Trump Punts To Pelosi On State Of The Union Address

Newly minted Speaker Of The House Nancy Pelosi has been drunk on power ever since regaining the mighty gavel and has been engaged in an ugly pissing contest with President Trump over the government shutdown.

In one of the snits that are what now pass for political discourse with Democrats, Pelosi went to the unprecedented length to disinvite Trump from giving the annual State Of The Union address even though she had previously extended the traditional invitation.

Not to be deterred by the foot-stomping Californian, Trump defiantly indicated that he would be giving the SOTU anyway but Pelosi then upped the ante again by escalating with a letter to the POTUS effectively canceling the speech.
Nancy Pelosi:
This afternoon, I sent Donald Trump a letter informing him that the House will not consider a concurrent resolution authorizing the President’s State of the Union address in the House Chamber until government has opened.
It was at this point where Trump supporters were ready for a scathing statement showing Nancy who it is that wears the pants along with the announcement of an alternate venue for the SOTU.
Donald Trump:
As the Shutdown was going on, Nancy Pelosi asked me to give the State of the Union Address. I agreed. She then changed her mind because of the Shutdown, suggesting a later date. This is her prerogative - I will do the Address when the Shutdown is over. I am not looking for an alternative venue for the SOTU Address because there is no venue that can compete with the history, tradition and importance of the House Chamber. I look forward to giving a “great” State of the Union Address in the near future!
Talk about demoralizing. There will be those who will blow this off that Trump is just playing four-dimensional chess but there’s just no way to put lipstick on this pig.

If he caves on this, what will he cave on next?

What do you all think?

Blog Author's Comments: The President could have chosen a different venue and gained a great deal. He could have had the necessary security and invited all of the members of both parties. He could have presented a great State of the Union address, but also taken the time to tell the American people why the wall is so important for the country with valid facts.

He could have done all of this without having to listen to the hecklers and boos from the gallery and grumbling from the Democrats. So, why not? I believe he has missed an excellent chance to convince many voters why he wants the security for the country and all people and why it is so necessary. Also ask the question of the American people why the Democrats do not also want the same thing?

Pelosi On GOP Attempt To Repeal Healthcare Law

Pelosi: If All Americans Loved Their Healthcare, We'd Still
Take It Over - Repealing it is "Very Serious Violence"

WASHINGTON (AP) — Democrat Nancy Pelosi says she has no regrets on her last day as House speaker, a reign that lasted four years and ended after the November elections.

Pelosi said Tuesday she looks forward to leading a loyal but tenacious opposition in the House. She started by calling Republicans hypocrites for trying to repeal the new health care law, which would increase the deficit.

Republican John Boehner of Ohio will be sworn in as the new speaker on Wednesday, and Pelosi will be demoted to minority leader. Republicans have already scheduled a vote for next week on repealing the sweeping new health care law, an effort that is sure to fail in the Senate

Blog author's comments - Nancy Pelosi said that the attempt by the GOP to repeal the health care law would do "very serious violence to the national debt and deficit."

Repeal bill of the Healthcare law by the Republican Party pdf. file here.

We know that the GOP attempt to repeal the Health Care law will not get by the Senate but--they should send it to them promptly. Send it numerous times prior to the election of 2012.

Obamacare should be one of the Republicans main talking points while campaigning for 2012. I believe the majority of people do not want Obamacare. It is another form of government control of our lives.

Let us not forget what the now former Speaker Pelosi said in March 2010 - "We have to pass the bill so you can find out what is in it."

Now she is worried about increasing the deficit but on January 4, 2007 after Pelosi became Speaker of the House she said "No new deficit spending." (See Video) At that time the national debt was $8.6 trillion, it is now $14 trillion.

Will Nancy Pelosi Retire if Dems Lose?

Pelosi May Retire if Democrats Lose Control of the House

americaswatchtower.com
As if we needed any more incentive to vote next Tuesday, it is now being speculated that if the Democrats lose control of the House Nancy Pelosi will retire. Not just give up her gavel mind you, she may retire altogether from the House.

