Obama Tells Us Again - The Economy Needs A Jolt

Obama '09 and '11: Economy
Really Needs A "JOLT" Right Now

Blog author's comments - The only jolt much of America is willing to give President Obama will be his firing next year. Another “jolt” gimmick is exactly what the country does not need. A calm return to business-friendly policies is required, but Barack Obama will not go there.

In 2011 - the Jobs Bill needs to pass to give the economy a "jolt." In 2009 - the Stimulus Bill had to pass to give the economy a "jolt." The 'Stimulus' bill did nothing to help the economy. The 'Jobs Bill' is another worthless piece of legislation which Obama is using to try to gain a second term as President.

So far, everything Boehner and the Republicans in the house do, immediately gets shot down in the Senate. The GOP must retain control of the House and regain control of the Senate with the 2012 election.

The Senate is supposed to take up Obama's jobs bill next week after adding to the bill a tax increase on million-dollar earners. Obama said he will support this. How will this create jobs? With more taxes on the million dollar earners - Obama and the Democrats are declaring war on the job creators.

U.S. unemployment is currently at 9.1 percent and is expected to stay as high as 9 percent into the 2012 presidential electoral year. Recent U.S. history shows that no president has been re-elected at such a high level of unemployment. I hope this "history" will continue with the 2012 presidential election.

Dead People Receive Stimulus Payments

72,000 Stimulus Payments Went to Dead People

Associated Press
WASHINGTON — More than 89,000 stimulus payments of $250 each went to people who were either dead or in prison, a government investigator says in a new report.

The payments, which were part of last year's massive economic recovery package, were meant to increase consumer spending to help stimulate the economy.

But about $18 million went to nearly 72,000 people who were dead, according to the report by the Social Security Administration's inspector general. The report estimates that a little more than half of those payments were returned.

An additional $4.3 million went to more than 17,000 prison inmates, the report said.
Most of the inmates, it turns out, were eligible to get the payments because they were newly incarcerated and had been receiving Social Security before they were locked up.

In all, the $250 payments were sent to about 52 million people who receive either Social Security or Supplemental Security Income, at a cost of about $13 billion. Other federal retirees also received the payments, but they were not part of the inspector general's review.

The inspector general for the Social Security Administration has been performing an audit to make sure no checks went to ineligible recipients. The latest report was dated Sept. 24 but was just recently posted to the agency's website.

People were eligible for payments if they were getting benefits during any one of the three months before the law was passed in February 2009.

Dead people were ineligible to get the payments. But, the report said, there is no provision in the law to recover payments incorrectly sent to dead people.

"Based on the failure of the SSA to properly check its records, and Congress' failure to fully think through the provisions needed to govern these payments, SSA lost $22.3 million in American tax dollars," said Sen. Tom Coburn, R-Okla. "These findings are yet another example of congressional stupidity and a lack of accountability."

The Social Security Administration said that despite tight deadlines, workers accurately processed more than 99.8 percent of the 52 million stimulus payments.

"We worked with Treasury, developed new processes, and began issuing (payments) about 30 days earlier than the legislatively mandated deadline," the agency said in a written response included in the inspector general's report. "This was a major accomplishment for our agency."

Blog author's comments - Is anyone really surprised that this would happen with the Obama administration in control of our tax dollars? The number of bogus stimulus payments was no doubt understated.

Will anyone ever know where all the 'stimulus' money has gone? This was the spending bill that according to Obama had to be passed to save us from another great depression.

If the midterm election is not a landslide for the Republican Party I don't know what it will take for the voters to understand what is happening to our country.

It is difficult for me to believe that there are still many people who will continue to support Obama and the Democrats.

Spending On "'Stimulus Bill' Signs & Economy

The taxpayers of Ohio have helped pay $1 million in wasteful funds for signs telling them that the "Stimulus Bill" is working. You don't suppose these are also being used as Obama campaign signs - hmmm?

The 'Stimulus Bill' is not working, as many of us predicted. Due to the Obama administration's policies and agenda, it appears that some Democrat members of the House and Senate may be in trouble in November. (See column after video)

Obama enlists Bill Clinton's aid on economy
REUTERS WASHINGTON – U.S. President Barack Obama sought on Wednesday to lift sagging confidence in his economic stewardship by enlisting the help of predecessor Bill Clinton, as a leading business group issued a scathing critique of the administration's policies.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, a leading business group, issued a rebuke of Obama's economic agenda, accusing him and his Democrats in Congress of neglecting job creation and hampering growth with burdensome regulatory and tax policies.

Four months before the November congressional elections, Republicans have tried to paint Obama and his Democrats as anti-business. And Obama on Tuesday named former Clinton administration veteran Jack Lew as the White House budget chief to help cut the huge deficit.

With unemployment stubbornly high, polls have reinforced Democrats' fears of big losses in November.

A survey by The Washington Post-ABC News showed 54 percent of Americans disapproved of Obama's leadership on the economy. In a CBS News poll, only 40 percent of Americans said they approved of Obama's handling of the economy.

A report, unveiled by CEA Chairwoman Christina Romer and Vice President Joseph Biden, estimated that Obama's $862 billion economic stimulus package had saved or created roughly 3 million jobs, and was on track to meet its goal of 3.5 million jobs by the end of this year.

Republicans disputed the numbers and said Obama was letting Americans down.

"No amount of Washington spin or fuzzy math can change the fact that the trillion-dollar 'stimulus' is failing by the Obama Administration's own standards," House of Representatives Republican Leader John Boehner said in a statement.

High budget deficits are among the complaints business groups have lodged against the Obama administration. A healthcare overhaul, financial regulatory reform and proposals to cap carbon emissions are cited by some corporate chieftains as examples of regulatory overreach. . . Entire column

Blog author's comments - If you read the above column it is clear that 'Captain Kickass' - having asked for the help of - Bill 'Slick Willie' Clinton, is now concentrating on damage control. If...we can believe the polls, the Democrats may soon be adding to the pool of the unemployed.

There is even talk that the Democrats could lose control of the House and some Senate seats. We can only vote and hope.

To see what the polls are predicting see post of Monday, July 12, 2010 on this blog.

I am surprised the above column did not mention the talking point Obama usually uses:
"This is all the fault of the failed policies of George W. Bush."

Hope to see you at the polls for the mid-term elections this November. If you still believe Obama is leading the country in the correct direction there is no hope for you. Let's do our homework people and vote for the candidates who can begin to turn this country in the right direction.
