Senator McConnell: I Recommended Merrick Garlan For FBI Director...

Breitbart -- Tuesday on Bloomberg, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said he recommended chief judge of the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals Merrick Garland to President Donald Trump to replace James Comey as FBI Director.

McConnell said, “I have spoken with the president about it. I recommended Merrick Garland.”

He continued, “Yeah, it may surprise people, but he has a deep background in criminal law. He was the prosecutor in the Oklahoma City bombing case. And I think it would make it clear that President Trump will continue the tradition at the FBI of having an apolitical professional.”

He added, “It would be good to have Democratic support. And I think if he picks someone with a deep background in law enforcement who has no history of political involvement, a genuine expert — and the reason I mention Garland, he’s an example of that — it will serve him well, serve the country well and lead to, I think, a more bipartisan approach.”

Last year Leader McConnell blocked Garland’s Supreme Court nomination by former President Barack Obama after the death of Antonin Scalia.
Blog Author's Comments: Garland wasn't conservative enough for the high court, but McConnell believes everything would be okay with him running the FBI? McConnell is spineless and Garland is a liberal Democrat, is there anything acceptable or satisfactory about either one of these people? I am hopeful that this will be McConnell's last term in office. He and Ryan are no help at all. The both may as well join the Democratic Party with the way they are conducting themselves. And let us not forget, McConnell and Ryan are supposed to be the leaders of the Senate and House. This shows that in politics anything can happen. Neither of them expected Donald Trump to even win the nomination much less be our president.

Senate Majority Leader McConnell is a Trump backstabber, just like the rest of his "leadership" team, and their counterparts in the House. I have absolutely no respect for Mitch McConnell, none at all. This behavior is exactly why President Trump is having a difficult time passing his agenda, which the country desperately needs. And the Republicans are not lifting a finger to help him; they are undermining him at every turn.

The GOP’s, so called, leadership is still obsessed with making the Democrats happy, and keeping the press off their backs. Can it get any worse then Mitch McConnell? Is it possible to have a few Republican leaders who will stop bowing to the Democrats and liberal media? I cannot remember anything McConnell said that was worth listening to. Go back to the farm Mitch and let the big boys fight the 'fake news' networks and the losers in the Democrat Party. The Senate and House leaders don’t seem to understand or they don’t care, that if they take a pass with regard to helping Trump be a successful president, America may never again elect a Republican to the White House.

There is some good news concerning what the RINO McConnell had to say. U.S. appeals court judge Merrick Garland, turned away by the Senate last year for a Supreme Court post, is not interested in serving as FBI director, two sources said on Tuesday, even as the top Senate Republican recommended him for the job.
