Most people who wear contact lenses have trouble at times putting their lenses in their eyes. The Idea of putting contact lenses on a cat might seem to some people a bit ridiculous.
But, that is what the owners of the cat Ernest did. Ernest is a 15 year old black and white, very handsome boy. He has lived at the RSPCA center in Godshill, Isle of Wight for 13 years after being injured in a car accident.
The lenses were fitted by a veterinarian at the center. Ernest suffers from an eye disease named Entropian - an inward rolling of the eyelids, which causes inflammation and hinders sight.
Because of his age they did not want to perform an operation on Ernest because they did not know how he would react to the anesthetic, so the idea of lenses seems to have worked just fine for him.
The manager of the center Paula Sadler said the vision of Ernest was quite bad and he had trouble seeing where he was going . "Since he was fitted with the contact lenses his eyes have opened up and he has a new lease on life." "The lenses have worked wonders."
