MLB World Series 2010

I made this prediction at the beginning of the 2009 baseball season. World Series - "Yankees vs. Philadelphia, Yankees will win." Yes, they did. I will do the same again this year for World Series 2010.

The same two teams with the same outcome. There is no team in Major League Baseball that compares with the talent the Yankees put on the field. A few of their star players are now in their mid thirties and perhaps the team will look a bit different within a few years. But, at this point, these players still play very well.

I know for many fans in small town baseball markets, their complaint is that it is unfair for the Yankees to have and to spend the money they do on player salaries and because of this they are able to go after the 'high dollar' players which are in demand. Sorry folks, such is life. We would all like to drive BMW's and live as if money would never be a problem. Life is not fair.

The Yankee ownership has the money and chooses to spend a good deal of it on the team. Plus, the Yankees are a very good draw and a money maker in New York because of their fan base. The team does quite well with attendance at their home park, but they also put fans in the seats when they play on the road. Many of the players enjoy the boos heard from the opposing fans. They are used to it, they play in New York.

More than a few very good players were not successful in New York because they could not take the heat. Both the fans and the press can be brutal and the players must have a thick skin to endure what they sometimes encounter in front of their own fans and still produce a high quality of play. Anyway, there it is, Yankees world champs in 2010. Of course, there is a very slight possibility that I could be wrong.
