swap occurred should outrage every American.

Obama has sat on his hands while ISIS took over the Middle East. He has squandered all gains from Iraq and Afghanistan. Bowe Bergdahl has finally been charged as a deserter, but I expect over time he will receive a full presidential pardon. And neither Obama nor anyone in his administration has mentioned the soldiers who were killed by the enemy while searching for this traitor.

Obama Administration Lawyers Fight 'Redskins' Trademark

Washington Times -- The Washington Redskins’ name is commercial speech and isn’t the kind of free expression protected by the First Amendment, the Obama administration told a federal court this week in defending a ruling that has stripped the football team of trademark protections.

The team’s name itself is not at stake, but if the trademark is canceled, the name becomes less valuable because the owners would struggle to enforce their trademark against anyone who wanted to use the name or Indian logo on their own merchandise.

In a filing Monday, the Justice Department defended the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board’s decision last year to strip the team of protections.

“Not only do trademarks function only minimally as a vehicle for expression, but trademark registration also involves the necessary participation of the government in approving that registration, which confers relaxed First Amendment review even when combined with the speech of a private party,” the Obama lawyers said.

Trademark law says disparaging marks cannot be granted protections, and the government argues that the name has become disparaging over the last century. The trademark board, in its 2-1 ruling, also cited polling suggesting a significant percentage of American Indians consider the name a slur.

Pro-Football Inc., the company that operates the team, argues a previous court ruling has already held the trademark wasn’t disparaging.
Blog Author's Comments - It really is too bad that Obama does not put as much effort into making America a better place as he does in tearing it down. Why is the Department of Justice involved in this? I have never seen an administration target businesses like Obama's, if the name and trademark offends you go watch tennis.

Since the trademark has been used by the Redskins for many decades why is it now offensive? The Middle East is in extremely bad shape, our borders are wide open, we have record debt, race relations are in shambles, our healthcare system is in trouble, and the Washington Redskins trademark is what Obama has his lawyers working on. There is no doubt in my mind that we have the worst president ever.

NCAA Men's Division One Basket Tournament - Known As 'March Madness'

The NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament involves 68 teams playing in a single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division I college basketball. The 77th edition of the tournament began on March 17, 2015, and will conclude with the championship game on April 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Out of 333 eligible Division I teams, 68 participate in the tournament. Eighteen Division I teams were ineligible due to failing to meet APR (The Academic Progress Rate (APR) is a term-by-term measure of eligibility and retention for Division I student-athletes that was developed as an early indicator of eventual graduation rates.) requirements, self-imposed postseason bans, or reclassification from a lower division.

Of the 32 automatic bids, 31 were given to programs that won their conference tournaments. The Ivy League, does not hold a tournament, and awards its bid to the team with the best regular-season record. However, whenever two or more teams are tied for the conference title, league rules call for a one-game playoff between the top two teams (or a series of such playoffs if more than two teams are tied), which occurred in this year. The remaining 36 bids were granted on an "at-large" basis, which were extended by the NCAA Selection Committee to the teams it deemed to be the best 36 teams that did not receive automatic bids.

Eight teams—the four lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers and the four lowest-seeded at-large teams—will play in the first four games. The winners of these games advance to the round of 64.

The Selection Committee will also seed the entire field from 1 to 68.
Blog Author's Comments - March Madness is a fun time of year for basketball fans. Many people who don't follow basketball during the season will watch the tournament, especially if the college they graduated from or one which is near them is in the tournament. This year the University of Kentucky is the favorite to win the national championship since they went undefeated during the regular season. But, many higher ranked teams will lose to lower ranked teams which makes it interesting. March Madness for many folks and sports fans ranks right up there with the National Football League playoffs and the Major League baseball playoffs.

Thomas Sowell - On Barack Obama And Hillary Clinton

Thomas Sowell

Blog Author's Comments - The cultural rot that's taking place in America is the result of an attack on Western Civilization. This has most certainly intensified in the United States since Barack Obama has been in office. We are on the precipice I think of real danger. These next two years, there are no impediments; there's nothing stopping Obama. And this will continue if Hillary Clinton becomes the president in 2016.

