The Left Continues - Trayvon Martin Will Receive A Posthumous College Degree...

American Thinker -- You all probably remember Trayvon Martin, the celebrated black youth who was shot while trying to pound night watchman George Zimmerman's head into the pavement. To the left, Trayvon is a hero, a young man who was shot simply because he was black. To everyone else, he was a thug, with all the evidence, including the bruises on Zimmerman's head, pointing to the fact that Trayvon was trying to kill him when he got shot.

But now Trayvon has "turned his life around" and gotten a degree in aeronautics from Florida Memorial University. I think being dead helped him a lot with his studies; Trayvon won the degree posthumously, because he loved to fly. I don't know about the flying part, but Trayvon sure loved to get high. Whether Trayvon could have earned the degree if he were alive was debatable. He was suspended from high school for getting into fights with others.

In the months and days before his shooting death, Trayvon Martin was getting into fights, getting high on marijuana, getting suspended from school and talking with friends about getting a gun, according to cellphone text messages that defense lawyers for shooter George Zimmerman released Thursday.

Trayvon’s chronically misspelled, slang-filled messages... [featured] pictures of a semi-automatic pistol, marijuana plants and Trayvon flipping his middle fingers...

And then there were his exotic tastes in fine jewelry:

In October, 2011, Martin was caught on a school surveillance video defacing lockers with obscenities using a magic marker pen. The police investigator said Martin was “hiding and being suspicious.” When the officer confronted Martin the next day he found Martin’s backpack contained some women’s jewelry — a watch, some silver wedding bands and diamond-encrusted earrings. Martin told the officer, “They’re not mine. A friend gave it to me.” Continuing his search, the officer found a large flat-headed screwdriver which the officer described as a burglar’s tool. The jewelry was turned over to the police and Martin was suspended for defacing school property.

Could Trayvon really have gotten a degree in aeronautics from Florida Memorial University? F-U has only a 39% graduation rate. Could Trayvon have really allocated enough time to study when his life was already busy smoking weed, beating up people, and stealing ladies' jewelry?

I predict that Trayvon will have a very successful post-life career. Now that his life can be fictionalized like a Cosby show character, I am sure he will get all kinds of Ph.D.'s and other educational honors to celebrate what a scholarly and sagacious individual this young man would have grown up to become, if only he hadn't been cut down in his prime while he was trying to murder someone.

Blog Author's Comments: Had Trayvon Martin not gotten himself killed while apparently casing houses to burgle, there is little chance he would have graduated even from high school. Any fortune teller looking into his future would have seen either an early grave or prison. But liberals revere him, having transformed this otherwise useless thug into the personification of tyranny, the noble savage who will help them tear down American civilization, starting with our right of self-defense. Many people of color hold him up as evidence of their supposed oppression.

Plenty of Democrats and far-left liberals continue to believe he would have turned out to be a model citizen because if the readers remember Obama saying, after his death and before the trial, "If I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon." This punk receiving a college degree or any degree is a complete joke if it were not so pathetic. They should have awarded Martin a posthumous GED. The court transcript read that this thug snuck up behind Zimmerman and told him “You’re going to die tonight.” I would think that Zimmerman believed the threat was real. The Left’s resolute refusal to follow reasonable logic is as pathological as it is ignorant. And most certainly,Trayvon Martin's family will want to know if a check comes with the degree.

NAACP Introduces 'Trayvon's Law'

Digital Journal -- The 2012 killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin has led to various rallies, boycotts, and even songs. Now, the NAACP is leading the way in an effort to force legal changes across the United States in an attempt to prevent another similar situation.

The NAACP created "Trayvon's Law," a series of legislative policies that aims to "end racial profiling, repeal stand your ground laws, form effective civil complaint review boards to provide oversight of police misconduct, improve training for community watch groups, mandate law enforcement to collect data on homicide cases involving non-whites, and address the school to prison pipeline," NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous explained in a statement according to AllHipHop.

"What happened to Trayvon Martin must never happen again," Jealous said according to Jet Mag "Trayvon's Law will serve as the foundation for community advocates as they work to end laws and practices that contributed to his death and to create new policies that will prevent further tragedies."

The NAACP will push "Trayvon's Law" at the local, state, and federal levels. The organization's Florida State Conference will be working to immediately enact the law in Florida, AllHipHop reports. The organization is also urging states across the US to adopt the law.

Blog author's comments - The NAACP and their fellow race baiters are going to milk Trayvon Martin's death for all it’s worth as long as they can. Maybe they should teach personal accountability instead. The case never was entirely about George Zimmerman...he was used to advance the agenda of some people. What happened will happen again. New policies won't change it.

