Barack 'The Truth Teller' Obama Promises He's Not Coming For Our Guns

Down Trend -- Given his propensity for lying, it was hardly reassuring today when President Obama swore up and down that he’s not trying to take our guns away. Bear in mind that he said this in a speech where he doubled down on his position that it’s easier to buy guns than books and also that gun ownership restrictions are not a loss of freedom.

Speaking to the International Association of Chiefs of Police. in Chicago, Obama said:

“Some of you are watching certain television stations or listening to certain radio programs, please do not believe this notion that somehow I’m out to take everyone’s guns away,” he said.

“Every time a mass shootings happens, one of the saddest ironies is suddenly the purchase of guns and ammunition jumps up because folks [are]scared into thinking that, ‘Obama’s gonna use this as an excuse to take away our Second Amendment rights,’ Nobody’s doing that,” continued Obama.

Well, to be fair, every time there’s a high-profile shooting Obama talks about how great gun control is in Australia, a country that did pretty much take everyone’s guns away. If he doesn’t want us to think he coming for our guns, maybe he should stop publicly fantasizing about disarming the American people.

“We’re talking about common-sense measures to make [sure] criminals don’t get them, to make sure background checks work, to make sure that we’re protecting ourselves,” said Obama.

We already have a background check system and that has nothing to do with the way criminals obtain their firearms. There’s no way to extend this background check system to the illegal gun sale black market. How is that common sense? And while we’re at it, how does making it harder for people to legally own guns protect them from these criminals?

“I understand we won’t all agree on this issue, but it’s time to be honest, fewer gun safety laws don’t mean more freedom, they mean more danger. Certainly more danger to police. More grieving families, more Americans terrified their loved ones could be next,” said Obama trying not to laugh.

More freedom means more danger? Or to look at it another way he is saying that more gun control doesn’t mean a loss of freedom. How exactly does that work? And for that matter, how does taking away our right to self-defense make us safer? This is Obama being “honest” by the way. Kind of makes his “I’m not taking your guns away” line seem less truthful, don’t it?[...]

Considering Obama’s record of truth-telling I think it’s a certainty that when he says he isn’t coming for our guns he is in fact coming for our guns. There’s a whole group of people that liked their doctor but couldn’t keep their doctor that would agree with me on this one.

Blog Author's Comments -- I believe that Obama would like to disarm the American citizens and do away with the Second Amendment. And I also believe that before his presidency is over he will do something, perhaps with an executive order, to pass more gun control laws which will have no affect on the criminals but only hurt the law abiding gun owners.

Why does our government want more laws that only affect and criminalize law abiding citizens, instead of throwing the book at criminals caught with guns? It does not surprise me that Obama continues to praise the "Australian model" of "common sense" gun control. I don't expect to see a law officer knocking at my door wanting me to hand over any guns I might have, but I do believe that Obama will try to pass more gun control laws before he leaves office.

My Lazy Gun...

The Story of My Gun

Today I placed my S&W .357 Revolver on the table right next to my front door. I left 6 cartridges beside it, then left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the neighbor across the street mowed the yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near the front of my house.

After about an hour, I checked on the gun. It was still sitting there, right where I had left it. It hadn't moved itself outside. It certainly hadn't killed anyone, even with the numerous opportunities it had presented to do so.

In fact, it hadn't even loaded itself. Well you can imagine my surprise, with all the hype by the Left and the Media about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people. Either the media is wrong or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world.

The United States is 3rd in Murders throughout the World.

But if you take out just 4 cities: Chicago, Detroit, Washington DC, and New Orleans, the United States is 4th from the bottom, in the entire world, for Murders.

These 4 Cities also have the toughest Gun Control Laws in the U.S.

ALL 4 of these cities are controlled by Democrats. It would be absurd to draw any conclusions from this data right?

Well, I'm off to check on my spoons. I hear they're making people fat.
Blog Author's Comments - The Left, a group that prides themselves for being the smartest people in the room, they certainly like to spout "facts" about a subject which most of them are completely unfamiliar.

From groups like “Moms Demand Action” and Michael Bloomberg’s crusade against guns to the anti-gun left–controlled media, the public is subjected to a barrage of misinformation and outright falsehoods regarding firearms.

And so, a primer for you anti-gun liberals.

An “automatic” firearm is one capable of continuous fire (as long as one holds down the trigger). We used to call these “machine guns”… and no, one cannot simply walk into a gun shop and buy one.

A “semi-automatic” is a firearm that fires one bullet each time you pull the trigger (most handguns are semi-automatic). One can walk into a gun shop and buy one of these, provided you meet certain requirements (dependent upon the State in which the shop is located, and the State in which one resides).

A pistol has a removable magazine (not a “clip”) that once filled with ammunition, is placed into the firearm (usually from the bottom). A magazine’s capacity can vary.

A revolver has a “cylinder” that is either taken out once you have discharged all the bullets within the chambers and replaced with another cylinder containing new bullets or is fixed where you remove the empty bullet shells and replace them with live bullets. A cylinder’s capacity can also vary.

I thought the above article was amusing and was meant for the anti-gun left and media.

Biden: New Gun Laws Offer No Guarantees Against Another Mass Shooting

Washington Examiner -- Vice President Joe Biden was perhaps a little too candid on the subject of new gun control laws when talking to reporters Thursday after a meeting with Senate Democrats in the Capitol.

“Nothing we’re going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to a thousand a year from what we’re at now,” Biden said, according to a Politico report.

