GOP Rep. Blasts Acting House Speaker

Abuse Of Power By Acting Democrat Speaker On Display

GOP Rep. Steve Buyer Blasts Acting Dem Speaker: "This is why the People have Thrown You Out".

This is quite an exchange on the House floor, it is between Republican Steve Buyer and the acting Democratic House Speaker who is playing games with the rules. She will not recognize him and there is no one to object.

Blog author's comments - “This is why the American people have thrown you out of power,” GOP Rep. Buyer said to acting speaker Laura Richardson.

This type of action by the Democrats is only one of the reasons why the GOP won big in the midterm election. It's not only at this level of the Democrat Party, this attitude by Richardson also comes from the Oval Office.

WikiLeaks - More Documents Released

Approximately 250,000 Documents Released

WikiLeaks is an international non-profit media organization that publishes submissions of otherwise unavailable documents from anonymous sources and leaks.

Its website, launched in 2006. Within a year of its launch, the site claimed a database that had grown to more than 1.2 million documents.

US soldier Bradley Manning, left, is accused of stealing the classified files and handing the database to the WikiLeaks website of Julian Assange, right.

Bradley Manning, 23, enlisted in the US Army in 2007 and became an intelligence analyst in Iraq, sifting through classified information at Forward Operating Base Hammer, 40 miles east of Baghdad. For the last seven months, the U.S. Army soldier has been in solitary confinement. This came after he allegedly gave WikiLeaks their first bombshell they leaked earlier in 2010.

Julian Assange, the Australian who heads the secret-sharing Web site, told ABC News today he believes his safety and freedom are in danger. He responded to questions by email from a clandestine hideout. He was undaunted by vows from the U.S. and Australia to prosecute him and said the forthcoming diplomatic cables are aimed at "lying, corrupt and murderous leadership from Bahrain to Brazil."

Yesterday, the site released thousands of cables that exposed secret diplomatic communications. Although the government claimed that releasing them would put lives at risk, the site posted them and sent them to major newspapers.

Obama is the President and there is a site leaking state secrets and possibly jeopardizing American lives. Our government writes a polite letter to the man leaking the documents, Julian Assange.

Rush Limbaugh: How Is It That Julian Assange Remains Free?

Blog author's comments - Bradley Manning the person responsible for the theft of the documents has been in custody for months. He should never be released. Julian Assange who runs the Wikileaks site should be shut down and brought to trial.

I believe that most sane people would have serious questions about the Obama Administration's incompetence in the Wikileaks fiasco. The damage thus far has been done but how much more will it take for Obama and Holder to actually do something?

When will the leaders of the United States of America flex it's muscles and stop what is happening?

Portland Attack Foiled - Patriot Act Works!

Politically Correct Portland Rejected Feds Who Saved City

Washington Examiner - In 2005, leaders in Portland, Oregon, angry at the Bush administration's conduct of the war on terror, voted not to allow city law enforcement officers to participate in a key anti-terror initiative, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force.

On Friday, that task force helped prevent what could have been a horrific terrorist attack in Portland. Now city officials say they might re-think their participation in the task force -- because Barack Obama is in the White House.

Reading the FBI affidavit describing Islamist terror suspect Mohamed Osman Mohamud's plan to bomb a Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Portland's Pioneer Courthouse Square is a chilling experience.

Mohamud, a Somali-born naturalized U.S. citizen who attended Oregon State University, told undercover FBI agents he dreamed of performing acts of jihad in which hundreds, perhaps thousands, of Americans would die. "Do you remember when 9/11happened when those people were jumping from skyscrapers?" Mohamud asked the agents, according to the affidavit. "I thought that was awesome."

In months of preparation with men he thought were co-conspirators but were in fact undercover agents, Mohamud backed up his talk with action.

After initially making email contact with Islamist radicals in Pakistan, he took part in constructing what he hoped would be a very powerful bomb, scouted the best location for the attack, parked the van containing the bomb near the Christmas tree crowd, and, finally, dialed the cell phone number he believed would detonate the explosives.

I want whoever is attending that event to leave either dead or injured," Mohamud said of the 25,000 people expected to take part in the event.