(via Wikipedia) Thomas Sowell is an American economist, social theorist, political philosopher, and author. He is currently Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University. He received a Bachelor's degree, graduating magna cum laude from Harvard University in 1958 and a Master's degree from Columbia University in 1959. In 1968, he earned his Doctorate in Economics from the University of Chicago.

Sowell has served on the faculties of several universities, including Cornell University and University of California, Los Angeles. He has also worked for think tanks such as the Urban Institute. Obama Advisor Behind Leak Of Hillary Clinton's Email Scandal

NY Post By Edward Klein -- It’s the vast left-wing conspiracy.

Obama senior adviser Valerie Jarrett leaked to the press details of Hillary Clinton’s use of a private e-mail address during her time as secretary of state, sources tell me.

But she did so through people outside the administration, so the story couldn’t be traced to her or the White House.

In addition, at Jarrett’s behest, the State Department was ordered to launch a series of investigations into Hillary’s conduct at Foggy Bottom, including the use of her expense account, the disbursement of funds, her contact with foreign leaders and her possible collusion with the Clinton Foundation.

Six separate probes into Hillary’s performance have been going on at the State Department. I’m told that the e-mail scandal was timed to come out just as Hillary was on the verge of formally announcing that she was running for president — and that there’s more to come.

Members of Bill Clinton’s camp say the former president suspects the White House is the source of the leak and is furious.[...]

Then, according to this source, Bill added: “The Obamas are out to get us any way they can.”

The sabotage is part of an ongoing feud between the two Democrat powerhouses.

Last fall, during the run-up to the 2014 midterm elections, Jarrett was heard to complain bitterly that the Clintons were turning congressmen, senators, governors and grass-root party members against Obama by portraying him as an unpopular president who was an albatross around the neck of the party.

Jarrett was said to be livid that most Democrats running for election refused to be seen campaigning with the president. She blamed the Clintons for marginalizing the president and for trying to wrestle control of the Democratic Party away from Obama.

And she vowed payback.[...]

Relations have gotten even frostier in the past few months.

After the Democrats took a shellacking in the midterms, the White House scheduled a meeting with Hillary Clinton. When she showed up in the Oval Office, she was greeted by three people — the president, Jarrett and Michelle Obama.

With his wife and Jarrett looking on, Obama made it clear that he intended to stay neutral in the presidential primary process — a clear signal that he wouldn’t mind if someone challenged Hillary for the nomination.

“Obama and Valerie Jarrett will go to any lengths to prevent Hillary from becoming president,” a source close to the White House told me. “They believe that Hillary, like her husband, is left of center, not a true-blue liberal.”

If she gets into the White House, they believe she will compromise with the Republicans in Congress and undo Obama’s legacy.
Blog Author's Comments - "If she gets into the White House, they believe she will compromise with the Republicans in Congress and undo Obama’s legacy." If the GOP will get behind and back the right people for the presidential nomination Hilary Clinton can be defeated assuming she is the Democrats' nominee. And if the Republicans can win in 2016 and hold the Senate and House they can undo 'Obama's legacy'. I do not like Clinton, she is a serial liar like her husband, but if she had won in 2008 I don't think life in Washington would be as bad as it has been and will continue to be with Obama. When can we expect leaks about Obama's past from some of the Clinton's allies? I'm sure the Clintons have some ammunition if they decide to use it.

Obama wants his election to be the only 'historic' one. The first woman in the White House would give Hillary Clinton the same glorified attention he got and he couldn't stomach that. I believe Clinton will escape this email scandal just like she did with the Benghazi scandal while she was Secretary of State which was accomplished with the help of the liberal media.

I do think Hillary will continue the 'transformation of America' if she should become the next president. So, it is time for the Republicans to get to work with what needs to be done and win the election in 2016 and don't try it with Jeb Bush. I know it's still early but if I had to choose the people I want in the White House Scott Walker and Ted Cruz would be at the top of my list. One can always hope that the Republican Party has the intelligence to run someone who has a good chance of winning the presidency because if they lose in 2016, they may not ever win another one.

Videos By Bill Whittle - Gun Control, Second Amendment, Barack Obama...