With several Democrats stating publicly that they will not vote for her as Speaker of the House if Democrats somehow manage to hold on to their majority, and with many Democrats refusing to state their support for Nancy Pelosi as Speaker, it seems as if there it a looming power struggle growing within the ranks of House Democrats.

It has been reported that if the Democrats do hold onto the House that Nancy Pelosi would not seek another term as Speaker, but this news takes this election to another level. This news raises the stakes of this election even higher.

This turns Nancy Pelosi’s re-election bid into a national election–a referendum on the Speaker as well as the president. If this speculation is accurate we will not only have the chance to vote against her figuratively, we will have the chance to vote against her literally. We cannot let this chance pass us by!

And when you take into account the fact that most pundits agree that Democrats can not avoid losing the House, the likelihood of Democrats who will most likely blame her for the demise of their House majority - voting for Nancy Pelosi as minority leader seem next to zero.- Continue reading > > >

Blog author's comments - Aside from the GOP taking control of the House it would be satisfying to see Pelosi retire and Reid lose in Nevada.

I don't believe that San-Fran-Nan would enjoy losing her position of power. So if the Dems lose the House she is likely to retire. As for Reid, he could very well steal this election if he does not see a clear victory.

It would be a breath of fresh air to see these two out of the political picture. Perhaps this is all too much to hope for. We will see what the voters have to say next Tuesday. If what Obama has done to the country in two years does not force the people to the polls to vote against the Democrats, I have no idea what it will take.

I hope to see the Republicans in control of the House and pick up 7 or possibly 8 seats in the Senate.

Okay people - go to the polls on Tuesday, November 2 and remove the Democrats and RINO's. Do us all a favor so we can begin to change the direction in which Obama has the country and to convince the people that a Democrat president in 2012 is not acceptable. In my opinion Obama has proven that.

Nancy Pelosi - Least Liked Congressional Leader

Congressional Favorability Ratings

Speaker of the House - Nancy Pelosi, Remains Least Liked Congressional Leader

34% favorable, 59% unfavorable

Rasmussenreports.com
With less than six weeks to go until Election Day, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi remains the most unpopular of the four top congressional leaders as she has been since this session of Congress began early last year. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is a close second.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 59% of Likely U.S. Voters have an unfavorable opinion of Pelosi, including 47% who view the San Francisco Democrat Very Unfavorably. Thirty-four percent (34%) regard Pelosi favorably, with 12% Very Favorable toward her. Only seven percent (7%) have no opinion of the speaker.

Since February of last year, Pelosi’s favorables have ranged from a low of 28% to a high of 43% in April just after passage of the national health care bill. Her unfavorables have run from 52% to 64%.

Reid, who is struggling for reelection in Nevada, is seen favorably by 30% and unfavorably by 50%. This includes Very Favorables of six percent (6%) and Very Unfavorables of 33%.- Read more
When Nancy Pelosi came to power, she promised that the Democrats will have "most honest and most ethical congress in history."

Blog author's comments - Nancy Pelosi: Your approval rating, according to the Rasmussen poll, does not surprise me. Anyone who has followed your career, especially during the last four years, should understand why your rating is so low. You should not be a member of Congress.

The midterms don't look so good for your fellow Democrats. I have heard the party leadership has determined that this is just a simple problem of those running for office mis-communicating with the voters. The leadership has concluded that faulty messaging is the problem. They believe that just a few simple changes in the candidates message is all that is needed.

Here are their simple tips for re-election:

1. Avoid talking about your legislative accomplishments.
2. Avoid talking about party leadership.
3. It’s about the minority (other) party, not about you.
4. Winning Message : No matter how bad things are, things could always be worse.
5. Winning Message : The best things always cost more (make Health Reform a winner).
6. Winning Message : Tax cuts for the rich hurts you.
7. Winning Message : Bush never really left office, he is still running things.
8. A timeless winner for every election: Accuse the other party of racism.

Nancy Pelosi, I really hope to see you pass your gavel to a member of the Republican Party in January.