That Mohamud was arrested and no one was hurt is a testament to good intelligence and law enforcement work. Having Mohamud behind bars has undoubtedly saved lives. - Entire column > >

Blog author's comments - Do you think the liberal Portland city officials have learned anything? They were angry at the Bush administration's conduct of the war on terror.

This sting by the feds had been going for months. President Bush signing the Patriot Act allowed them to make use of more aggressive wire taps and warrants. This put Mohamed Osman Mohamud behind bars, hopefully for life.

Remember when the liberals yelled how terrible George W. Bush was for putting the "Patriot Act" in place? It has been almost two years and the current president still has it in place.

Undercover agents in a sting operation stopped a Somali-born teenager from blowing up a van full of explosives at a crowded Christmas tree lighting ceremony in downtown Portland, federal authorities said. The bomb was a dud supplied by the agents and the public was never in danger.

“The threat was very real,” said Arthur Balizan, special agent in charge of the FBI in Oregon. “Our investigation shows that Mohamud was absolutely committed to carrying out an attack on a very grand scale.”

The voters in Portland, Oregon need to rid themselves of the left-wing leaders that now control their city.

Obama Reads Bible & Prays Every Night

President Obama And Family Involved In Daily Prayer

Barack Obama told Barbara Walters that he reads the Bible and prays every night.

Praying and reading the Bible are part of his everyday life, President Obama said in a wide-ranging interview broadcast Friday.

Speaking with Barbara Walters, Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama also described how they involve their daughters in daily prayer.

“Michelle and I have not only benefited from our prayer life, but I think the girls have too,” the president told Walters. “We say grace before we eat dinner every night. We take turns.”

Blog author's comments - President Obama says he reads the Bible and prays every night. When did this begin?

Wonder what he and First Lady Michelle pray for? Do you think this just started after the midterm election?

If he does pray every night do you think he uses this one which he learned from his Spiritual Mentor? Just asking!

Muslim Woman "Mortified" - Concerning Headscarf

Muslim Woman Says Roller-Skating Rink Discriminated Against Her

nypost.com - A Muslim woman claims that a Connecticut roller-skating rink discriminated against her because it wouldn't allow her to skate in her headscarf.

Marisol Rodriguez-Colon, 40, said she was "mortified" when she and another female relative showed up for a niece's birthday party at the Ron-A-Roll rink in Vernon and were barred at the door.

The venue's rules, posted at the entrance, read: "No Hats. No Headwear. No Exceptions."

Colon said her religious hijab shouldn't count under that policy -- and tried to appeal to a rink manager.

"We wear this for religious reasons," Colon said. "But they didn't want to hear that."

The manager, Colon said, gave the women two choices: take off the headscarves, or wear a helmet over them.

Taking off the hijabs was "not an option," Colon told WTIC-TV in Hartford.

She said she has worn the traditional headscarf for 16 years and has it on "wherever I go."

She and the other relative went back to their car and missed the party.

"I wear this with pride," Colon said. "I was mortified -- by asking someone to wear a helmet you are actually ostracizing us.

"You are singling us out and showing everyone there is an issue -- that something is wrong with these two women."

Ron-A-Roll management issued a statement spelling out its "no headwear" policy. It said helmets are offered for safety purposes.

"You are not allowed -- you are not welcome here. That is what that says to me," Colon said of the statement.

She said she was insulted that the rink would deny entrance to people "because of what they believe and what they are wearing because of those beliefs."

The Council on American-Islamic Relations said yesterday it filed a complaint with Connecticut's Human Rights Commission.

Several years ago, University of Albany student Zahra Shah was barred from wearing her headscarf at an upstate New York roller rink.

That arena, citing insurance reasons, also banned headwear.

An employee at the time told Shah that other skaters could trip and get hurt if the hijab fell off.

When Shah explained that she wore the scarf for religious reasons, one rink employee told her it was like a cowboy "religiously" wearing a cowboy hat.

After a barrage of phone calls from activist groups and others, the rink management apologized and said Shah could skate with her headscarf.