Number One With A Bullet

Your Second Amendment

Blog Author's Comments - With roughly two years left in the Obama presidency there are still many items which he still wants to accomplish with his plan for the ‘fundamental transformation’ of America. One item that we can be sure is on his agenda is more gun control laws. Obama has lied about not doing anything which would infringe on our Second Amendment rights. I don’t believe anything he says.

He and his administration will do as much as they can and they do not care what the majority of the American people want. Only the National Rifle Association is fighting for the Second Amendment. Obama will use more executive orders and ignore our Constitution and Second Amendment. Most of us should know that more gun control laws will have little, if any, affect on the criminals. They don’t care how many new gun control laws are put in place. More laws will only hurt the law abiding gun owners.

Obama Complains It's Easier To Buy A Gun Than A Book Or Fresh Vegetable

The Blaze -- President Barack Obama launched a rhetorical assault on guns in one of the most gun friendly states in the nation while speaking at a town hall event in Columbia, South Carolina, Friday.

“As long as you can go in some neighborhoods and it is easier for you to buy a firearm than it is for you to buy a book, there are neighborhoods where it is easier for you to buy a handgun and clips than it is for you to buy a fresh vegetable, as long as that’s the case, we’re going to continue to see unnecessary violence,” Obama said in a response to a question at the town hall meeting at Benedict College.

Obama vented his frustration that the administration-backed proposal on expanding background checks in 2013 did not pass Congress. It died in the Democratically-controlled Senate. Obama invoked the Newtown, Connecticut school shooting where 20 children were murdered.

“I thought after what happened at Sandy Hook would make us think about it,” Obama said. “You would have thought that’s got to be enough of a motivator. But we couldn’t get it done.”

Obama said without legislation at the state and federal level, “it is difficult to reduce the availability of guns.” In the absence of a bill from Congress, he said, “We’ve tried to get as much done administratively.”

“Our homicide rates are so much higher than other industrialized countries,” he added, and blamed the accessibility to guns for that. Though he offered an obligatory statement about wanting to protecting the Second Amendment. “That’s important. That’s part of who we are.”

He further mocked some gun rights activists.

“In some places it goes the opposite direction. People say we should have firearms in kindergarten and have machine guns in bars. You think I’m exaggerating,” Obama said. “You look at these laws that come up. Despite those frustrations, I would say it is still within our control to reduce the incidence of handguns violence by making sure your young people understand that that is not a sign of strength.”
Blog Author's Comments - Once again Obama, the worst president in American history, is complaining about guns. Obama in reality is attacking legal gun owners for the actions of illegal gun using criminals. How is an expanded background check going to stop the purchase of illegally obtained firearms by the criminals who do the majority of robberies and shootings? And the majority of the time they are black on black shootings.

The best way for Obama to reduce gun sales would be for him to keep his mouth shut. Every time he talks about guns, gun and ammunition sales go through the roof. Anyone who has been paying attention the past six years knows that Obama is a liar with an evil agenda for our country. His expanded background check law did not pass the Democrat controlled Senate, and now with the Senate and House in control of the GOP for the rest of Obama's presidency more gun control laws should not make it through Congress.

But look at what a cave to Obama's executive order on illegal immigration both the Senate and House did. Neither McConnell nor Boehner should be in the positions they are. What good did the big midterm win do for the Republican Party? I have no doubt that Obama will use another executive order to pass more gun control laws.

Trey Gowdy Fights Back Against Obama's
Amnesty With New Immigration Plan

Daily Caller -- South Carolina Republican Rep. Trey Gowdy has introduced an immigration bill to defund President Obama’s executive amnesty and expedite the removal of criminal aliens from U.S. soil.

Named after Michael Davis, Jr., a sheriff’s deputy in California who was killed in the line of duty last year by an illegal immigrant, Gowdy’s bill would also provide a work-around for state and local governments to reinforce federal immigration laws while also implementing an annual review of the executive branch’s use of prosecutorial discretion in immigration cases.

“If we are serious about finding a long term solution to our immigration system, we must address interior enforcement,” Gowdy, the Republican chairman of the Immigration and Border Security Subcommittee, said in a statement announcing the measure.

“This bill, which is one part of the Committee’s step-by-step process to address our broken immigration system, will ensure we do not repeat the mistakes of the past and help us earn back the trust of the American public,” he added.

