Daily Caller -- A public university in Colorado may have violated state law by offering students course credit if they volunteered with President Obama’s re-election campaign. A blog post on the Adams State University website billed the opportunity as a “12 week long organizing internship for the Obama Campaign.”
Both the blog post and the course are now gone. The course was canceled due to lack of interest, according to the university. The blog post was taken down earlier this week after a conservative student blog, Campus Reform, reported on it.
The course may have been in violation of the Colorado Fair Campaign Practices Act , which prohibits the use of public resources toward “campaigns involving the nomination, retention, or election of any person to any public office.” Oliver Darcy, the editor at Campus Reform who first reported the story, said the course struck him as a likely violation of state law.
“They are definitely using a few professors at least to help these students with the campaign process, so I don’t understand how it doesn’t use public resources for campaign purposes,” he said in an interview with The Daily Caller News Foundation.
A spokesperson for the university said the blog post was mistaken about the nature of the course, and that students would have been allowed to volunteer with any campaign.
“This is an independent study course that would be available to any student in any campaign,” said Julie Waechter, a spokesperson for ASU, in an interview with TheDC News Foundation.
Waechter declined to give the name of the employee who authorized the course. Dodie Day, the administrator who posted the blog entry, declined to comment.
According to Waechter, the Obama administration reached out to the university about hosting such an offer.
“The Obama campaign did approach the school. Others campaigns did not,” she said, adding that the school would have considered a similar offer from the Republican campaign of Gov. Mitt Romney.
But Peter Wood, president of the National Association of Scholars and a chronicler of political bias in academia, said universities have no business awarding class credit for political activity at all.
Blog author's comments - This is ridiculous. I do hope the liberal teachers/administrators have to answer for it. Liberal academia strikes again. Obama and his team will stop at nothing to win this election.
It would be interesting to know what the instructors could tell the students concerning anything good Obama has done for America. Don't the students see what the job market is, the state of the economy? What do they have to look forward to if they help Obama win a second term?
Obama has shown us he is not capable of doing the job he was given and is destroying our country. Try to imagine, it should not be that difficult, how America will be in another four years if he is still in the White House.

Politico -- Sarah Palin on Monday said Democrats who “still have that addiction to the hope-ium” President Barack Obama peddled four years ago need to “open their eyes” and vote for Mitt Romney this November.
“Some of us had [Obama] pegged four years ago. Remember when he promised to fundamentally transform America? We knew right then during the campaign that we were in for a world of hurt under Obama’s failed liberal socialist policies that he would really ram down our throats,” Palin told Fox News’s Sean Hannity on Monday night. “So nothing comes as a surprise to me when I hear the tone that President Obama is taking in his campaign.”
Hannity then asked Palin for her thoughts on how Obama can continue to have supporters in 2012 after what they agreed were four failed years in office. “What is this, stubborn Obama-Mania? A stubborn, hypnotic trance?” Hannity asked.
“These people who still have that addiction to the hope-ium that he had promised, that hope-y, change-y stuff that was really bogus four years ago,” Palin said, “well they have about 71 days to open up their eyes and realize the path that he has put us on, a path toward insolvency, a path toward fewer freedoms and, really, orchestrated chaos and bankruptcy.
Blog author's comments - I agree with Sarah Palin. There are still so many Democrats addicted to Barack Obama's "Hope and Change" of 2008. It is difficult for me to understand that they are willing to give him, a failed president, another four years to continue wreaking our country.
Can these people honestly say their lives are better today than four years ago? Do they believe another term for Obama will help them and the economy or are they simply not paying attention?
Obama is a sneaky incompetent. He promises much but has delivered nothing which has helped the country. He is also a serial liar and will say and do anything to stay in power as will his fellow Democrats. They all of course have the backing of the liberal media.
The people who voted for Obama four years ago do need to open their eyes. A second Obama term and agenda will prove devastating to the United States.

