The Usual Angry Senate Republicans Demand
Tillerson Spend More Money In State Department

TLR -- Senator John McCain joins Senator Bob Corker demanding that Secretary of State Rex Tillerson spend more money or face being hauled up to congress for Senate investigative hearings on his excessive streamlining and productivity efforts.

According to their arguments, Secretary Tillerson has the audacity to think he is allowed to run the state department. Exactly who does he think he is?

If he doesn’t start spending more money, the Republicans in the Senate might just impeach him.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -- Two senior U.S. senators asked Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Wednesday to explain “questionable management practices” at his department that they believe are weakening the country’s diplomatic power, adding to a chorus of concern in Congress.

Republican Senator John McCain and Democratic Senator Jeanne Shaheen delivered a letter to Tillerson asking him to begin consulting with lawmakers on decisions that have an impact on recruiting, retaining and staffing the State Department, removing a hiring freeze and resuming promotions.
Blog Author's Comments: Senator 'lame duck' Bob Corker says he won't support tax reform because it will add to the budget deficit, yet he is upset that the State Department wants to cut spending, I am glad he will not be back in office after the 2018 elections. And John McCain who will not be returning to the Senate after this term is over, is using his existing time to attack anyone and anything that has any ties to or agrees with President Trump. We have these professional politicians lecturing Rex Tillerson who ran Exxon Mobil for many years, on how he should run the State Department. From what I have seen, he is doing an excellent job as the Secretary of State. I would prefer, and I am sure Trump would concur, he would like for his other cabinet positions to function as well.

I have little doubt that if over 30 percent or more of the government employees were out on the streets tomorrow, we would see a better functioning government. President Trump should have had the people he appointed to cabinet posts, reduce the size of their departments within the first three months in office. This would have, without a doubt, removed many of the 'leakers'.

(If Sec. Tillerson would send a message to those upset with his performance) Secretary Tillerson to Sen McCain, Corker, et al: “What experience or expertise do you possess that qualifies you to question the way I run my department?” There would be total silence and Tillerson would not hear from them again. And what could these fools possibly impeach Tillerson for, performing his job and running his department too efficiently?

Gingrich: There Are Better Choices Than Romney For Secretary Of State

American Lookout -- Newt Gingrich, former Speaker of the House, is a bit surprised that Mitt Romney is being considered for secretary of state in the Trump Administration.

“I can think of 20 other people who would be more naturally compatible with the Trump vision of foreign policy,” Gingrich told Fox News’ “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Trump’s decision has not come without any conflict. The choice for the secretary of state position has been delayed by an internal struggle between the supporters of Romney, and those suggesting the former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

Some are suggesting the President-elect should keep searching for other candidates.

Here is what Gingrich had to say on Fox News:

Blog Author's Comments -- President-Elect Donald Trump should do what he can to stay away from those who have been hostile to him, and I do not believe that he can trust Mitt Romney. Also, I don't think Romney is tough enough for the task and as Newt Gingrich mentioned there are many other people who would be much more capable of doing the job of Secretary of State.

My first choice was John Bolton but Rudy Giuliani would also be very good in this very important position. I would also be fine with Trump offering the job to Newt Gingrich, though I doubt he would accept it. I just cannot imagine Romney anywhere in Trump's administration. Gingrich is correct when he expressed that Romney will not genuinely represent the best interests of President Trump, thus the best interests of the United States.
