For The American People To Stop ObamaCare

Blog author's comments - Obama is beginning his campaign to win back the House in 2014, this is why he wants a government shutdown. He knows the liberal media will put the blame on the GOP. This also takes the voters away, those who are aware of them, from the numerous scandals within the Obama Administration. Should Obamacare be defunded? Absolutely, it is an economic disaster and will be a medical disaster. But even if the House and Senate came to some sort of agreement, which will not happen, Obama would veto it. The ACA is now the law.

This is why I don't think the Republican Party should attempt to stop the individual mandate for only a year...until 2015. Let the low-information voters and, those who are still not aware that the ACA is law, deal with it and see what a bad bill this is. The Republican Party should be planning their strategy with their ultimate goal being to retain the House in 2014. The bills from the House should also have included a removal of the Congress exemption from Obamacare that Obama gave them. If he feels the ACA is a good bill for the people, why shouldn't Congress and their staffs live with the same health insurance bill?

Issa Feared Targeted By Terrorists After Democrats Revealed Libya Trip

Daily Caller -- A leaked State Department email indicates that officials were worried about the safety of House Oversight Committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa after Democrats revealed his plans for a secret trip to Libya this week.

Issa, a Republican from California, has safely returned from his fact-finding trip to the country as his committee continues to investigate the terrorist attacks that killed America’s ambassador and three others in Benghazi on Sept. 11, 2012.

CBS News reported Thursday on an email that quoted a Libyan national sharing “his concern and his opinion that Representative Issa should not come to Libya for his own safety.”

The email reports that the Libyan thinks, “the people who would harm Rep. Issa are the same people who conducted the Benghazi attacks.”

Before Issa’s trip, Rep. Elijah Cummings, the ranking member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, issued a press release asking Issa to postpone his trip until he allows Democrats to join him.

“Although you claim that your investigation of the Benghazi attacks is bipartisan, your efforts to secretly plan an official trip to Libya — and then deliberately exclude Democrats from joining — is part of an unfortunate pattern of partisanship that undermines the credibility of this investigation,” Cummings wrote. “The problem with these actions is that they effectively deny Democratic Members the ability to effectively investigate this incident.”

Issa’s office responded on Thursday by lamenting the situation.

“Ranking Member Elijah Cummings’ reckless release of information was not going to deter Chairman Issa from conducting his oversight responsibilities in the wake of the Benghazi tragedy,” Issa spokesman Frederick Hill told The Daily Caller. “Fortunately, despite the media attention and resulting threat, no security incident occurred during Rep. Issa’s time in Libya.”
Blog author's comments - So, Elijah Cummings knowingly released information that may have put a fellow American in danger...because of partisanship? The GOP cannot compromise with people who would do this. He mentions 'Democratic members' wanting to investigate the Benghazi attack. What have they been doing during the past year? The Democrats have already swept Benghazi under the rug just as they did 'Fast and Furious'. They did not want Issa to find anything which could prove that the Obama administration is covering up what happened in Libya.

This may have been a warning to any Republican Congressman that to scrutinize and challenge Obama will not be tolerated. You may recall that after the attack President Obama promised to bring those responsible to justice. So far, no one has been captured, killed or brought to anything even vaguely resembling justice. Benghazi happened over a year ago and you get the impression the president would be happy if no one ever brought the subject up again. The liberal media will certainly not devote any more time to Benghazi and what happened there.

Poll: 63% of Americans Want Government To Have Less Power And Money

Rasmussen Reports -- Most Americans continue to believe politicians want more power and money for the government while their fellow citizens want the opposite. Sixty-three percent (63%) of Adults nationwide believe most Americans want the government to have less power and money, according to a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey. Just 18% believe their fellow Americans want the government to have more power and money. Nine percent (9%) think they want things to remain about the same.
Blog Author's Comments - But Barack Obama wants the government to have more power and money. No doubt there are many who are part of the 63% who voted for Obama and his fellow Democrats in 2008 and 2012 and now they don't like what has happened.