Blog author's comments - Mitt Romney's comment certainly did upset the left. The president appears to be a bit thin skinned. The liberals from MSNBC are of course over dramatic even for them. Mitt Romney's comment the "most despicable bigotry we can imagine" also "hipster racism". They need to get over themselves. But, there is absolutely no chance of that happening. Their goal is to protect Obama and help him win a second term.
I am not a 'birther,' but why did Obama take so long to produce a copy of his birth certificate? A president should not be playing games with the American people. I don't believe the liberal media has ever fully vetted Obama and if they have, are keeping a lid on much of what they know about him.
Why doesn't he produce the following documents and information:
His college transcripts.
His Illinois state senate schedule and meeting records.
His client list while serving as an attorney for the firm of Davis, Miner, Barnhill and Gallard.
The video of his speech praising PLO operative Rashid Khalidi at a banquet in 2003, which The Los Angeles Times possesses, but still refuses to release.
His personal records from the Illinois state senate.
His Illinois state bar records and the status of his bar license.
His own and his mother's original passport applications.
Every time Obama and Harry Reid ask for more of Mitt Romney's tax returns, he should ask Obama for the items I have listed. There are many more which are also hidden or somehow have been mysteriously lost.

Mediaite -- Wednesday night on Hannity, conservative columnist Ann Coulter and host Sean Hannity strongly expressed their mutual disappointment in GOP Senate candidate Todd Akin‘s refusal to step aside in the wake of his controversial comments on rape and pregnancy.
“This selfish swine, Todd Akin, is going to hurt the Republican Party,” Coulter bluntly said.
The two then lamented what they see as a double-standard in which President Barack Obama is “utterly silent on Bill Maher, silent on Romney being called a ‘murderer’, causing this woman’s cancer. He is silent on the ‘felony’ talk. He is saying that Republicans want dirty air and water. He doesn’t get called out for it. This is a campaign of smear and slander.”
Coulter agreed, adding that “Todd Akin is being attacked for saying stupid about rape. The Democrats’ keynote speaker [Bill Clinton] is someone who was credibly accused of rape. [...] We can’t have a war on women because the Democrats have won that war between Teddy Kennedy, Bill Clinton, and Anthony Weiner.”
“We have gone from an easy win to a loss,” Coulter lamented. “And you might say, what Todd Akin cares about is stop overruling Roe v. Wade. I don’t think he does.”
“What he cares about is his own ego,” she continued. “He was showing off, fancy footwork and what he knows about the medical impact of rape on a woman’s body. He has harmed the Republican Party, and this is not a time to be fooling around.”
Blog author's comments - The comment by Todd Akin on rape and pregnancy obviously should never have been made. He should now drop out of the election for the good of the Republican Party and overall campaign. But, apparently he has put himself above the Party.
Instead of the Todd Akin blunder, the focus should be on what Obama has done to the country, his agenda, the economy, the debt, the high unemployment rate, Obamacare and the fact that until Obama is out of office there will not be any significant upsurge in the overall economy and job creation.
Also if Akin stays in the race, current Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri could retain her Senate seat and with her record she is one Democrat Senator who should have been easily defeated in November.
Akin's comment will now be used by the Democrats to create lies that Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan and the Republican Party agree with him and are against the rights of women.
My position on what Akin said is that we currently have laws which make abortion legal. I am not going to tell any woman what she should or should not do with regard to abortion, especially in the case of a rape. However, I don't believe the government should use taxpayers' money to fund abortions. I also don't agree that health insurance companies should be forced to cover abortions.
ST. LOUIS, MO ( KTVI) -U.S. Rep. Todd Akin says he misspoke when making a comment about rape and abortion during the taping of The Jaco Report on FOX 2. That remark made national headlines and sparked responses from both Akin’s opponent, Sen. Claire McCaskill and presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
During that interview the congressman and U.S. Senate candidate was asked whether abortion should be allowed in the case of rape.
Akin’s response was that it was his understanding from doctors that it’s rare for someone to become pregnant from rape. He said, “The female body has ways to try and shut that whole thing down.”
He went on to say that punishment should be on the rapist and not the child. Democrats started circulating his comment after the show aired citing statistics regarding rape and pregnancy.[...]

