Feinstein: "All the Police and All the Mayors" Support My Gun Ban

National Review Online -- California senator Dianne Feinstein claimed yesterday on MSNBC that there is widespread support for her assault-weapons ban, so much support that supposedly the entire law-enforcement community is in favor of her legislation. “I think we’ve got all the police,” she told host Andrea Mitchell, “we have all the mayors virtually.” She added that several religious groups, along with “lists and lists” of others, are also backing her bill.

As reported last month, though, a large number of sheriffs across the country have voiced their opposition to the senator’s proposed ban. One California sheriff wrote Feinstein that he would “not turn law-abiding citizens into criminals by enforcing useless gun control legislation”; another California sheriff wrote, “Our founding fathers got it right and many politicians are getting it wrong.”

Nonetheless, Feinstein emphasized that she was going to continue to fight for her legislation, particularly against the “volatile” NRA. The Senate Judiciary Committee may vote on her ban as soon as tomorrow, along with other gun-control measures from her Democratic colleagues.

Blog author's comments - Feinstein has been trying to ban guns for many years. This is the same underhanded strategy the Democrats use on all their power grabs. Everyone's on board, let's get this done. They really are in a fight to get to the finish line on this. This is why she is compelled to tell such a desperate lie. If her bill makes it through the Senate hopefully it will not pass in the GOP controlled House.

Jackson Graft Case Further Indicts Black Caucus

Investors Business Daily -- Corruption: Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s guilty plea to fraud charges raises fresh questions about the Congressional Black Caucus. It's a group with many laudable goals, but why do so many in it succumb to corruption?

A disproportionate share of ethics cases have been brought against this exclusive club.

According to a 2012 National Journal study, five of the six lawmakers under review by the House Ethics Committee were Black Caucus members. Yet just one in 10 House members belong to the group.

It's a familiar pattern.

In 2009, all eight lawmakers under ethics investigation were African-American. Besides Jackson, they included Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y., who was later convicted of accepting gifts from donors with business before his tax-writing panel and 11 other ethics violations.

All told, the Journal says, an astonishing one-third of sitting black lawmakers have been named in an ethics probe at some point in their Hill careers.

The stat does not include former lawmakers now doing time in prison, such as ex-Rep. William Jefferson, D-La. FBI agents last decade caught Jefferson red-handed with $90,000 of bribery cash stashed in his office freezer.

The Black Caucus was founded 40 years ago by civil-rights leaders as "the conscience of the Congress." Members swore to help "disadvantaged African-Americans." Today, members of the group seem more likely to be in trouble for lining their pockets than solving the very serious problems of their constituencies.

Jackson is just the latest member of the group to get in trouble, according to the Justice Department. Prosecutors last week indicted him for "enriching" himself in a criminal scheme to defraud campaign donors by misusing their funds for his own "personal benefit." He pled guilty on Wednesday.

He admitted to spending at least $750,000 of public funds on personal items, including a $43,350 gold Rolex, $5,150 worth of mink capes and parkas from Beverly Hills, a $4,600 Michael Jackson fedora and $2,200 worth of Malcolm X memorabilia.

He was also accused of falsifying federal campaign finance-disclosure reports to conceal the embezzlement.

Jackson, who faces 46 to 57 months in jail under a plea agreement, won't be sentenced until June 28. His wife, Sandi, who also recently resigned from public office, has pleaded guilty to separate tax fraud charges.

Jackson in a statement said he made some "errors in judgment," adding that we all make "mistakes."

But this wasn't some sudden ethical lapse. The indictment says Jackson engaged in at least a seven-year conspiracy to defraud the public. And it may even predate 2005.
Blog author's comments - Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.'s guilty plea is the latest in ethics problems by a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. I will not pass judgment on the troubles other members of the Black Caucus may have but, I do believe Rep. Charlie Rangel a member of the Congressional Black Caucus should have been removed from office for being found guilty of 11 ethics charges. Instead, he received a slap on the wrist and was reelected.