The reporter also noted, “a [White House] staffer tried unsuccessfully to cut Biden off repeatedly” as he was making the remarks. But, as we all know, when Joe Biden has something to say, he says it.
Blog author's comments - Joe Biden said what most thinking people already know. They will never stop the criminals from having guns or stop mass shootings. Barack Obama and Dem. Sen. Dianne Feinstein are using a tragedy in an attempt to place more restrictions on our Second Amendment rights.

When a government is obsessed with removing guns from law-abiding citizens and wants to create a national gun registry...this is all about control. I have always known that Obama would eventually try this if he had the chance.

Quote of the Day

”A gun is like a parachute. If you really need one, and
don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again!”

Five Facts About Guns, Schools, And Violence

Reason Magazine -- In the wake of December’s horrific mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, Vice President Joe Biden is chairing a panel of experts that will make gun-control recommendations to President Barack Obama by the end of the month. The president has said that enacting new restrictions on guns will be one of his highest priorities.

1. Violent crime – including violent crime using guns – has dropped massively over the past 20 years.

The violent crime rate - which includes murder, rape, and beatings – is half of what it was in the early 1990s. And the violent crime rate involving the use of weapons has also declined at a similar pace.

2. Mass shootings have not increased in recent years.

Despite terrifying events like Sandy Hook or last summer’s theater shooting in Aurora, Colorado, mass shootings are not becoming more frequent.“There is no pattern, there is no increase,” says criminologist James Allen Fox of Northeastern University, who studies the issue. Other data shows that mass killings peaked in 1929.

3. Schools are getting safer.

Across the board, schools are less dangerous than they used to be. Over the past 20 years, the rate of theft per 1,000 students dropped from 101 to 18. For violent crime, the victimization rate per 1,000 students dropped from 53 to 14.

4. There Are More Guns in Circulation Than Ever Before.

Over the past 20 years, virtually every state in the country has liberalized gunownership rules and many states have expanded concealed carry laws that allow more people to carry weapons in more places. There around 300 million guns in the United States and at least one gun in about 45 percent of all households. Yet the rate of gun-related crime continues to drop.

5. “Assault Weapons Bans” Are Generally Ineffective.

While many people are calling for reinstating the federal ban on assault weapons –an arbitrary category of guns that has no clear definition – research shows it would have no effect on crime and violence. “Should it be renewed,” concludes a definitive study, “the ban’s effects on gun violence are likely to be small at best and perhaps too small for reliable measurement.”

Blog author's comments - This is information everyone should be made aware of but the Democrats and anti-gun people do not want to hear facts when they are on a crusade. Guns were always part of Barack Obama's agenda, but he could not do what he would have liked during his first term.

Now with nothing to lose, and the Sandy Hook School shooting fresh in the minds of the people, he will probably bypass Congress by using Executive Orders to make his new gun control bill the law. The meetings VP Joe Biden has had have only been a charade; Obama has known what he wanted in his bill for quite some time.

If Obama had his way there would not be a Second Amendment. Whatever he does to limit guns in America will have no affect on crime. Crime rates are dependent on the people who choose to commit crimes. More gun laws will only penalize the law-abiding citizens.

After Pinpointing Gun Owners, Paper Is a Target

White Plains (NYTimes) -- Local newspapers across the country look for stories that will bring them national attention, but The Journal News, a daily nestled in a wooded office park in a suburb north of New York, may have gotten more than it bargained for.

Two weeks ago, the paper published the names and addresses of handgun permit holders — a total of 33,614 — in two suburban counties, Westchester and Rockland, and put maps of their locations online. The maps, which appeared with the article “The Gun Owner Next Door: What You Don’t Know About the Weapons in Your Neighborhood,” received more than one million views on the Web site of The Journal News — more than twice as many as the paper’s previous record, about a councilman who had two boys arrested for running a cupcake stand.

But the article, which left gun owners feeling vulnerable to harassment or break-ins, also drew outrage from across the country. Calls and e-mails grew so threatening that the paper’s president and publisher, Janet Hasson, hired armed guards to monitor the newspaper’s headquarters in White Plains and its bureau in West Nyack, N.Y.

Personal information about editors and writers at the paper has been posted online, including their home addresses and information about where their children attended school;[...]

“As journalists, we are prepared for criticism,” Ms. Hasson said, as she sat in her meticulously tended office and described the ways her 225 employees have been harassed since the article was published. “But in the U.S., journalists should not be threatened.” She has paid for staff members who do not feel safe in their homes to stay at hotels, offered guards to walk employees to their cars, encouraged employees to change their home telephone numbers and has been coordinating with the local police.

Blog author's comments - Ms. Hasson and her staff have endangered a lot of people. But, they still probably do not believe they did anything wrong.

Obama has said he will push through more gun control laws by the end of January 2013. Who knows what he has planned but, if he uses the 'Assault Weapons' bill Dem. Sen. Dianne Feinstein has proposed we will see more of what has happened in New York.

This information taken from Feinstein's proposed bill: Those who have acquired weapons recently under the pretense of being “grandfathered” in under prior laws see mention in Feinstein’s provisions as well. It requires these weapons to be registered under the National Firearms Act that will include collecting the following information:

--Background check of owner and any transferee;
--Type and serial number of the firearm;
--Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
--Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
--Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

Dianne Feinstein's bill would create a national gun registry. If this is also included in Obama's gun control plan and the gun owners must register their gun, how do they know that their name, address etc. will not be published in their local newspaper or on a map similar to the one put on-line by the 'The Journal News'? More gun laws will penalize the law-abiding gun owners and they are not the problem.
