Obama Vows Climate Efforts But Stays Vague on Agenda

The Hill -- President Obama on Wednesday vowed new efforts to tackle global warming during his second term but offered no concrete agenda to expand on current administration policies to address what he called a major threat.[...]

Obama touted existing administration policies he said are helping to curb emissions. They include major increases in vehicle mileage standards that have already been finalized for model years through 2025, and administration aid for green power projects.

But he said that plans for second-term policies remain a work in progress. “We have not done as much as we need to,” Obama said.[...]

“What I am going to be doing over the next several weeks, the next several months, is ... having a wide-ranging conversation with scientists, engineers and elected officials to find out what more can we do to making short-term progress in reducing carbon and then working through an education process that I think is necessary, a discussion, a conversation across the country about what realistically can we do long-term to make sure that this is not something we are passing on to future generations that is going to be very expensive and very painful to deal with,” Obama said.[...]

“I am a firm believer that climate change is real, that it is impacted by human behavior, and carbon emissions, and as a consequence, I think we’ve got an obligation to future generations to do something about it,” Obama said.

Blog author's comments - The Earth was here long before us, it will be here long after we are gone. The temperature has always changed and will continue to change. To think that humans would be able to take any deliberate actions that would control something as massive and complex as climate is extremely arrogant.

President Obama is obviously a global warming believer. He has thrown so much money down the drain with loans to green energy companies and many have already gone bankrupt. The Chevy 'Volt' is another Obama boondoggle.

Of course I am interested in new sources of energy but most of it will be for future use. At present what drives our country and economy is oil and natural gas. But, green energy is what Obama apparently wants to concentrate on and invest in.
