Wasington Examiner -- CHARLOTTE – Earlier this evening, in an appearance on Fox News, Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz accused the Washington Examiner of “deliberately” misquoting her comments claiming that Israeli Ambassador Michael Oren stated that Republicans were “dangerous for Israel.”[...]
By way of background, on Monday, the Obama campaign’s Jewish outreach arm held a training session at the Democratic National Convention instructing Jewish Democrats on how to convince fellow Jews to vote for Obama by breaking through what she characterized as Republican distortions of President Obama’s record on Israel.
Here’s how I reported on Wasserman Schultz’s statement in my writeup of the event:
As she was wrapping up her remarks, she claimed that, “We know, and I’ve heard no less than Ambassador Michael Oren say this, that what the Republicans are doing is dangerous for Israel.”
The Washington Examiner could find no such public reference by Oren accusing Republicans of being “dangerous” to Israel.
Below, find the audio of what she said on Monday, which I’m confident demonstrates that I quoted her accurately in my story.
After listening to the audio, you can check out the video of her on Fox News saying she was “deliberately” misquoted, and judge for yourself.
Via the The Washington Free Beacon -- Israeli Ambassador: Debbie Lied
Israel’s ambassador to the United States rejected the claim made yesterday by the head of the Democratic National Committee that he described the Republican party as “dangerous for Israel.”
In an emailed statement, Amb. Michael Oren said “I categorically deny that I ever characterized Republican policies as harmful to Israel. Bipartisan support is a paramount national interest for Israel, and we have great friends on both sides of the aisle.”
Blog author's comments - The Chair of the Democratic National Committee Debbie Wasserman Schultz caught lying again. Is there anyone who does not understand why the Democrats selected her as their national chairperson?
Wasserman Schultz thought she could get away with this. It was quite satisfying that Ambassador Michael Oren denied what Wasserman Schultz claimed was said.