They have one more chance - the midterm elections of 2014. Will the voters be stupid again? If so and the GOP does not hold the House and pick up some Senate seats our country will never recover from the damage that Obama and the Democrats will do during his final two years as president.

But, if the Republican Party manages to hold the House, will they use what power they have to do what they can to attempt to curtail what he will try to do? If the' old guard' of the GOP won't do what they were elected to do, what's the point of winning?

Pelosi On Defunding ACA: 'One Of The Most Intentional Acts Of Brutality'

CNS News -- In a speech from the House floor on Friday, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) accused House Republicans of committing an act of “brutality” in pushing through a continuing resolution (CR) that will fund the rest of the federal government after Sept. 30 but will defund Obamacare.

“Either you don’t know what you are doing or this is one of the most intentional acts of brutality that you have cooked up with stiff competition for that honor. It cuts billions of dollars again I say, from the National Institutes of Health, delaying important research and denying medical breakthroughs for future generations,” Pelosi said speaking on the House floor.

Shortly after Pelosi spoke, the House voted 230 to 189 to approve the CR that defunds Obamacare. Because the current legislation funding the federal government expires on Sept. 30 (the last day of the federal fiscal year), Congress must enact a new law to allow the administration to spend money after that date. Article 1, Section 9, Clause 7 of the Constitution says: "No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law." For a bill authorizing spending from the Treasury to become law, it must be approved by the House of Representatives, and the Senate, and signed by the president.

The CR approved by the Republican-controlled House today would authorize the administration to spend money on virtually all existing government programs--except Obamacare. Conservatives have called on Republicans in the House to pass such a CR as a way to stop the full implementation Obamacare, which otherwise will take place on January 1.

In addition to calling this CR an act of "brutality," Pelosi also called it “a wolf in wolf’s clothing.”

“It is a wolf in wolf’s clothing. The underlying bill to shut down government--the CR--is reason enough to object to it, because that bill will cost at least a million jobs in the course of next year, will cost a million jobs,” she said.
Blog author's comments - Nancy Pelosi's use of the word 'brutality' was a bit over dramatic. But her best line was "a wolf in wolf’s clothing", from the great wordsmith of the House. Nancy, it is a "wolf in sheep's clothing", which describes what the 'Affordable Care Act' is. The consensus being there isn't anything affordable about it, it is a financial 'train wreck.' Many of the semi-literate citizens who bought the lie of the ACA when it was first proposed no longer feel it will be of benefit to them. Obama's plan when he took office was to grow the government and that is what he has been successful in doing.

In reality the defunding of the 'Affordable Care Act' will not stop it. It is sadly the law as the SCOTUS ruled...with the help of Chief Justice John Roberts, and it will remain the law for now and wreak the greatest health care system ever. Pelosi used the word 'brutality' when describing the House Republicans voting to defund Obamacare. This word could well describe the way Obama has governed since he has been in office. If Pelosi is so supportive of Obamacare then she and her fellow Democrats should request the same healthcare plan.

What concerns me is that in recent polls I have seen...the majority of the people who see what the ACA will do are against it. But if there is a government shutdown, Obama and the liberal media will paint the Republican Party as uncaring and evil which could possibly have a large effect on the outcome of the 2014 election. It will be a disaster if the Democratic Party regains control of the House for the last two years of Obama's term.

McCain Rejects Report Claiming Syrian Rebels Are Largely Jihadis

Daily Caller -- Arizona Republican Sen. John McCain hotly disputed a study claiming that at least half of Syria’s rebels are radical jihadis, repeatedly exclaiming “Not true, not true!”

“Frankly, I just disagree,” McCain told the Council on Foreign Relations audience, challenging the contention by defense consultancy IHS Jane’s that “the insurgency is now dominated by groups with at least an Islamist viewpoint of the conflict.”