Blog author's comments - Just more fuel for the fire! The people of the Islamic religion known as Muslims continue to want and receive special rights and privileges and many United States citizens are ready to grant them their desires. What's next for us Sharia law? We would not want to be called anti-Islam or racist would we?

I don't happen to agree with the Islamic religion and its teachings. If you live within the U.S. you are free to practice your religion of choice but you should also abide by the rules and laws of our land. You should not receive special treatment from our people or government simply because of your religious beliefs.

I think that most of us have seen what has happened in the U.K. when their politicians caved and now the country is in very deep trouble from which they will never recover.

Sarah Palin On The Laura Ingraham Show

Palin Rebukes Barbara Bush, Family As 'Blue Bloods' After Remark

The Hill - Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) denounced the Bush family as "blue bloods" in an interview posted Wednesday and remarked that a mentality like theirs helped to cause the economic downturn.

Her comment came in response to a statement made by former first lady Barbara Bush during an interview with CNN's Larry King earlier this week. Asked for her take on Palin, Bush told King: "I think she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham followed up with Palin, asking if she thought Bush's comment had been planned ahead of time. Palin had this to say:

"I don't want to sort of concede that we have to get used to this kind of thing because I think the majority of Americans don't want to put up with the blue bloods —and I say it with all due respect because I love the Bushes — but the blue bloods who want to pick and choose their winners instead of allowing competition to pick and choose the winners."

She then invoked the economic crisis to explain her point.

"They [blue bloods] kind of do some of this with the economic policies that were in place that got us into these economic woeful times, too," Palin said. "So I don't know if that kind of stuff is planned out but it is what it is. We deal with it, and we forge ahead and we keep doing what we're doing."

Blog author's comments - Both Bush presidents were not good and neither were true conservatives. George W. Bush would not close our borders and signed on to the TARP bill, which I did not think was the right thing to do. Father and son lacked a backbone when it came to 'playing politics'. However I would have taken another eight years of George W. Bush in place of four years of Obama.

The Republican Establishment 'blue bloods' are used to having their way. They have never encountered someone like Sarah Palin. I do however have some doubt that she could win in 2012 but I would vote for her.

At this point in time who in the Republican Party do we have confidence in? We have two years to find someone who can win in 2012 and this is a must win for the GOP. If Obama continues with his policies and agenda during the lame duck session, he may defeat himself.

With the recent devastation experienced by the Democrats in the mid-term election, the Democrats don't know what to do about the Tea Party conservatives. There are also members of the GOP who do not take this group seriously.

What an absolutely stupid thing for Barbara Bush to say about Sarah Palin.

TSA, Obama and Napolitano - What Price In Dignity and Privacy Are We Willing To Pay?

Strip Search USA

investors.com - Safety: When U.S soldiers with nail clippers and flight attendants who've survived breast cancer are treated as potential terrorists, you know the TSA is "acting stupidly." Yet the administration thinks everything is fine.

Imagine the department of motor vehicles with cattle prods, and you're close to the mentality exhibited by Transportation Safety Administration chief John Pistole on CNN's "State of the Union" show Sunday. He told host Candy Crowley that what the Israelis have "is top-notch security," but the U.S. won't use these techniques because America does not profile.

Excuse us? The U.S. won't use what the world's No.1 terrorist target has shown to be effective because it's allegedly discriminatory, but is willing to strip-search grandmas and little children at random? This is cruelty and inefficiency raised to a science.

On Saturday, President Obama called the full-body scanners and groin checks being performed "a huge inconvenience for all of us."

Then there were the 100 Indiana National Guardsmen returning from duty in Afghanistan who were forced to exit their plane during a stop. They were all carrying unloaded M4 Carbines and M-240B machine guns. One had his tool kit confiscated and had to give up his nail clippers because a soldier on his way home from protecting his country might use them to take over the aircraft.

Mr. President, this is more than an inconvenience. This is barbaric, inhumane, unnecessary and arguably unconstitutional. It's a sad day when Khalid Sheik Mohammed has a greater presumption of innocence than American soldiers and the civilians they fight and die to protect.- Entire column > >
Blog author's comments - TSA does not need a little profiling, but a ton of profiling to stop this fiasco. The pat-downs are just the latest in a long string of misdirection's by the powers that be resulting in America's citizens being humiliated. The terrorists are surely having a great time watching what is happening to our country.