If enacted, the bill would completely dismantle what Gowdy describes as Obama’s “unilateral, constitutional actions on immigration” by cutting off any and all funds to the initiative. It would also strip Obama and all future presidents of any power to unilaterally shut down immigration enforcement by allowing state and local governments the authorization to enforce federal immigration laws.

Gowdy’s measure would also cut some grants to “sanctuary cities” — municipalities that prohibit law enforcement from inquiring about immigration status.

Entire column...
Blog author's comments - Trey Gowdy is one of the most qualified politicians of his generation. It is too bad that the GOP does not have more members like him. I refer in particular to the leaders of the Senate and House. I don't believe Mitch McConnell will do anything except get along with the Democrats prior to the 2016 election. So, what good did the big win in the midterms do for the GOP if the leadership of the Republican Party does not plan to work with Gowdy and a few others who are attempting to accomplish something that is good for the country?

Trey Gowdy’s bill will probably pass in the House, but Senate passage is highly unlikely. If by chance the bill passed both the House and Senate it would never get by Obama's veto. If the Republican Party should ever put a President in the White House again Gowdy should be appointed to a high office in the cabinet. He is a real change from the Republican RINO's who are currently in Congress.

McConnell Gives In To Democrats Demands On DHS And Immigration Bill

Truth Revolt -- A split between Senate and House Republicans may have given the Democrats the win they were looking for in the DHS funding fight.

Democrats have blocked passage of a bill to fund the Department of Homeland Security for weeks now because the bill also defunded President Obama’s executive actions on amnesty for illegal immigrants. Four times the bill was brought forward and four times Democrats in the Senate blocked it.

With a shutdown of DHS possible as soon as Friday, Senate Republicans blinked first and have agreed to separate votes on DHS funding and immigration. The move has the potential to divide the GOP and show divisions with grassroots groups opposed to amnesty but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell told reporters in Washington all sides should back the move.

“I don’t know what’s not to like about this,” McConnell said. “This is an approach that respects both points of view.”

Congressman Steve King of Iowa is one Republican unhappy with the move. King sent out several tweets criticizing senators for allowing the split vote to happen.

“Senators arguing fund DHS but vote a separate bill to defund executive amnesty. Have you heard of Obama veto? Think we were born yesterday?” King tweeted.

If the split vote to fund DHS passes the Senate it is unclear what Republicans in the House will do.

House Speaker John Boehner’s spokesman Michael Steel told the Washington Post via email that he still expects Senate Democrats to do the right thing and pass the House bill.

“The speaker has been clear: The House has acted, and now Senate Democrats need to stop hiding. Will they continue to block funding for the Department of Homeland Security or not?”

And block they may. Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said on Tuesday that Democrats will not support splitting DHS funding from the immigration parts of the bill until there are assurances from House Republicans that they will accept the Senate deal.

House Republicans are meeting behind closed doors Wednesday to discuss their next moves.
Blog Author's Comments - Mitch McConnell should never have been elected as Senate Majority leader. I said after the Republicans big win in the midterm elections that McConnell should not be the majority leader; the man is not capable of handling the responsibility. The Senate Republicans essentially waved the white flag on amnesty. They have bowed to the Democrats again.

They will have little hope of capturing the White House and maintaining control of the Senate in 2016 with the loss of this bill. Obama and the Democrats detest our Constitution and values, and Republicans won't stand up to them. This is a major mistake for McConnell to give in on Obama's illegal amnesty actions. Republicans have a duty to hold the President accountable, but they are not doing the job for which they were elected.

Fed-Up Scott Walker Has Blunt Answer For Reporter:
'Classic Example Of Why People...Dislike The Press'

The Blaze -- Amid the media flap over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker saying he doesn’t know if President Barack Obama loves America since he’s “never asked the president” about that subject, Walker was apparently grilled again regarding his position on Obama’s beliefs.

This time it was about the president’s religious faith.

Walker, a Republican and possible 2016 presidential candidate, said in an interview Saturday that he didn’t know if Obama is a Christian, the Washington Post reported.

The Post article did not quote the text of the apparent question Walker was asked regarding Obama’s faith, it did note that Walker was told during the interview that Obama has spoken publicly about his Christian faith.

