Ted Cruz: Holder Must Appoint IRS Special Prosecutor Or Face Impeachment
Time -- Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) added that the Justice Department is “the most partisan” in its history.
Attorney General Eric Holder must appoint a special prosecutor to investigate IRS targeting of conservative groups or expect to face impeachment proceedings, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said on the chamber floor Thursday.
“When an Attorney General mocks the rule of law, when an Attorney General corrupts the Department of Justice by conducting a nakedly partisan investigation to cover up political wrongdoing that conduct by any reasonable measure constitutes high crimes and misdemeanors,” said Cruz. “Attorney General Eric Holder has the opportunity to do the right thing. He could appoint a special prosecutor with meaningful independence who is not a major Obama donor.”
The donor Cruz is referring to is Justice Department prosecutor Barbara Bosserman, who has given $6,750 to the Democratic Party and President Obama over the past ten years, according to the Washington Post. Bosserman has been chosen to lead the Justice Department probe into the IRS.
Cruz and other conservatives are dismayed that the Justice Department has yet to indict anyone 13 months after the IRS admitted that it targeted nonprofit political advocacy groups with the terms “tea party” or “patriot” in their names from 2010 to 2012.
Finance Committee Chairman Sen. Ron Wyden (D—Ore.) took to the floor after Cruz’s speech to object to the call for a special prosecutor, saying that there have been five IRS investigations either concluded or ongoing and another could add “significant cost” to the taxpayer. He also said the call was “premature” given that his committee’s report, conducted with Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and his staff, is “almost finished.”
The House of Representatives has impeached only one cabinet official in its history, Secretary of War William Belknap in 1876. He was acquitted in his Senate trial.
Blog author's comments - As long as Obama provides cover for Holder, Holder does not have to do anything except what Obama wants him to do. And Obama does not want any kind of special prosecutor appointed to look into anything regarding his myriad of scandals. I like Senator Cruz and agree with what he would like to do, but it won't happen and Holder and Obama know it. Even if Holder would appoint a Special Prosecutor it would only be for show, there would be no way the person would be impartial trying to get to the truth. Most thinking Americans, if they have been paying attention, know this.
Even if Holder could be removed from office Senator Cruz would also need his fellow GOP members to back him. Cruz would not only be fighting the Democrats and the liberal media, but also the 'Republican Establishment' of his own party. The Senate and House both need a few more members like Ted Cruz. He is one of the few in both the Senate and House with the backbone to at least attempt to get something done, while Obama and his Democrats continue to trash the country.

Fox News -- Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Megyn Kelly discuss AG Eric Holder and the DOJ targeting of Fox News reporter James Rosen.
Ted Cruz: “It’s unprecedented. The degree of willingness of this administration to target a reporter of this network as an unindicted co-conspirator, that is without precedent. And unfortunately, I think it’s part and parcel of a pattern of this administration of not respecting the Bill of Rights."
Demonstrated a Willingness to Disregard the Law"
Blog author's comments - I believe Ted Cruz is one of the very few trustworthy people on Capitol Hill. I hope he has a long career. The Republican Party could use many more like him.
Eric Holder was chosen to be the head of the DOJ by Obama because he is what he is. He will do whatever it takes to push Obama's agenda for the country whether it is within the law, constitutional or not. Holder will do what he believes he can get away with... and so far he has escaped unscathed.
Cruz is correct Holder has acted like he is above the law and become blatant in his disregard for the laws of our country. He needs to be held accountable and punished for all the things he has been involved in. But Holder isn't exactly the real problem, it's his boss Obama who he receives his guidance from and who will protect him.
Barack Obama knows exactly what Holder is doing because they have to get together and discuss their plans...decide what they want to do...to attain their goals and retain their power over their enemy the GOP or anyone who may cause problems for them. Also, Obama will never remove Eric Holder from his position as AG because Holder knows so much concerning what Obama has done.