News One -- Of all of the things a chorus could be penalized for, you would never imagine that one could be banned from singing because it is too White.
But, according to WSB-TV, that is exactly the case for Cobb County’s Lassiter and Walton High School choruses.
The Atlanta Symphony Orchestra (ASO) told both schools that, because their choruses were not diverse enough, neither could sing at its annual Christmas concert.
“This year, the schools were informed by symphony officials that their choruses are not diverse enough, and that the symphony would be inviting a third, more diverse chorus,” said Cobb County Schools spokesman Jay Dillon.
WSB-TV sat down with the ASO president and CEO to explain the decision and work with those who disagreed with it. Here’s more on this story:
“We want the stages of the Atlanta Symphony, whether here, Verizon (Wireless Amphitheatre), or Chastain Park to reflect the diversity of Atlanta,” said ASO President Stanley Romanstein.
Blog author's comments - This is a shining example of liberalism. I do have to wonder if the president of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra is a Democrat and Obama supporter. What's the chance that the ACLU will jump right on this and file a lawsuit against the ASO ? I don't think it will happen.
Stanley Romanstein said the two schools performed for four consecutive years, and they were marvelous. Apparently discrimination is acceptable to the left when it helps to accomplish their goals. This is the future. Does anyone believe the NAACP and all the liberals would find it all right if a choir was banned from singing because they were too black --"not diverse enough?"

News Busters -- MSNBC's Touré Neblett just can't resist tossing out the race card whenever possible.
On Thursday's The Cycle, Touré accused presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney of using what he called "niggerization" against Barack Obama
KRYSTAL BALL, CO-HOST: So in addition to Romney’s whiteboard Medicare antics, he's also out with a new attack line on the President that he's been reiterating.
TOURE NEBLETT: Yeah, that really bothered me. You notice he says anger twice. He's really trying to use racial coding and access some really deep stereotypes about the angry black man. This is part of the playbook against Obama. The otherization, he's not like us. I know it's a heavy thing to say. I don't say it lightly. But this is niggerization. You are not one of us, and that you are like the scary black man who we've been trained to fear.
Blog author's comments - Many on the left, in this case Toure Neblett, will do and say anything which they believe will help Barack Obama win a second term. I suppose this person is still employed and the owners of MSNBC are okay with what he said.
Because Mitt Romney used the word "anger" in a campaign speech about Obama...that is "racial code" which implies racism? I suppose according to the liberal media, those of us who do not agree with Obama's agenda for the country, and what he has done during his time as president are racists. Because Obama is a black man we are not allowed to disagree with him?
Only a liberal like Toure Neblett would hear the word "anger" and think racism. I couldn't care less about the color of a person's skin, but a person's character is very important to me. Is it a surprise that the ratings for MSNBC are so low?

Aliens: Work Permits, No Safeguards Against Fraud
Stand With Arizona -- Obama’s lawless bypass of Congress in granting blanket amnesty to millions of illegal aliens began this morning across America.
Tens of thousands of illegals lined up early, and flooded into DHS centers to apply for nearly automatic 2-year stays from deportation and work permits, with far looser provisions and requirements than were ever imagined in any version of the 3-times defeated ‘Dream Act’ in Congress.
Thanks to Obama’s decree on June 15th, blanket amnesty for illegal aliens under 30 begins today as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) begins accepting applications for "deferred action" and work authorization.
To soften the public relations blow, the White House estimated that about “only 800,000″ illegal aliens would be covered under this amnesty, when Obama issued his edict – a complete fiction that he knew the media would not challenge. However, the figure was disputed by the Pew Hispanic Center, which estimated about 1.4 million beneficiaries. Then last week, the pro-amnesty Migration Policy Institute estimated that 1.76 million illegal aliens will be eligible.
In reality, the numbers will be higher – FAR higher. Why? Because, as House Judiciary chairman Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas) and Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) told DHS Secretary Napolitano in an August 13th letter, there are no mechanisms in place to detect, deter, or to punish fraud.
NONE. Nothing to stop illegals who either fall slightly outside the criteria, or far beyond its provisions to submit fraudulent documents and gain an automatic 2-year stay from deportation, and no consequences if they do. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) does not even require original or certified documents to be submitted – opening up a Pandora’s box of potential fraud from a group of individuals accustomed to a lifetime of employment and Social Security fraud, tax evasion and identity theft.
What is to stop 2 million new border crossers tomorrow from applying for and receiving this amnesty? Absolutely nothing.
Blog author's comments - Obama's executive order is granting amnesty to many who crossed the border illegally and are now being rewarded for doing so. We will now be more vulnerable to criminals, to job loss and to an infusion of non-assimilated citizens. Obama says it will make immigration policy more fair, more efficient and more just.
What I don't understand is why the Obama supporters can't see that what he has done in less than four years will continue to negatively affect their lives. We are paying and paying because of those who voted for Obama in 2008. I do hope many of them will not make that same mistake again.
Our country cannot survive another four years of Obama rule. As for the liberal Media, they too are responsible for what has been done because they do all they can to hide the facts and truth from the American people.