It says a lot about our society and none of it good, that we’ve reached the point that we think that being considered racist for doing sensible profiling like the Israelis do is somehow worse than being blown up by those who hate us.

Most airlines are already struggling - this latest tactic by the Obama Administration could be that he wants to take over the airline industry. He already controls health care, GM and Chrysler among others. Not bad for less than two years in office.

To echo Ann Coulter's thoughts, soon there will be a sign on your way to security check-in which reads: "Please have your genitalia out and ready to be fondled when you approach the security checkpoint."
Either that or those who take multiple round trip flights each month will be subjected to some radiation from the scanning machines. Take your pick, Obama knows best!

Rep.- elect Allen West said: "There are two aspects of terrorism. One aspect of terrorism is to kill you. The other aspect of terrorism is to create a disruption of your lifestyle through fear and intimidation," "So they have still won even though the underwear bomber was not successful in killing us. They have still won."

Lt Col Allen West - Now a Republican Congressman From Florida - How To Defeat Radical Islam

Allen West - Now Freshman Republican Congressman From Florida

"We can not allow them to come in to our country and proselytize in their mosques and talking about overthrowing our government, our constitutional democracy, saying they want to replace it with sharia, and then we say that’s okay, that’s freedom of speech, that’s freedom of religion; that’s not, that’s sedition."

"This is not going away. There are two ways you end the war, you win or you lose."

"How do you fight against a guy who is willing to die, you grant him his wish."

Blog author's comments - Too bad this man was not the first black president. I am convinced our country would not be in the shape we now find ourselves.

The wave of discontent with the Democratic-controlled Congress swept through the country sending Republican Allen West to Congress, where he’s very likely to get a quick place on the national stage.

Lt Col Allen West understands the true nature of Islam. He recognizes the menace of the Great Jihad. He will be heard on this subject in the halls of Congress. Why doesn't the president or the Department of Homeland Security understand? Is Rep. West the only one who really knows the ways of the enemy and understands that the U.S. is now in a weakened state?

CNN Is Concerned About Charlie Rangel

House Ethics Panel Convicts Rep. Charlie Rangel

thehill.com - Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.), once one of the most powerful members of the House, was convicted Tuesday on 11 counts of violating ethics rules and now faces punishment.

Rep. Zoe Lofgren (D-Calif.), the chairwoman of the adjudicatory subcommittee and the full House ethics committee, announced the decision late Tuesday morning following an abbreviated public trial and nearly six hours of deliberations.

"We have tried to act with fairness, led only by the facts and the law," Lofgren said. "We believe we have accomplished that mission."

The full ethics panel will now convene a sanctions hearing to recommend a punishment, which ethics experts say will most likely be a reprimand or formal censure. - Entire column > >

Blog author's comments - Charles Bernard "Charlie" Rangel, (born June 11, 1930) is the U.S. Representative for New York's 15th Congressional district, serving since 1971. He is a member of the Democratic Party. In January 2007, Rangel became Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee.

Why has Charlie Rangel not been arrested for tax evasion? Charlie Rangel has spent 40 of his 80 years in Washington, D.C., living off the sweat of American taxpayers.

Why is this guy still allowed to wander the halls of Congress after evading taxes for so many years? Powerless citizens will soon be subject to harassment by the IRS and a $5,000 fine for failing to buy Obamacare!

A mild scolding or a slap on the wrist is no way to deal with someone who has abused the public trust in order to enrich himself. Being 80 is no excuse for evading income taxes!

Anything short of expulsion from the House and loss of pension would be a mockery of justice.

Frustrated Left Trying To Take Down Limbaugh

Sharpton Wants Democrats To Push The FCC To
Take Away Rush Limbaugh's Freedom Of Speech

Rush Limbaugh: defends "Driving Miss Nancy"

Rush Limbaugh also said during a monologue on a later show: "Barack Obama's presidency is graffiti on the walls of American history"
(Graphic on his website)

Blog author's comments - Al Sharpton accuses Rush Limbaugh of racism, which is quite amusing coming from one who has made a very good living as a professional race-baiter/hate monger for many years. The Rev. has race-baiting down to a science.