So will they enact a series of legislative policies instructing black teenagers and young men to not commit crimes? Not join gangs? Not impregnate women and if they do to help raise the child? I don't think so. They should attempt to impress upon them the advantages of staying in school so they can get a job and be a productive member of society. This won't happen because that would require the NAACP populous to accept some responsibility.

What Mr. Jealous has outlined won't change anything but that's what his base wants to hear and he is going to pretend to provide it…instead of doing the hard work of addressing the real problems in the black community.

The NAACP and the Obama administration along with their leftist base could not believe that George Zimmerman was found to be not guilty of any crime so this will continue. The AG Eric Holder's DOJ along with Martin's parents are pushing for a civil suit against Zimmerman. I don't believe Holder or the parents are doing this as 'Justice for Trayvon.'

Al Sharpton Goes Mainstream, For Gullible Media Only

Bizpac Review -- Al Sharpton has fooled another one.

A Politico piece on Saturday tries to describe the race-baiting shakedown artist from New York as a new man, a different character from the one who launched the Tawana Brawley hoax in 1987 to build a national name on a monstrous lie, different from the man who helped foment the Crown Heights riots of 1991 in New York.

Different even from the MSNBC host who helped lay the groundwork for the current protests over the George Zimmerman acquittal by putting the equally race-baiting attorney for the Trayvon Martin family on his television show to preemptively question whether a jury made up of five white women and a Hispanic woman could judge the case of a Hispanic man shooting to death a black teenager.

“The Rev. Al Sharpton has gone mainstream” is the first line of the piece, headlined "Rev. Al Sharpton's front and center." (See below for column.)

It continues by describing Sharpton as a “moderate” who’s letting more radical elements push the Zimmerman protests forward, it calls him an adviser to President Obama (which, unfortunately, is true), it calls him a “civil rights leader” (which is a meaningless catch-all for any black person with an audience these days), and it quotes an admirer calling him a “voice of calm” (which is manifestly absurd.)

In other words, it’s garbage.

Fortunately, former Rep. Allen West, R-Fla., was available for comment.

“I think he’s taking advantage of whatever a very left-wing media drives people into a frenzy over,” West told the Politico reporter, who apparently didn’t understand what West was getting at – or what media West might have been talking about.

“That’s what he does… He is keeping himself relevant based upon the grievances and hardships of others and really capitalizing on some misguided political priorities …”

West summed it up neatly.

“I think it’s pretty simple. I think he is not the voice of the black community, and the black community needs sincere voices that are going to stand up for the true conditions that are ailing them.”

The rest of the piece is an effort to cancel out what West is saying, but it’s just the simple truth.

As he has over and over again in his career, Sharpton’s just using the Zimmerman case – and the racial hatred he’s fomenting – to benefit himself at the expense of the people he claims to lead.

And as the Politico piece shows, he’s fooled another one.

But not Allen West.

Blog author's comments - To sum this up is quite simple, Al Sharpton is and will always be a race-baiter and the 'Politico' is either 'gullible' or covering for him. Unfortunately many blacks in America will always believe him along with many far left liberals. What Sharpton does is always an attempt to make any racial situation worse than it is. This is what he does best.

President Obama is also guilty of doing his share of dividing the races. The gap between the white and black citizens of our country is much wider since Obama has been the president. I guess his time spent as a community organizer will always be a part of him. In the George Zimmerman - Trayvon Martin case, Zimmerman was found to be not guilty of any crime by the jury, but this has not stopped Sharpton and Obama from attempting to use this case for their own advantage.

I can expect these actions from Sharpton but had hoped Obama would conduct himself as more presidential. He has not. He will use this case to promote his agenda for many of the things he wants to accomplish before he leaves office. And as long as the public continues to hear about Zimmerman, Martin and racism by the media this deflects from the scandals and problems Obama is facing and trying to hide from.

450K Sign NAACP Petition For DOJ To Investigate Trayvon Martin Shooting

Orlando Sentinel -- Nearly 450,000 people have signed a petition created by the NAACP after a jury found George Zimmerman not-guilty in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin Saturday, calling for the U.S. Department of Justice to launch a civil rights investigation.

"A jury has acquitted George Zimmerman, but we are not done demanding justice for Trayvon Martin. Sign our petition to the Department of Justice today," read a note accompanying the petition on MoveOn.org, which partnered with the NAACP and urged people to sign on its site as well.

By mid-afternoon Sunday, the petition had garnered more than 275,000 signatures on the NAACP site, and the petition by MoveOn.org drew almost 175,000.

The petition, created by NAACP President Benjamin Todd Jealous, and addressed to U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, calls for the DOJ to file "civil rights charges against Mr. Zimmerman for this egregious violation."

