Blog author's comments - Obama keeps talking about a default if an agreement is not reached soon and he does not get everything he wants concerning the government shutdown. I also hear about a default from lawmakers on both sides of the isle and the mainstream media. This is not true. There is no way that we will default on paying our bills unless Obama refuses to pay them. We have roughly $200 to $225 billion of tax revenue coming into the government every month. The service on the debt every month is about $18 billion. We have the money so there should not be a default.