Al Sharpton has helped incite an anti-Semitic riot. Don't forget when he condemned the three Duke Lacrosse players without a trial.

Most of us know about his involvement in the 'Tawana Brawley" case. Let's not forget his actions in the 'Crown Heights Riot'. I could continue the list is quite long.

He is not interested in protecting or promoting racial equality, Rev. Al Sharpton is only interested in keeping the racial pot stirred, which he does whenever he has the opportunity. This is what he is doing now with his comments concerning Rush Limbaugh

Obama - DREAM Act In Lame Duck Session

Obama Wants DREAM Act in Lame Duck

politico - President Barack Obama told Democratic members of Congress Tuesday he wants the DREAM Act passed in the lame duck session as a “down payment” on substantial immigration reform, according to members at the meeting.

And, he said, he’d call resistant senators to get them on board.

The president told Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Reps. Nydia Velasquez (D-N.Y.) and Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) in a meeting at the White House that he would call members holding out on approving the DREAM Act, which provides a path to citizenship for young illegal immigrants who complete two years of college or military service.

“What we said to him was, ‘We know you’re for comprehensive immigration reform. We have a window. It’s closing. Be for this. Let’s all be for this specific part,’ ” Gutierrez told reporters off the floor of the House. “And he said, ‘I will call the members and say I’m for comprehensive immigration reform, reiterate my commitment to it. I’d like this as a down payment.’ ” - Continue reading > > >

Blog author's comments - I do hope the voters will remember this in 2012. Obama did not learn anything from the midterm election or he is such a radical he will let nothing stop him from achiving his agenda for the country.

With this bill he sees more votes for the Democrat Party. Perhaps the Republicans and some Democrats who wish to be reelected in 2012 can block this bill if it comes up for a vote.

Rush Limbaugh - Obama Is an Utter Wrecking Ball

Barack Obama's Presidency is Graffiti
on the Walls of American History

Rush Limbaugh: Obama has been raised to believe all these people around the world hate us, hate America, and have deep resentment for us. "Barack Obama's presidency is graffiti on the walls of American history." That's what his administration is. "We have a juvenile delinquent for a president" who has ruined so much public and private property, not even his gang is making much of an effort here to protect him. It's an utter disaster.

Obama thinks he's gaining favor in the world by running around apologizing for us, apologizing for our transgressions, apologizing for our superpower status, for all of the evil and all the immoral, unjust actions that the United States has taken. He thinks he's gaining favor with people, and what he's actually doing is diminishing not just the country but himself as well.

It's evidenced by his utter failure at this G20. Never do you go on such a prominent, publicized meeting like this without some concrete deal already agreed to in advance.

Blog author's comments - Rush Limbaugh is right again! I saw this coming when Obama was running for the election of 2008. I knew who his associates were and his background.

I did not think he could or would do so much damage so quickly or that he was as radical as he is. The Mainstream Media would not utter a negative word about him. The liberals still believe that if one challenges Obama's policies and agenda that you must be a racist.

A few reasons he is now the president:
--The MSM for years had been portraying George W. Bush as an ignorant hick who did not belong in office. They convinced the non-thinking voters that the country needed a Democrat president and that Obama was 'The One' who would cure all of America's ills. The people in the media refused to do their jobs. Obama wasn't vetted.

--Because Barack Obama is a Black man, that brought out the Black vote and the young voters who knew nothing about him, but believed they would help make history by electing him as the first Black president.

The same can be said for the liberal MSM. He was a Black Democrat so he was also their choice and they gave him as much help as possible. They still do.

--His opponent, John McCain, was the last Republican I would have picked to run for president. He ran a miserable campaign. The only upside to the Republican ticket was Sarah Palin. She seemed to be the only one who wanted to win, but McCain had her handcuffed. She could not voice her thoughts concerning Obama.

I must agree with Rush, "This guy is an utter wrecking ball all by himself on the world stage to the point now of getting embarrassing."

Taxes & 'Death Panels' To Balance Budget?