CNN -- Every few years, I reassess how I feel about Mexican-Americans who wave Mexican flags. Much of it has to do with who is doing the waving and under what circumstances.
In 2006, I wrote a column saying it was a bad idea for immigration reform advocates to wave Mexican flags as they marched through U.S. cities such as Phoenix, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. It's illogical to show your allegiance to one country while demanding accommodation from another.[...]
Now, thanks to U.S. Olympic medalist Leo Manzano, and what I consider to be the misguided and ill-mannered way he chose to celebrate his silver medal in the 1500-meters final, I get the chance to think through the subject of flag-waving once again.
After Manzano finished his race and secured his medal, he did what athletes typically do at the Olympics. He held up his country's flag -- the Stars and Stripes.
The 27-year-old was born in Mexico, but the United States is his country now. His father migrated here illegally from the city of Dolores Hidalgo. Manzano was brought here when he was 4. Like most immigrants, they came in search of greater opportunity. And they found it -- for themselves, and their children. That little boy eventually became a U.S citizen...[...]
So why did Manzano carry two flags with him on his victory lap? As the world looked on, he held up both the U.S. flag and the Mexican flag. Not a good look. And not a good idea.
Blog author's comments - I congratulate Leo Manzano, not only because of the Olympic medal he won but the speed he was blessed with and the years of training it takes to accomplish what he has.
He has the right to be proud of his heritage but, in my opinion, the Mexican flag had no place in his celebration as a member of the US Olympic team. Mexico didn't give his parents the opportunity they found here. Manzano should be quite happy for the fact that his parents left Mexico.
He was sent to the Olympics by the US to have the chance to accomplish his goal. How much did Mexico help him? He became a citizen, his father was an illegal. I would think that since he came here when he was four, he would consider the USA his country.

Fox News -- Mitt Romney announced Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan as his running mate Saturday, selecting the Republican Party's go-to man on budget issues in a decision that signals the campaign will make the nation's spiraling debt a centerpiece of its attacks on President Obama.
Romney made the selection official during a campaign stop Saturday morning in Norfolk, Va., before launching a four-day bus tour.
The Republican presidential candidate called his new running mate a man of "steadiness" and "integrity." Speaking Saturday morning, Romney praised Ryan as an "intellectual leader" of the party, one who understands the toll the debt is taking on the country but is optimistic about the future.
"He doesn't demonize his opponents. He understands that honorable people can have honest differences and he appeals to the better angels of our nature," Romney said. "He's never been content to just curse the darkness. He'd rather light candles."
To the backdrop of retired battleship USS Wisconsin, an energized Ryan then riled up the crowd with a feisty speech that promoted Romney as the solution to the problems under President Obama. Ryan, met with chants of "USA, USA," gave a sweeping vision speech on free enterprise, one laced with attacks on the White House incumbent.
"No one disputes that President Obama inherited a difficult situation. And, in his first two years, with his party in complete control of Washington, he passed nearly every item on his agenda. But that didn't make things better," Ryan said. "In fact, we find ourselves in a nation facing debt, doubt and despair."
Blog author's comments - I am pleased with the choice of Paul Ryan. He should help to energize the Republican Party's campaign. The voters will ultimately choose between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama but, Ryan could possibly make a difference in the outcome of the election by helping to motivate the GOP base and win some independents.
We shall see what the voters want for their country. We will also find out what they feel the government should or should not do for them. Do they want to make their own life choices or do they want the government to care for them?
Of course the attack ads and lies against Romney and Ryan will now come raining down from the liberals at a non-stop pace. The Democrats have nothing else. They cannot run on Obama's record, in my opinion he has been a dismal failure.