“There’s about 70 percent still who are Free Syrian Army,” McCain said, flipping on its head the consulting firm’s research showing that just 30 percent are fighting for secular values.

McCain has frequently called for an increase in arms shipments to rebels groups fighting the Assad regime, and on Tuesday evening he sought to diminish concerns that these arms may one day be turned against the United States or its allies.

“The point, I think, that you and others are missing,” he told the questioner, “[is that] Syria is a moderate nation. Syria has the highest literacy rate of any nation in the Middle East. They are not going to submit to a jihadis or al-Qaida group governing them. They will not.”

“That’s a really a convenient cop-out to say, ‘Oh, we don’t know who they are,’” he continued angrily. “I know who they are. I was in Syria and I met them.”[...]

McCain also dismissed the Obama administration’s line that negotiations between the United States, Syria and Russia to destroy Syria’s chemical weapons stockpiles represented a turning point in the conflict.

Entire column...
Blog author's comments - I don't believe that Senator John McCain is correct about the Syrian rebel forces. Approximately half of Syrian rebel fighters are jihadists or hard line Islamists, according to a new report by London intelligence and defense consultancy IHS Jane’s. IHS Jane’s is the renowned global open-source intelligence provider to militaries, governments, intelligence agencies and industry. McCain has an ego problem that is epidemic among many politicians in this country. The President really suffers from it the most. They will never admit they could be wrong.

McCain is the same Senator who said that rebels shouting, during battle 'Allahu Akbar' is the same as American troops shouting 'Thank God.' Yes he actually said that two weeks ago. John McCain would like to remove Assad from Syria and I would guess so does Obama, but they would be challenging Putin of Russia which I don't think Obama would ever attempt to do.

McCain is hopefully going to retire after his current term in the Senate is over and he may be attempting to leave a legacy of some sort with his involvement in the Syrian conflict and other issues. What I could never understand is how the voters in Arizona keep reelecting him to his Senate seat. McCain did go to Syria and he supposedly met with a few rebels so that makes him an expert and someone we can trust to know what he is talking about? I don't think so.

Obama Says He Will Not Negotiate With Congress On Debt Ceiling

Reuters -- President Barack Obama warned Republicans in Congress on Monday that he will not negotiate over an extension of the U.S. debt ceiling as part of a budget battle that will soon dominate Washington, with a deadline fast approaching.

Pivoting to domestic policy after devoting weeks to the crisis in Syria, Obama scolded his political opponents for threatening a government shutdown and attempting to attach conditions to funding the budget for the 2014 fiscal year that begins October 1.

"Let's stop the threats. Let's stop the political posturing, let's keep our government open. Let's pay our bills on time. Let's pass a budget," Obama said.

In a speech marking five years since the financial crisis that sent Wall Street teetering to the brink of collapse, Obama said much progress had been made in rebuilding the U.S. economy but much more remains to be done.

He faces yet another budget showdown as Republicans in Congress attempt to force more spending cuts and remove funding for Obama's signature achievement, the 2010 healthcare law that is facing a rocky rollout.

Entire column...
Blog author's comments - Obama will not stop his out of control spending. 'Obama warned Republicans in Congress on Monday that he will not negotiate over an extension of the U.S. debt ceiling.' I believe that most members of the Republican Party are afraid of a government shutdown and they will give him what he wants as usual.

Obama said 'much progress had been made in rebuilding the U.S. economy.' What progress? He can make this statement but not list the progress because under this president there hasn't been any progress. But many Americans continue to believe him after what he has done to the country for almost five years. He is willing to talk to Assad of Syria, to the Iranians, and to Putin of Russia but he will not negotiate with the Republican Party concerning government spending and debt.

NFL Commissioner: 'If One Person Is Offended, We Have To Listen'

Breitbart -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell softened his stance on the Redskins name on Wednesday when he said that the NFL had to listen to concerns about the team's nickname even if only one person is concerned about it.