On Sunday afternoon, a DOJ spokesperson released statement, which read, in part:

"As the Department first acknowledged last year, we have an open investigation into the death of Trayvon Martin...Experienced federal prosecutors will determine whether the evidence reveals a prosecutable violation of any of the limited federal criminal civil rights statutes within our jurisdiction, and whether federal prosecution is appropriate in accordance with the Department's policy governing successive federal prosecution following a state trial."

Blog author's comments - I would not be surprised if the AG Eric Holder and the DOJ file a civil suit against George Zimmerman. Holder and Obama are hearing a lot of noise not only from the NAACP but also the liberals and race hustlers who do not want this case to end the way it has. They were sure that Zimmerman would have at least been found guilty of manslaughter. They did not get what they wanted and will not rest until they have exhausted all that they can do and will continue to stir the pot of racism. The NAACP wants a sacrifice to their right of entitlement and that is George Zimmerman.

The case should have never come to trial and Zimmerman should have never been charged with 2nd degree murder. I really don't believe Trayvon Martin meant that much for many of the people screaming for ‘justice.’ They are attempting to use his death as an example of what they will always see as wide spread racism towards black people of this country.

Shouldn't some of the most vocal critics be more concerned about the many young black men who are being shot almost every day in most major cities in the country? Not one of these so-called legal experts has expressed any outrage over the 72 people shot and 12 killed in Chicago over the 4th of July weekend. Why is that I ask...it may be because none of the shootings in Chicago involved a "white" person pulling the trigger.

WJLA -- In an effort to better educate students and their parents about race relations and social injustice, a D.C. elementary school has declared Friday “Trayvon Martin Day.”

Teachers at Malcolm X Elementary in Southeast are using the unfolding case and the story surrounding Martin as part of their "Let's Keep Our Children Safe" seminar.

Malcolm X Elementary Principal J. Harrison Coleman says that she hopes the lesson will help reduce the needless violence and bullying in the community.

"The children at Malcolm X know the name Trayvon Martin," Coleman said. "They know the incident. They know because of what they see in the news and what they experience every day."

The staff here hopes this day makes the students at Malcolm X understand that someone always cares. Coleman specifically is calling on more parents to volunteer and get involved.

The Trayvon Martin - George Zimmerman Saga Continues

Autopsy results show Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles
SANFORD, Fla. -- WFTV has confirmed that autopsy results show 17-year-old Trayvon Martin had injuries to his knuckles when he died.

The information could support George Zimmerman's claim that Martin beat him up before Zimmerman shot and killed him.

The autopsy results come as Zimmerman's attorney, Mark O’Mara continues to go over other evidence in the case.

O’Mara wouldn't comment on the autopsy evidence, but WFTV legal analyst Bill Sheaffer said it's better for the defense than it is for the prosecution.

WFTV has learned that the medical examiner found two injuries on Martin’s body: The fatal gunshot wound and broken skin on his knuckles.

When you compare Trayvon’s non-fatal injury with Zimmerman's bloody head wounds, the autopsy evidence is better for the defense, Sheaffer said.

“It goes along with Zimmerman's story that he acted in self-defense, because he was getting beaten up by Trayvon Martin." Sheaffer said.

The injury to Martin’s knuckle also fits with Zimmerman's story that before he shot and killed Martin, Martin had broken his nose and knocked him to the ground, slamming his head on the sidewalk.

Blog author's comments - This case has become a mainstream media circus, with help from the usual 'race baiters'. I also believe what helped fuel the fire was President Obama's comment when he said "if I had a son, he'd look like Trayvon."

The special prosecutor in Sanford Fla. did not give this case to a grand jury. This could be because she may have thought they would have come back with no charge or a much lesser charge than what Zimmerman now faces.

She made sure with the evidence she had, that he would go to trial by charging him with second degree murder. Now the FBI is also investigating the incident and death of Martin as a 'hate crime.'

If George Zimmerman completely controlled the encounter as part of a premeditated act of aggression, then how does the prosecution explain the injuries to Zimmerman? Why would a person surrender control to someone they intended to harm? As soon as Zimmerman loses control of the situation, doesn’t he find himself in real danger?

Zimmerman said he used deadly force in self-defense after Martin punched him knocked him to the ground and slammed his head against a sidewalk.

Zimmerman now finds himself in a no-win situation. Even if he is found not guilty, which is highly unlikely, he will forever be looking over his shoulder.

House Dems - Will Attempt to Overturn Stand Your Ground Law

Washington Times -- House Democrats said Tuesday they will offer an amendment to push to overturn stand-your-ground self-defense laws in states like Florida.

The amendment, which would withhold some grants from states that have such laws, will come as part of the House's debate on the Commerce Department spending bill.

"'Shoot-first' laws have already cost too many lives. In Florida alone, deaths due to self-defense have tripled since the law was enacted. Federal money shouldn't be spent supporting states with laws that endanger their own people," said Reps. Raul Grijalva of Arizona and Keith Ellison of Minnesota, the two Democrats who are offering the legislation. "This is no different than withholding transportation funds from states that don't enforce seat-belt laws."