The Blaze -- It is hard to think of an attack ad lower than the one essentially blaming Mitt Romney for a woman's death but we may have just found one. (See attack ad on Romney below).
It’s from Florida, and it depicts Allen West (R-FL) in a boxing ring with red gloves on. The cartoon-like video then shows West punching an old woman, a young lady and seemingly a family with children. He also steals cash from the hands of the family and pockets it, all while laughing like a gremlin.
And the audio matches the video. The female announcer says in condescending tone as sound effects play in the background: “West has socked it to seniors” “He’s whacked women with his votes” “He’s mauled middle class families”
The ad is starting to garner attention from critics, including one who thinks there are some racial undertones. Javier Manjarres who is following the race closely, notes: ”The ad slyly uses a caricature of West and portrays him as a bully who hits women - more specifically, a white women - while he grabs money away from a “middle class” family that just happens to be a black family.”
Blog author's comments - Allen West a congressman from Florida is one of the few members of the GOP who is not afraid to be outspoken and critical of the Democratic Party and what they stand for and want for the country. The Democrats will continue to target West because they of course want him to lose his seat as a member of the House.
Lieutenant Colonel Allen West is one that can be trusted to tell the truth, so unlike the lies from the Obama administration. I do hope this ad and the pro Obama Super PAC ad about Romney will backfire on the Democrats in November's election.

Mitt Romney For The Death Of A Steel Worker's Wife
Business Insider -- The pro-Barack Obama super PAC Priorities USA unleashed what might be the most vicious ad of the 2012 campaign cycle this morning, an ad that personally points some blame toward presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney for the death of a steel worker's wife.
The ad, titled "Understands," is a much more pronounced and heavy attack than some of the others that the Obama campaign and Priorities USA have released targeting Bain Capital's closure of a GST Steel plant in Kansas City.
“Understands” features Joe Soptic, who was laid off from the plant and lost health benefits. The ad says that he later found part-time work, but his wife developed a stage-four cancer (not specified further) and "there was nothing they could do."
Here's the script:
When Mitt Romney and Bain closed the plant, I lost my healthcare, and my family lost their healthcare. And a short time after that my wife became ill.
I don’t know how long she was sick and I think maybe she didn’t say anything because she knew that we couldn’t afford the insurance, and then one day she became ill and I took her up to the Jackson County Hospital and admitted her for pneumonia and that’s when they found the cancer and by then it was stage four. It was, there was nothing they could do for her.
And she passed away in 22 days.
I do not think Mitt Romney realizes what he’s done to anyone, and furthermore I do not think Mitt Romney is concerned.
Soptic, incidentally, is the same person the Obama campaign featured in its first Bain Capital attack ad. That ad did not get nearly as personal, and Soptic did not mention his wife's story at all.
Blog author's comments - Joe Soptic, the former steel worker in the ad, blames Mitt Romney for the death of his wife. GST Steel closed in 2001. Romney took a leave of absence from Bain in February 1999 to run the 2002 Winter Olympics and wasn’t managing Bain Capital while he was running the Olympics. He left Bain in 2002. Mrs. Ranae Soptic died in 2006. Mitt Romney had nothing to do with closing the steel plant or ending the health care.
I do realize Barack Obama desperately wants to win a second term and that his administration will resort to anything to do so as will this pro-Obama super PAC. But, only the liberals would push and promote an ad like this.
So, the Obama administration believes Romney is guilty of the death of Mrs. Soptic even though he left Bain approximately seven years before Mrs. Soptic died and he is also a felon because he has not paid his income taxes for ten years -- according to Harry Reid. The IRS has somehow overlooked a decade of missing tax returns from a multi-millionaire? I don't think so.
A former employee of the Obama administration Bill Burton runs this pro-Barack Obama super PAC Priorities USA.