Paul Krugman Recommends 'Death Panels' to Help Balance Budget

From a Roundtable discussion on ABC's "This Week," on Sunday.

CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR, HOST: But what is going to happen? I mean, are you clear on where a compromise is going to be? It's got to be discussed before the end of the year, no?

KRUGMAN: No. Some years down the pike, we're going to get the real solution, which is going to be a combination of death panels and sales taxes. It's going to be that we're actually going to take Medicare under control, and we're going to have to get some additional revenue, probably from a VAT.

****Update: Sensing he may have opened up a can of worms, Krugman posted a clarification at his blog on Sunday.

Blog author's comments - Before Obamacare was law the liberals trashed Sarah Palin for using the words 'death panels' while trying to warn us what we would eventually face with government control of our health care.

The government can determine who lives and who doesn't. There will not be a doctor making this determination, it will be some bureaucrat in Washington making the decisions.

Of course we could always ask for a 'waiver' out of the government health care system. Most of the union members seem quite successful doing it.

Over a Million Granted Waivers From Obamacare

White House Hands Out Obamacare Waivers to 111 Companies

Check out the Health and Human Services website, there are now 111 companies and organizations who receive temporary waivers from the Obamacare health law. The law was jammed down our throats, even though the majority of Americans did not want it.

The labor unions have been given thousands of waivers for their people. The same organizations that helped ram through the law are seeking shelter from it while everybody else is subject to the idiocy.

Want a waiver? Here’s the process for obtaining one (PDF). At present there are 1,175,411 people being covered by a temporary exemption from Obamacare.

Blog author's comments - This law as most of us know has nothing to do with affordable and quality health care at a lower cost. This is not possible with the government in control of the program.

This was about the legacy of Barack Hussein Obama and his control of your lives. So if you want to opt out of Obamacare apply for a waiver. Good luck!

Just remember this brilliant statement: "We have to pass the bill to see what's in it" - Nancy Pelosi 2010. This should certainly give you peace of mind concerning your future health coverage.

(The SEIU and other unions were given waivers.)

#12– UFCW Allied Trade Health & Welfare Trust
#14– IBEW No.915
#19– Asbestos Workers Local 53 Welfare Fund
#33– Plumbers & Pipefitters Local 123 Welfare Fund
#35– UFCW Local 227

Glenn Beck Gloat Fest 2010

Here is the video of Glenn Beck's radio show the day after the 2010 election.

I have viewed it a few times and find it amusing. It has been over a week since the election but why not enjoy it. Beck and his on air crew had a good time.

I hope they and many of us are able to do the same and celebrate after the 2012 election.

Blog author's comments - Too Funny! Glad to get a chuckle in with all that is going on! His staff member Pat, doing the singing, I don't know how his voice held up.

I hear talk about possible partisanship. Has there been any partisanship the past two years from the Democrats? I also don't want the Republicans to compromise! Winners don't compromise.

Obama Lifted Drilling Moratorium a Month Ago, But Government Has Not Issued Any New Permits

New deepwater drilling permits: Zilch

cnn.com - President Obama lifted his moratorium on deepwater oil drilling nearly a month ago, but the government still hasn't issued any new permits in the Gulf of Mexico.

The moratorium was lifted in mid-October after government officials were confident new, stricter rules and regulations were in place.

But no new permits for wells covered under the ban have been issued, according to a spokeswoman for the Interior Department's Bureau of Ocean Energy Management Regulation and Enforcement.

Even if a few permits come through, analysts say it will be a far cry from the amount issued pre-spill.

"We're not holding our breath for a return to business as usual," Whitney Stanco, and energy analyst at the Washington Research Group, wrote in a recent research note. "Despite pressure from Gulf state lawmakers and the oil and gas industry, we believe permitting in 2011 will likely be slower than it has been in recent years."

Future output could fall if new wells aren't drilled. EIA predicts U.S. output will drop by about 170,000 barrels a day in 2011 thanks to the ban.

"What's going on over here is a whole lot of nothing," said Jim Noe, an executive at Hercules offshore, who said they are still having a hard time getting permits even for shallow water wells.