Florida's law, which allows residents to use force in response to an attack without first having to retreat, has come under scrutiny after the nationally-polarizing death of teenager Trayvon Martin. George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch volunteer, has been charged with murder in the case.

I do not believe this legislation is going anywhere. The Democrats do not have a majority in the House and gun rights/self defense issues are almost as popular with many Democrat voters as they are with Republican voters. The House members of both parties know this. People are still going to defend themselves regardless of the outcome.

Orlando Fla. (AP) -- Special prosecutor Angela Corey said Monday she will not take the Trayvon Martin shooting death before a grand jury.

Corey said she continues to investigate the case and will not involve a grand jury that had been set to meet Tuesday in Sanford, Fla.

Corey said her decision to skip the grand jury shouldn’t be considered a factor in determining whether charges will be filed against George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch volunteer who has admitted to fatally shooting the unarmed Martin.

The announcement means the decision on charges now rests solely with Corey, who had a reputation for not presenting cases before grand juries if it wasn’t required. Under Florida law, only first-degree murder cases require the use of grand juries.

Corey took over the case last month after the prosecutor who normally handles cases out of Sanford recused himself. That prosecutor, Norm Wolfinger, had originally called for the case to be presented before a grand jury.

“It’s important that people be put in a position where their Second Amendment rights are protected, but that they also don’t, as a consequence of the laws, unintendedly put themselves in harm’s way,” he said Sunday.

Biden, who once served as the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, said he does not believe that citizens carrying concealed weapons keeps them safer from criminals.

“The idea that there’s this overwhelming additional security in the ownership and carrying concealed and deadly weapons…I think it’s the premise, not the constitutional right, but the premise that it makes people safer is one that I’m not so sure of,” he said.

“We all supported an investigation that is taking place,” Pelosi said at her Thursday news conference when asked if Congress should hold hearings on the case. “I think that’s an issue in the justice system, and if that doesn’t seem to be working then consider some other options, but I’m pleased that the investigation is going forward.”

Martin, a Florida teenager who was fatally shot by neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman on Feb. 26, has become a rallying for activists who allege that the shooting was racially motivated.

Florida police did not charge Zimmerman with a crime in the shooting, which Zimmerman claimed was in self-defense.

Blog author's comments - Apparently Nancy Pelosi has ruled out the presumption of innocence. What is she suggesting? All the liberal hype needs to be ignored. If the left, the MSM and other groups continue to push this case in the direction they are going, there may be more blood shed.

This is not a Presidential matter or an issue for Congress. This is a local, county matter. The local police investigate the evidence and known facts, if there is sufficient evidence then arrest the man and go to trial. If they concur he is innocent of a crime he is a free man.

Sharpton and Jackson Doing Their Jobs

Jackson of 'exploiting' Trayvon Martin
Daily Caller -- Former NAACP leader C.L. Bryant is accusing Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton of “exploiting” the Trayvon Martin tragedy to “racially divide this country.”

“His family should be outraged at the fact that they’re using this child as the bait to inflame racial passions,” Rev. C.L. Bryant said in a Monday interview with The Daily Caller.

The conservative black pastor who was once the chapter president of the Garland, Texas NAACP called Jackson and Sharpton “race hustlers” and said they are “acting as though they are buzzards circling the carcass of this young boy.”

Jackson, for example, recently said Martin’s death shows how
“blacks are under attack” and “targeting, arresting, convicting blacks and ultimately killing us is big business.”

George Zimmerman, a neighborhood watch captain, killed Martin, a 17-year-old black man who was unarmed at the time of his death, last month. Zimmerman has claimed to have shot Martin in self-defense and has not been charged with a crime.

But Bryant, who explores the topic of black-on-black crime in his new film “Runaway Slave,” said people like Jackson and Sharpton are being misleading to suggest there is an epidemic of “white men killing black young men.”

“The epidemic is truly black on black crime,” Bryant said. “The greatest danger to the lives of young black men are young black men.”

Bryant said he wishes civil rights leaders were protesting those problems.

Blog author's comments - What else should we expect from Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton? They are professional race baiters. They don't know what actually happened but, they will fan the flames of racism just as they have in many other cases.

All that is actually known at this time is there was some sort of confrontation between Zimmerman and Martin and Martin is dead. Trayvon Martin is being portrayed as an innocent young man who was stalked by George Zimmerman and shot.

Other witnesses have said Martin had Zimmerman on the ground punching him. At this time Zimmerman has not been charged. But he is assumed guilty by many.

Jackson, Sharpton and many in the MSM will continue to exploit this story. It's time to tone it down and let the police in Sanford, Florida do their job and determine what actually happened.