Investors Business Daily -- The word's out. Have you heard about a mysterious phone call from one of Happy Harry Reid's political cronies from the mortifying days in 1974 when Paul Laxalt waxed him for the Nevada Senate seat that changed the course of Reid's life forever?
It's a pretty shocking story, and one that the powerful Democrat has understandably never explained through all these years. It's haunted him though those early devastating political losses for the Senate and the Las Vegas mayor's office, the defeats that turned him into the bitter, cynical political mumbler he's become at age 72. [...]
Anyway, the Senate leader is now employing one of the oldest tricks in the political book, one that seems to have become a standard tactic for terrified Democrats this cycle.
Reid told reporters the other day that Republican Mitt Romney, who's threatening the political futures of many comfy folks in Washington now, has not paid income taxes for the last decade. Reid repeated the charge of this felony on the Senate floor Thursday. The Romney camp vehemently denies it.
Now, Harry says he's in possession of this information because an old business crony of Romney's, whom Reid won't name, made that statement in a phone conversation that Reid won't document. In fact, Reid has no proof whatsoever that what the unidentified caller allegedly said in that unverified conversation containing the unsubstantiated claim has any merit at all.
Reid didn't have time apparently to mention an accurate report that 36 Obama White House aides are $833,000 behind in their taxes, according to the Internal Revenue Service. Nor did Reid explain how the IRS has somehow overlooked a decade of missing tax returns from a multi-millionaire who's this administration's main political opponent.
Blog author's comments - Harry Reid with another lie, this one concerning Mitt Romney and his taxes. He said he was told Romney has not paid income taxes for ten years by an anonymous source - because there is no source.
Reid did not "explain how the IRS has somehow overlooked a decade of missing tax returns from a multi-millionaire who's this administration's main political opponent." This is another diversion by the Democrats to take the focus off of Obama and what he and his entire administration have done to the economy in less than four years.
The Democrats don't have anything to run on...they cannot run on Obama's record. They believe if they continue to repeat a lie - after a while some people will believe them.
The Democratic Party will do anything to secure a second term for the worst president in the history of our country, so he can continue to do what he has done during this term.

The Hill -- The liberal group MoveOn is putting its anti-Mitt Romney message into his horse’s mouth in a new TV ad released Thursday.
The ad purports to feature Rafalca, the dressage horse co-owned by the Romneys, speaking to the camera about her upkeep.
“How do I pull off such grace and athleticism while looking so good?” the voice of “Rafalca” says in the ad. “Maybe it's because the Romneys spend $77,000 a year on my upkeep, and after Mitt Romney repeals healthcare and ships your job overseas, I daresay your life will not be nearly as pampered as mine. After all, you're not one of his horses."
The number $77,000 comes from the loss that Romney declared on Rafalca in his 2010 tax returns, although the Romneys actually only received a $50 tax deduction for Rafalca that year.[...]
The Democratic National Committee (DNC) has also used Rafalca in previous attack ads.that hit the Romneys on their personal wealth, although the strategy earned some criticism because of the established relationship between Ann Romney’s horseback riding and therapy for her multiple sclerosis.
MoveOn said Rafalca is fair game because the way Romney uses his money relates to the positions taken by his campaign on taxes and healthcare. The group asked supporters to donate money toward the Olympic-timed TV ad, saying it would tell Romney to “quit horsing around with America's future.”
Blog author's comments - MoveOn is a pathetic organization. This is just one of the many diversions the liberals will be using this year. They will do anything in an attempt to distract some of the voters from Obama's destruction of the economy and jobs.
If anyone has been 'horsing around with America's future' it has been Barack Obama and the Democratic Party. The entire ad by MoveOn is to play the class welfare game against Mitt Romney a co-founder of a very successful company where he made his money. Somehow this seems wrong to the left.
MoveOn must agree with Senate leader Harry Reid who believes Romney has had to have done something illegal to attain his wealth.

Free Beacon -- Romney senior adviser Dan Senor defended Gov. Mitt Romney’s comments about the effect of culture on Palestine — rather than economics — in an exchange with Andrea Mitchell Wednesday on “Morning Joe.”
Blog author's comments - Andrea Mitchell - another liberal all weepy for offended Palestinian terrorists. I'm sure that none of that logic from Romney adviser Dan Senor settled in her brain.
The Palestinians could attempt to do more for their economy except they are too focused on trying to kill Israelis, and after decades of this they are still not catching on and never will.
For many years, the Palestinians have been given numerous chances to take the road of peace and have instead chosen violence. Mitchell is upset because Mitt Romney had a very successful trip to the Middle East. Andrea Mitchell fails again at pretending to be a journalist.