In an interview on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, Goodell, who grew up in the region as a Baltimore Colts and then Redskins fan, said, "I think what we have to do though is we have to listen."

“If one person is offended, we have to listen," he said.

Goodell's remarks come after Sports Illustrated's Peter King's website decided to refer to the team as the Washington football team. Earlier in the year, in response to 10 members of Congress who wrote him demanding action, Goodell defended the name. Redskins owner Dan Snyder has said he will "NEVER" change the team name and does not intend to sell the franchise.

"Ultimately it is Dan’s decision,” Goodell said of a possible name change. “But it’s something that I want all of us to go out and make sure we’re listening to our fans, listening to people of a different view, and making sure that we continue to do what’s right to make sure that team represents the strong tradition and history that it has for so many years."

ProFootballTalk believes Goodell's softer stance on the issue leaves "the door open for action if/when the opposition to the name reaches national critical mass. He senses that the day is coming; the only question is whether it happens before or after he retires from the job he already has held for seven years."
Blog author's comments - The Commissioner Goodell certainly has changed the game in less than five years, I believe for the worse. In this case he should leave the Redskins owner, name and logo alone. Goodell must be a least this is how he seems to function in his position as the head of the NFL. “If one person is offended, we have to listen," No we don't!

The Redskins name has existed since 1932 and all of a sudden, it's offensive? Why does the government have to get involved? Don't the 10 members of Congress who wrote the letter to him have anything better to do to earn their salaries and occupy their time? Does Goodell know of one single Native American who is offended? If we removed everything that offends anyone, there would be nothing left. Liberals offend me because I would have to guess this is who is pushing for the name change.

White House Admits It Has No Allies For Syria Attack

Jihad Watch -- Confirmation from the White House itself that John Kerry was lying when he said that the number of countries supporting the U.S. had reached "double digits." "White House Admits It’s a Coalition of One," by Patrick Brennan at National Review. September 8:

When asked this morning if the U.S. has any pledges of military support for strikes in Syria, White House chief of staff Denis McDonough emphasized that the G20 and other nations have made supportive condemnations of the Syrian government’s actions, but repeatedly pressed by CNN’s Candy Crowley, provided no examples of countries that have endorsed or will provide personnel or equipment for a military intervention.

He wouldn’t explicitly admit that the U.S. actually has no allies willing to provide support, saying, “you’re trying to get me to say that, but I’m not going to say it.” There is specific support from the EU and others, he said, for “holding Syria accountable.”

McDonough argued it was encouraging that a number of other countries — and even a former president of Iran — have come around and agreed that the U.S. has made a convincing case that the Syrian regime used chemical weapons in August.

Blog author's comments - It appears that Obama and his administration are at present alone with their plan to attack Syria. We will see what happens when the full Congress votes. I have never been able to believe John Kerry, particularly since his lies about his military service record in Vietnam were exposed. The amazing thing now is that Obama is trotting out another proven liar Susan Rice to make his case for an assault on Syria. Most of us should remember what she had to say on all the Sunday news shows, concerning the Obama administration's version of what happened in Libya with the Benghazi attack on the American embassy.

Obama had to draw "the red line in the (Syrian) sand." He is now attempting to back away from his statement. When the votes in Congress are tallied to attack or not in Syria I think Reid may deliver the votes from the Senate. In the House John Boehner is supportive of Obama. But it remains to be seen if the Conservative Republicans in the House will give Obama their okay for an offensive action. If not, will Obama defy Congress and the will of the American people and go ahead with the attack? He wants the majority of Congress to give him their he can spread the blame if things go badly.

If Congress does not give Obama their backing, in particular the Republicans, he will attempt to use this against the GOP during his campaign for the midterm election of 2014. He desperately wants to regain control of the House for his final two years in office. But if he blames the GOP it may not work in his favor. The polls of the American people show that most Americans do not want the U.S. involved in Syria.