Also, I cannot see what the Congressional Black Caucus members do for the black community besides make many of them more dependent on the government. They never tell them it's time to take responsibility for their own life and family.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, former chairman of the CBC, admitted that African-American members of Congress hold Obama to a lower standard because the President is black. Pointing to the historic level of African-American unemployment, Cleaver said, “If we had a white president we’d be marching around the White House.”

Herman Cain, Dr. Ben Carson, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, Dr. Thomas Sowell and Walter Williams...just to name a few...are all respected black men, but unfortunately are only respected by Independents and Republicans. Many members of the black community do not know who these men are and what they have accomplished.

York Arms Cancels All Its New York Police Orders

AmmoLand -- (Buxton, ME) Based on the recent legislation in New York, we are prohibited from selling rifles and receivers to residents of New York.

We have chosen to extend that prohibition to all governmental agencies associated with or located within New York.

As a result we have halted sales of rifles, short barreled rifles, short barreled shotguns, machine guns, and silencers to New York governmental agencies.

For “civilian” customers residing in New York: At your choice, we will:

--Complete your order and ship to a dealer of your choice outside of NY.

--Refund your payment in full.

--Hold your items here for up to 6 months, at no charge – if you are in the process of leaving NY and taking residence in another state.

For LE/Govt customers in New York: Your orders have been cancelled.

Blog author's comments - York Arms will probably gain some customers by doing this. It will be interesting to see how many other gun manufacturers take the same actions. The governmental agencies can thank Gov. Cuomo and his new gun control bill for this -- I believe the bill infringes on the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of New York.

On another note, I am wondering why Homeland Security is trying to buy up all the ammo in the market. Are they preparing for something or just trying to drive up the prices?

Why Is The Department Of Homeland Security Buying So Many Bullets?

Pelosi To Bring Newtown Student To State Of The Union

Red Alert Politics -- House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) announced Friday that she will bring a fourth-grade girl from Newtown, CT to be her guest at the coming State of the Union Address.

The mother of the fourth-grader will also attend.

This particular child is not a student from Sandy Hook Elementary, but Pelosi chose her because of a letter she wrote asking government officials to "ban semi-automatic weapons"..
Blog author's comments - Will these Democrats ever stop exploiting children for political gain? Nancy Pelosi cannot make an intelligent argument, all she can do is to stage shameless stunts.

Would putting armed guards in schools and ending some "Gun Free Zones" deter atrocities? I think so. However, those are things Pelosi and the Democrats are not interested in doing.

Pelosi is currently pushing 14 gun control measures introduced to the House of Representatives by Democrat lawmakers. She has remarked that Democrats have a " small window of time " to get their legislation through the House.

Remember, this is the woman who yesterday said that she was all for the First Amendment right to bear arms.

Panetta: Barack Obama Absent During Benghazi Attack

The Examiner -- On Thursday, outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Gen. Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, told senators on Capitol Hill that President Obama was not present the night that four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens, were killed in an attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

According to their testimony, the two men met with Obama at 5:00 p.m. on Sept. 11. That meeting lasted 30 minutes, they said. Afterward, they did not hear from anyone at the White House, including the president.

"A Defense Department timeline says that Panetta and Dempsey had been informed of the terrorist attack in Benghazi at 4:32 p.m.--28 minutes before they went into their meeting with Obama. At today's hearing, Panetta said he informed Obama of the attack when they entered their 5:00 p.m. meeting. That was one hour and 18 minutes after the attack started and while it was ongoing," CNS News said.

Panetta told Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-NH) that Obama left operational details "up to us."

"Did you have any further communications with him that night?" Sen. Ayotte asked.

"No," Panetta said.

Blog author's comments - What has been ignored by the mainstream media and made clear in Congressional hearings from President Obama’s Defense Secretary, the president did nothing after attending a half-hour meeting on the deadly terrorist attacks at Benghazi, Libya on the 9/11 anniversary. This is not how leaders conduct themselves with high-ranking diplomats and servicemen in harm’s way.