Noe said they haven't had to lay off too many people yet, and have kept workers busy doing maintenance work and other jobs. But the longer the permit drought continues, the harder it gets.

"We're not optimistic we'll be back in business in a meaningful way anytime soon," he said.

Blog author's comments - What a complete joke this administration is. Tell us Mr. President why did you lift the moratorium if you did not intend to issue any permits? So...the moratorium was not lifted.

If anyone thinks this administration has learned anything from the outcome of the midterm elections you are wrong. They will continue to believe their policies and agenda are right for the country.

Winning control of the House by the GOP was big, but the gain in state legislatures should now give the Republican Party an added advantage for the future.

The mid-term results give Republicans control of at least 54 of the state legislative chambers, 18 more than before the elections, the highest number since 1952. As a result, state legislatures will likely reflect a more conservative political agenda when they convene in 2011, a crucial advantage in drawing new congressional districts based on the 2010 national census.

There will be significant turnover in House and Senate leadership when legislatures convene next year. Currently, 32 House Speakers are Democrats and 17 are Republican. Next year, this will change to 31 Republicans and 15 Democrats.

The GOP must make the most of what they have won to regain the White House and Senate in 2012.

Judge Suspends Law Which Oklahoma Voters Approved In Midterm Elections

Oklahoma's Ban on Shariah Law Blocked: Supporters Blame State Attorney General

foxnews.com - A popular new law that bars Oklahoma courts from considering Islamic law, or Shariah, when deciding cases was put on hold Monday after a prominent Muslim in the state won a temporary restraining order in federal court.

Two state legislators were quick to blast the judge's ruling and the Oklahoma attorney general, who they said did not stand up to support the new law.

U.S. District Court Judge Vicki Miles-LaGrange ruled that the measure, which passed by a large margin in last Tuesday's elections, would be suspended until a hearing on Nov. 22, when she will listen to arguments on whether the court's temporary injunction should become permanent.

"Today's ruling is a reminder of the strength of our nation's legal system and the protections it grants to religious minorities," said Muneer Awad, executive director of Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) in Oklahoma, who filed the suit last Thursday, claiming the law violated his constitutional rights.

"We are humbled by this opportunity to show our fellow Oklahomans that Muslims are their neighbors and that we are committed to upholding the U.S. Constitution and promoting the benefits of a pluralistic society," Awad said. - Continue reading > > >

Blog author's comments by two contributors - It's rather obvious that the will of the people have little to say nowadays. I'm seeing more and more of this type of judicial action.

Unfortunately, "we the people" may anticipate that Vicki Miles-LaGrange (born 1953) who is the Chief U. S. Judge for the Western District of Oklahoma will make her suspension/temporary injunction of the Oklahoma law blocking the application of Shariah and International Law to become permanent when the hearing takes place on November 22, 2010.

Beyond the merits of the arguments that may be made we can only wonder at what influences her background will bring to her decision. Judge Miles-LaGrange received her certificate from the University of Ghana in Accra, Ghana, West Africa in 1973, and graduated cum laude from Vassar College in 1974. She then received her J. D. from Howard University in Washington, DC in 1977. Miles-LaGrange was nominated by President William J. Clinton on September 22, 1994, to a seat on the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma vacated by Lee Roy West. She was confirmed by the United States Senate on October 7, 1994, and received her commission on November 28, 1994. She began her service as chief judge in 2008.

We are once again reminded that the perspective on one person, sitting as a judge, can trump the will of the majority. It also compels us to consider then act on the imposition of term limits for the judiciary. One sitting of four (4) years without the possibility of reappointment and/or extension should give "we the people" some relief from the oppressions being visited upon us via the judiciary. Realistically, we either cleanse the political and judiciary of their ability to transition us into serfdom or abandon any hope for a redress of this appalling circumstance save rebellion.

If nothing else we are experiencing the environment that must have existed in the year 1775.

A Book - A Dog Named Oogy

Oogy: The Dog Only a Family Could Love - by Larry Levin

This is a story about a puppy that was brought back from the brink of death and the family who adopted him.

