Major Newspaper Pulls Cartoon Critical Of Obama's Executive
Action On Immigration Because Of Claims Cartoon Was 'Racist'


The Blaze -- After the Indianapolis Star published a political cartoon on Friday that was decidedly against President Barack Obama’s executive action on immigration reform, the paper’s executive editor Jeff Taylor said many readers were offended and called it “racist.”

So on Saturday the Star pulled the political cartoon by Gary Varvel. Taylor said Varvel “did not intend to be racially insensitive in his attempt to express his strong views” about the issue but added that ”we erred in publishing it.”

The cartoon depicted an immigrant family climbing through a window of a white family’s home as Thanksgiving dinner was served. I was uncomfortable with the depiction when I saw it after it was posted. We initially decided to leave the cartoon posted to allow readers to comment and because material can never truly be eliminated once it is circulating on the web. But we are removing the cartoon from the opinion section of our website, as well as an earlier version posted on Facebook that showed one character with a mustache.

The second version of the cartoon showed the character without a mustache, but every other element appeared the same as the first version.

“This action is not a comment on the issue of illegal immigration or a statement about Gary’s right to express his opinions strongly,” Taylor continued. “We encourage and support diverse opinion.[...]

Cartoons are seldom intended to be read literally. And Gary did not intend this one to be viewed that way. He intended to illustrate the view of many conservatives and others that the president’s order will encourage more people to pour into the country illegally.

The illegal immigration issue evokes strong opinions and emotions. And it’s important to encourage a vigorous public debate on issues of this magnitude, but with respectful discourse. That is what we believe at IndyStar and that is what we will continue to do – to publish views from all sides as we explore the important issues that will define the future of our nation, state and city.

Blog author's comments - The cartoon was accurate and timely. It expresses the opinion of a great many people but because it doesn't genuflect at the altar of holy diversity the weak executive editor Jeff Taylor does not want to upset anyone. The truth is inherently racist, if you're a progressive. You must inoculate the public from it by shutting down any criticism. I just wonder how many complaints the paper had. We have to stop this recent culture of people telling us they're offended and expecting us to give a damn.

If the progressives maintain their control of the media, academia and government, this country will go down the drain only slightly behind the UK. What Obama has created is millions more people living off the working legal citizens. Obama does not care if he has done damage to the country, he has helped the Democratic Party with a continuous supply of Democrat voters as soon as the illegals are given citizenship and that will happen.

What about the majority of readers of that newspaper who were offended by the pulling of the cartoon? I guess they don't count these days. The cartoonist Varvel hit the nail squarely on the head with his cartoon. As more illegals flood across our borders the crime rate will increase because of the lawless Obama's executive order. And the borders will remain open allowing many more illegals to come in. Within the not to distant future the Republican Party will never elect a president. This is the goal of Obama the Democrats and all liberals.

Obama Vows More Executive Action


The Hill -- President Obama vowed Tuesday to use the power of his office where necessary to advance an aggressive 2014 policy agenda.

Heading into a Cabinet meeting, Obama expressed optimism that Congress would take action on numerous major pieces of legislation, including a trillion-dollar 2014 spending bill unveiled late Monday, immigration reform and a measure to extend unemployment benefits.

The president, however, also pledged that, “we are not just going to be waiting for a legislation in order to make sure that we’re providing Americans the kind of help that they need.”

“I’ve got a pen and I’ve got a phone, and I can use that pen to sign executive orders and take executive actions and administrative actions that move the ball forward,” he said.

Obama broadly listed education, support for businesses, and job training as areas in which executive action might be needed, though he did not elaborate on the specifics of any proposals.

Blog author's comments - Obama is again showing his arrogance by saying he can write executive orders to do what he wants and does not need Congress. He has been the president and running the country for the past five years and his plan to transform America, his policies and agenda are the reasons the economy is in the shape that it is. This is why 92 million people are out of the workforce, and why 47 million people require food stamps.

Obama cannot govern without having both the Senate and the House, because he refuses to work with the Republicans in the House. He has his agenda for the next three years and apparently feels he can accomplish whatever he wants with executive action. It is my hope that what 'Obamacare' alone has done and will do, has awakened enough of the voters including the low-information people, so that Obama will not have the House or the Senate by the end of this year.

Obama To Use 'Executive Action' - Bypass Congress


Obama says he'll be taking 'executive actions' without
Congress on 'regular basis' to 'heal the economy'

Daily Caller - President Barack Obama told an audience in Nevada on Monday that he will be regularly announcing “executive actions” his administration will take to “heal the economy” without the
“dysfunctional” Congress.

“I’m here to say to all of you and to say to the people of Nevada and the people of Las Vegas, we can’t wait for an increasingly dysfunctional Congress to do its job. Where they won’t act, I will,” Obama said.

“I’ve told my administration to keep looking every single day for actions we can take without Congress, steps that can save consumers money, make government more efficient and responsive, and help heal the economy. And we’re going to be announcing these executive actions on a regular basis,” the president said
.

Blog author's comments - If a Republican President said exactly the same thing, the media and the usual liberals we hear from would be hysterical. But since it’s the 'constitutional scholar' it's okay with them.

I do hope that many more of our citizens are beginning to realize what Obama is and what he wants to do to America. He must be removed from office in 2012.

No U.S. President has ever gotten the free ride from the MSM this President has. Oh yes, it’s all the fault of Congress. The fact that we have an incompetent man in the White House has nothing to do with the problems the country now faces.

All that has transpired since he announced his plan for the 'American Jobs Act' is a tactic which he hopes will get him re-elected. Obama cares about one job...his own.
