National Guard To Walk Ann Coulter Onto UC Berkeley Campus
Berkeley Canceling Coulter's Speech Over Protest Fears
Blog Author's Comments: Ann Coulter vows to speak at UC Berkeley despite planned speech cancellation. Regardless of the decision of University of California, Berkeley, officials to cancel conservative commentator Ann Coulter's planned speech for April 27, Coulter and organizers are promising she will still find a way to speak at the campus.
Early Wednesday, UC Berkeley Vice Chancellor Scott Biddy and Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Stephen Sutton emailed a message to organizers that "given currently active security threats, it is not possible to assure that the event could be held successfully."
The administrators write that they "have been unable to find a safe and suitable venue" based on the university police department's safety assessment. They note in particular the riots that engulfed the campus back in February when campus Republicans invited a right-wing speaker.
Without a doubt those who intend to protest Coulter's speech are either leftist children or hired protestors, intent on doing as much damage to the campus buildings and surrounding area because this is what many are being paid to do. The National Guard is not that bad of an idea. Allow them to crack some heads and arrest the people who believe themselves to be hard cases and able to do exactly what they desire.
The police officers should also put an end to this and not sit in their cars like many of them did the last time there was a violent protest, not long ago, on the UC Berkeley campus. What more proof do people need? The progressive left is a Fascist ideology that is trying to silence any and all opposition through intimidation, threats, bullying and violence. Tell the leaders of the school that if this continues, federal funds will be withheld, and academic credentials pulled. Make going to school there completely pointless. The violent protests have to be stopped some time, so why not do it now?
After initially banning her over 'security concerns,' UC Berkeley reversed their decision on Thursday afternoon to block an appearance by Ann Coulter. Perhaps the folks at UC Berkeley do read this blog.
