the Economy, Bipartisanship and More Spending
Obama will use tonight's State of the Union address to call for a common ground approach to get the nation's financial house in order. He has to do this after the defeat his party suffered in November.
He will also talk about jobs and "targeted investments" but the GOP should view these "investments" as only more stimulus money.
This (video) was President Obama's posturing attempt to act bipartisan and conciliatory at last year's State of the Union address. Of course, just weeks after this the President worked with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to ram his health care legislation through the house without any contribution from Republicans.
Needless to say, President Obama never scheduled the meetings he made such a big deal about in his address.
Blog author's comments - This year Obama will say much the same thing he did in last year's State of The Union address.
He will again talk about jobs creation and bipartisanship but he has no plan to accomplish this. He will probably use the term "investments" but this is only more stimulus money. The MSM will praise him and his meaningless words as usual.
Do the voters watch the SOTU? If so, do they believe Obama and what he will tell them? Nothing will change until he is out of office and that should be the main goal of the GOP.
What is the problem with some Republicans? Many of them are lining up a Dem as their 'date' for the SOTU address. They just won a huge election in November via the Tea Party Movement and their voters. The GOP now has some power and it is not the time to play nice with the Democrats.
The Democrats should be considered the enemy of the GOP if the Republicans want to turn this country around towards a new direction and defeat Obama in 2012.
