Prior to his death, the late Sen. John McCain reportedly planned a “final burn” for President Donald Trump. But judging by the facts, he instead wound up burning himself.
This claim of a “final burn” comes from Politico, which reported Tuesday that, “even in death, John McCain has one final burn planned for two of his biggest foes — Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump — at a moment when much of the world will be watching.”
“The Republican senator from Arizona, who planned his own funeral, chose Russian dissident Vladimir Kara-Murza as one of the dignitaries to carry his coffin to the front of the Washington National Cathedral at Saturday’s memorial service. The funeral cortege, or procession, is often one of the most-watched parts of any televised memorial service, and McCain appears to have chosen his pallbearers with that in mind.”
Politico speculated that McCain had chosen Kara-Murza to “send a last message to Putin and Trump, who McCain had criticized for sounding too cozy with the Russian leader, amid an investigation into whether the U.S. president’s allies cooperated with Moscow’s efforts to intervene in the 2016 election.”
That’s just dumb for so many reasons, the key one being that the Russian collusion narrative that McCain bought hook, line and sinker has yet to be proven true. There isn’t at this moment a single piece of evidence proving that Trump colluded with Russian operatives to affect the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. There isn’t even evidence Trump ever met personally with any Russian operatives. But I can’t say the same about McCain.
In a story I wrote yesterday, I outlined in in-depth detail how McCain had met with a sinister Russian oligarch during the 2008 presidential election cycle and then lied about it:
Two years before the late Sen. John McCain got annihilated by former President Barack Hussein Obama in the 2008 presidential election, he met with a sinister Russian oligarch “whose suspected links to anti-democratic and organized-crime figures are so controversial that the U.S. government revoked his visa.”
McCain, then later lied to the media about the nature of the meeting: “The McCain campaign later claimed that ‘any contact between [Russian oligarch] Mr. [Oleg] Deripaska and the senator was social and incidental,’ but afterward Deripaska thanked Davis for arranging ‘such an intimate setting,’” The Nation magazine reported in 2008.
Now think about this. McCain picked some Russian dissident to allegedly stick it to Trump, whom he believed colluded and met with Russians during the 2016 election. Yet the evidence shows it was McCain who once met with a Russian operative during a U.S. presidential election cycle.
Maybe I’m just reading this wrong, but to me it sounds like instead of burning Trump, McCain burned himself by again showing himself to be a petty, bitter jerk, not to mention a raging hypocrite. Sad.

Blog Author's Comments: I'm not so sure McCain is getting the last laugh. Only by those who are also never-Trumpers. It is a pathetic individual who will seek to use his own death for political purposes. John McCain passed the fake, dirty Trump dossier to Congress, and then asked Obama to give the eulogy at his funeral. Don't tell those who truly care about our country, that he was a true American patriot. As Clarence Darrow said "I have never killed a man, but have read many obituaries with great pleasure."
What a sad and jealous person McCain was, he thought he was special, but he was not. It really is pitiable that McCain is using his own funeral, at least in part, as an attempt to impose something against President Trump, which will not work. One would think when the end was near, he would have manned up, and at least tried to act like a real Republican even if he had to fake it.
But no, he has shown who he really was to his bitter end. John McCain did not even invite Sara Palin, his running mate during his presidential bid against Obama, to his funeral. But, I have always thought that she was the only one who attempted to win, yet McCain has also blamed her for his defeat. No surprise that he would never have blame himself.
