American Lookout -- Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, is a bit surprised that Mitt Romney is being considered for secretary of state in the Trump Administration.
“I can think of 20 other people who would be more naturally compatible with the Trump vision of foreign policy,” Gingrich told Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”
Trump’s decision has not come without any conflict. The choice for the secretary of state position has been delayed by an internal struggle between the supporters of Romney, and those suggesting the former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Some are suggesting the President-elect should keep searching for other candidates.
Here is what Gingrich had to say on Fox News:
Blog Author's Comments -- President-Elect Donald Trump should do what he can to stay away from those who have been hostile to him, and I do not believe that he can trust Mitt Romney. Also, I don't think Romney is tough enough for the task and as Newt Gingrich mentioned there are many other people who would be much more capable of doing the job of Secretary of State.
My first choice was John Bolton but Rudy Giuliani would also be very good in this very important position. I would also be fine with Trump offering the job to Newt Gingrich, though I doubt he would accept it. I just cannot imagine Romney anywhere in Trump's administration. Gingrich is correct when he expressed that Romney will not genuinely represent the best interests of President Trump, thus the best interests of the United States.