The president was scheduled to hold the intelligence meeting at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, the day after the attacks, but it was canceled so that he could comfort grieving employees at the State Department. But instead of rescheduling the intelligence briefing for later in the day, Obama apparently chose to skip it altogether and attend a Las Vegas fundraiser for his re-election campaign.

The Gun Is Civilization - By Marko Kloos

Human beings only have two ways to deal with one another: reason and force. If you want me to do something for you, you have a choice of either convincing me via argument, or force me to do your bidding under threat of force. Every human interaction falls into one of those two categories, without exception. Reason or force, that's it. In a truly moral and civilized society, people exclusively interact through persuasion. Force has no place as a valid method of social interaction, and the only thing that removes force from the menu is the personal firearm, as paradoxical as it may sound to some.

When I carry a gun, you cannot deal with me by force. You have to use reason and try to persuade me, because I have a way to negate your threat or employment of force. The gun is the only personal weapon that puts a 100-pound woman on equal footing with a 220-pound mugger, a 75-year old retiree on equal footing with a 19-year old gang banger, and a single guy on equal footing with a carload of drunk guys with baseball bats. The gun removes the disparity in physical strength, size, or numbers between a potential attacker and a defender. .

There are plenty of people who consider the gun as the source of bad force equations. These are the people who think that we'd be more civilized if all guns were removed from society, because a firearm makes it easier for a [armed] mugger to do his job. That, of course, is only true if the mugger's potential victims are mostly disarmed either by choice or by legislative fiat - it has no validity when most of a mugger's potential marks are armed.

People who argue for the banning of arms ask for automatic rule by the young, the strong, and the many, and that's the exact opposite of a civilized society. A mugger, even an armed one, can only make a successful living in a society where the state has granted him a force monopoly.

Then there's the argument that the gun makes confrontations lethal that otherwise would only result in injury. This argument is fallacious in several ways. Without guns involved, confrontations are won by the physically superior party inflicting overwhelming injury on the loser.

People who think that fists, bats, sticks, or stones don't constitute lethal force, watch too much TV, where people take beatings and come out of it with a bloody lip at worst. The fact that the gun makes lethal force easier, works solely in favor of the weaker defender, not the stronger attacker. If both are armed, the field is level. The gun is the only weapon that's as lethal in the hands of an octogenarian as it is in the hands of a weight lifter. It simply would not work as well as a force equalizer if it wasn't both lethal and easily employable.

When I carry a gun, I don't do so because I am looking for a fight, but because I'm looking to be left alone. The gun at my side means that I cannot be forced, only persuaded . I don't carry it because I'm afraid, but because it enables me to be unafraid. It doesn't limit the actions of those who would interact with me through reason, only the actions of those who would do so by force. It removes force from the equation... And that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act!

Biden: New Gun Laws Offer No Guarantees Against Another Mass Shooting

Washington Examiner -- Vice President Joe Biden was perhaps a little too candid on the subject of new gun control laws when talking to reporters Thursday after a meeting with Senate Democrats in the Capitol.

“Nothing we’re going to do is going to fundamentally alter or eliminate the possibility of another mass shooting or guarantee that we will bring gun deaths down to a thousand a year from what we’re at now,” Biden said, according to a Politico report.

The reporter also noted, “a [White House] staffer tried unsuccessfully to cut Biden off repeatedly” as he was making the remarks. But, as we all know, when Joe Biden has something to say, he says it.
Blog author's comments - Joe Biden said what most thinking people already know. They will never stop the criminals from having guns or stop mass shootings. Barack Obama and Dem. Sen. Dianne Feinstein are using a tragedy in an attempt to place more restrictions on our Second Amendment rights.

When a government is obsessed with removing guns from law-abiding citizens and wants to create a national gun registry...this is all about control. I have always known that Obama would eventually try this if he had the chance.

Quote of the Day

”A gun is like a parachute. If you really need one, and
don’t have one, you’ll probably never need one again!”