Joe Biden Wants Janet Napolitano on SCOTUS

Politico -- Vice President Joe Biden has plans for the next career move of outgoing Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, saying he’d like to see her on the nation’s highest court.

“I think Janet should be in the Supreme Court of the United States,” he said Friday morning at her farewell ceremony, according to video from CSPAN.

The room burst into loud applause, with a crowd that included Attorney General Eric Holder and other Cabinet members, past and present.

But Napolitano is headed west instead, where she will take over as the president of the University of California system, the first woman to take the helm. She announced she was stepping down in July.

Biden gave a laudatory speech on Napolitano’s last day, and Holder also gave introductory remarks. Singing Napolitano’s praises, Biden thanked her for “getting us through a pretty rough patch” and said California “should be incredibly grateful. They have no idea what’s coming.”

“It’s not hyperbole: The nation’s safer for your service,” Biden said. “You made it look easy. I kind of feel badly for your successor.”

The White House has not named a replacement for Napolitano.

The former governor of Arizona has practiced law and clerked for an appellate judge, though she has never served as a judge.

She was an original member of President Barack Obama’s Cabinet.
Blog author's comments - One has to consider the source, this came from the mouth and brain of Biden. Napolitano as a Supreme Court Justice...if I thought there was a real chance of that happening I would surely have nightmares.

Another member of Obama's administration who would be even more frightening would be Attorney General Eric Holder. I have seen his name mentioned for the high court more than once. Elections do have consequences.

Hopefully in the remaining three plus years Obama is in office he will not have the chance to appoint another member of the SCOTUS. But, I do feel that before Obama's term is over Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg will retire. If that occurs at least three of the liberal Justices would be young and could be on the high court for 25 to 30 years...not good.

US General Says Syria Action Could Be 'More Substantial Than Thought'

The Telegraph -- A former US army chief has claimed that Barack Obama is eyeing intervention in Syria that would go beyond a mere deterrent against chemical weapons to damage the military capacity of the Assad regime.

General Jack Keane, a former vice chief of staff of the US Army, told BBC Radio 4 that he had spoken to senior Republican senators who had been briefed by the US president on Monday, and had been assured that Mr. Obama planned to do significant damage to the forces of Bashar al-Assad.

The Obama administration has previously said that military strikes would not be aimed at toppling Assad's government nor altering the balance of the conflict. Instead, the White House has suggested, they would be intended to punish Assad for the alleged gas attack in Damascus on Aug 21 and to reinstate Washington's "red line" against the use of chemical weapons.

But Gen. Keane said he understood Mr. Obama was planning a more substantial intervention in Syria than had previously been thought, with increased support for the opposition forces, including training from US troops.

He said the plans could involve "much more substance than we were led to believe".

Entire column...
Blog author's comments - According to a Pew Poll…Americans oppose attacking Syria by a huge 48% to 29% margin. But, if the Republicans don't give Obama authorization, don't vote for the use of force, he can then not do anything about Syria and blame the Republicans for being heartless and willing to let chemical weapons be used against the Syrian people. And if the Republicans grant him the use of force and he uses it, then the liberal media will report that he's a leader, a unifier.

It will be interesting to see how the final vote in Congress turns out. And if Congress votes no, will Obama order an attack against Syria on his own? Do we know without a doubt that Assad is responsible for gassing the rebels and some of his people? Could the rebels have been the ones who used nerve gas?

Obama would like to remove Assad but if he did he would be turning Syria over to the jihadist rebels and the Muslim Brotherhood. I have already touched on… via another post… how bad this turned out in Egypt and Libya when Obama pushed to rid those countries of their dictators.

Does Obama think Syria is just going to sit back and not retaliate if the U.S. attacks them? He must believe Russia will not do anything. Is he confident Iran isn't going to bomb Israel? How about here in the United States...Obama has no worry about revenge attacks on our homeland? I have said it before...we should stay out of Syria, this is not our fight.
