ESPN -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has made over $212 million in salary since 2006.
Goodell is the highest paid person in the NFL.
And he’s destroying the league.
Goodell makes more than Tom Brady, Eli Manning or any other player in the league.
And viewership for the NFL is down again this year following the continued National Anthem race protests.
On Wednesday the NFL renewed Roger Goodell’s contract for five years.
And the contract reportedly includes the private plane for life.
Blog Author's Comments: Amazingly, I once thought NFL owners were somewhat intelligent business people. It will be really curious to see how many season ticket holders renew for next year. Many corporations purchase quite a few of the season tickets now days. They give the tickets away as incentives to clients and employees. Somehow, I don’t see that as much of an enticement these days. It would seem that the owners are happy enough to pay Goodell millions to ruin their business in the name of "justice."
And Goodell and the NFL owners, and players, will say we are racist for "not wanting to watch black athletes". All of them realizing their faults will be the last thing they think of, if ever. If we gaze ahead 5 years, the length of his new contract, what is the NFL going to look like? Is all this anti-American, anti-military and anti-police blatant demonstration just going to blow over? Are the ratings a blip on the radar? I personally don't think so. I believe the actions of NFL players, owners and Goodell have done permanent damage to the NFL brand.
When it becomes widely known that the NFL is taking money from supporting other organizations and causes and re-directing the money into social justice causes, there is going to be more erosion of the base customers who have made the NFL what it is now. The NFL is not on an upward trajectory. So, why give the commissioner a raise in pay from his reportedly $30 million a year to $50 million, lifetime health care and lifetime use with, no restrictions, of a private plane? Someone should ask the owners. I had at one time thought Goodell would be lucky to retain his job at the end of his previous contract.