“I’ve actually never talked about it or I haven’t read about that,” Walker said, according to the Post. “I’ve never asked him that,” he added, the paper said. “You’ve asked me to make statements about people that I haven’t had a conversation with about that. How [could] I say if I know either of you are a Christian?”

Walker then offered a retort for the media.

“To me, this is a classic example of why people hate Washington and, increasingly, they dislike the press,” Walker said, the Post reported. “The things they care about don’t even remotely come close to what you’re asking about.”

More from the Post:

After the interview was completed, Walker spokeswoman Jocelyn Webster telephoned The Washington Post to say the governor was trying to make a point of principle by not answering such kinds of questions, not trying to cast doubt on Obama’s faith.

“Of course the governor thinks the president is a Christian,” she said. “He thinks these kinds of gotcha questions distract from what he’s doing as governor of Wisconsin to make the state better and make life better for people in his state.”

Walker also said he’s being held to a different standard by the media.

“Was it (Teamsters president) Jimmy Hoffa that ripped on the tea party and called them unpatriotic, and the president was standing there and nobody asked him that?” Walker recalled, the Post said. “To me, it seems I’ve had multiple days of an incredible double standard. They don’t ask the president about people like Jimmy Hoffa, they don’t ask Hillary Clinton about others out there.”

Walker added that who believes what or who said what isn’t his focus; rather it’s “should I choose to get in this election, why I believe we need a fighter.”
Blog author's comments - First of all I definitely believe Scott Walker should be in the running for the GOP presidential nominee for 2016. At this point in time, he is what the country and the Republican Party needs. I know that there will be many Republicans vying for the nomination, but now that Walker has become one of the front runners the liberal mainstream media are digging to find something that will make him look bad and possibly remove him from contention.

Because of Obama's actions, what he has said and will not say about the Islamic terrorists, Obama really doesn’t act like a Christian; he leans towards Islam and says very little about Christianity. I am not so sure Obama is a Christian; he seems to me to be a Muslim first.

Justice Dept Threatens To Sue Ferguson For Racial Discrimination

Truth Revolt -- Though it has reportedly found no cause for pursuing charges of civil rights violations against Officer Darren Wilson, the Justice Department is preparing to sue the Ferguson Police Department over what it claims is a pattern of “racially discriminatory” practices unless it agrees to implement the Justice Department’s new policies.

CNN reports:

"Attorney General Eric Holder said this week he expects to announce the results of the department's investigation of the shooting death of Michael Brown and a broader probe of the Ferguson Police Department before he leaves office in the coming weeks."

Brown's shooting death at the hands of Officer Darren Wilson has thrust Ferguson into the center of a nationwide debate over police tactics and race relations. The Justice Department is expected to announce it won't charge Wilson for the shooting, but it's also expected to outline findings that allege a pattern of discriminatory tactics used by the Ferguson police.

As it has done with several police departments nationwide, the Justice Department is using the lawsuit as a pressure tactic for the implementation of its anti-racial discrimination policies. One of the issues the suit will focus on are allegations that the FPD has targeted low-income people for minor traffic infractions, “and then jailed them when they couldn't pay fines.”

"I think everybody will see when we announce our results that the process that we have engaged in is, as I said back at the time when I went to Ferguson, independent, thorough and based on all the facts," said Holder. "And I am confident that people will be satisfied with the results that will be announced."

Meanwhile, Ferguson Chief of Police Thomas Jackson said so far he’s received “nothing new,” and insisted that the department has “tried to comply” with everything that Holder and his Justice Department have demanded, which he said has been “reasonable” thus far.
Blog author's comments - Another example which shows that liberalism never learns, never changes. A thug died because of his own actions. If I were in charge of the Ferguson Police Department and didn't think they had racially discriminated against minorities, I would tell this to Holder and his DOJ. But they fear more problems unless they remain quiet. More government takeover, the city must allow Eric Holder to run its police department.

All this will accomplish is to make it even harder for cities like Ferguson to recruit and keep police officers. Obama has certainly discussed all of this with Holder, and Obama who doesn't see Islamic terrorists anywhere sure seems to see racism everywhere. Holder is just one of many within the Obama administration that a large number of people will be glad to see finally leave.