In 2002 Larry Levin and his twin sons went to their local Animal Hospital to have their beloved but terminally ill cat put to sleep. Their day began as a terribly sad day. While they were at the hospital they met a dog who at first glance was one of the most unattractive dogs they had ever seen. But he ran up to them and captured their hearts. He had been at the hospital for quite a while. The dog as a puppy had been used as a 'bait dog' to train fighting dogs. After they had heard what had happened to him they adopted him and named him Oogy.

Oogy had been thrown into a cage and was attacked by a fighting dog, suffering terrible injuries and was left to die. The local police found Oogy and brought him to the animal hospital. The people at the hospital operated on him and cared for him, bringing him back from almost certain death. Oogy who has the spirit - which most of us wish we had - did not give up and did recover.

He had lost an ear and the hearing in that ear. His jaw had been severely broken, and he had very bad damage to one side of his face. When he did recover his face was covered with scar tissue. Larry Levin with sons Dan and Noah fell in love with him. Oogy went through so much but was quite lucky to become a member of a loving family and he of course returned their care and love with his loyalty and love for them.

I enjoyed getting to know the Levin family and hearing the story of Oogy's life as part of their family. It was most interesting getting to know Oogy as a puppy so full of energy and how he matured but always retained his zest for life. He had gone through so much pain and maltreatment but held on to his loving nature and outgoing personality, not only towards his adopted family but to so many other people and animals he would meet.

It is quite a touching story and Oogy is one great dog. I have gone through the sadness of losing a pet, and cannot stand to hear of animal abuse. Not long ago I had to have my treasured cat of 19 years put to sleep due to terminal illness, so I can relate to the bond the Levin family and especially Larry Levin soon formed with Oogy.

I would recommend this book. I will never understand cruelty towards animals. All that most pets would like is a little kindness. If they receive it, they will be your most loyal and loving friend as long as they live. If you want a dog or cat, visit your local animal shelter where you will most certainly find a friend who will have a special impact on your life.

I will end with a quote from one of my favorite author's who passed away approximately two years ago. "Cruelty to humans is occasionally understandable and even forgivable, but cruelty to animals somehow seems beyond redemption." -Philip R. Craig.

Mitch McConnell - Defeat Obama in 2012

McConnell: GOP's 'Only Option' is to Defeat Obama in 2012

The Hill
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) said Thursday that defeating President Obama is Republicans' "only way" to truly halt his agenda.

McConnell's comments are a doubling-down on his remark last week that Republicans' top priority during the next two years would be to defeat Obama.

"Over the past week, some have said it was indelicate of me to suggest that our top political priority over the next two years should be to deny President Obama a second term in office," McConnell said on Thursday during a speech at the Heritage Foundation.

"But the fact is, if our primary legislative goals are to repeal and replace the health spending bill; to end the bailouts; cut spending; and shrink the size and scope of government, the only way to do all these things it is to put someone in the White House who won’t veto any of these things."

Blog author's comments - Mitch McConnell showing some leadership against the agenda and policies of Obama and the Democrats. I am hearing much of the same from Jim DeMint and John Boehner.

With the GOP now in control of the House, there should be no compromise with the Democrats. There was no willingness to work with the GOP from the Obama administration during the first two years of his presidency. Do we ever see the Democrats compromise on anything?

Obama knows he is a lame duck for the remainder of his term. He now wants to meet and talk with the Republicans. Much too late Mr. President!

For the salvation of the country, Obama must only be in office for one term.

Time Magazine 2009 - GOP Endangered Species

Time: GOP Endangered Species
May 9, 2009

Polls suggest that only one-fourth of the electorate considers itself Republican, that independents are trending Democratic and that as few as five states have solid Republican pluralities.

The electorate is getting less white, less rural, less Christian — in short, less demographically Republican. GOP officials who completely controlled Washington three years ago are vowing to “regain our status as a national party” and creating woe-is-us groups to resuscitate their brand, while Democrats are publishing books like "The Strange Death of Republican America" and "40 More Years: How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation."
Blog author's comments - Midterm election 2010. The GOP picked up 60 seats in the House of Representatives, now controls the House.

Republicans also gained 6 Senate seats which could go to 9. Very important, the GOP gained 7 governorships with some races not yet called.

Republican gains weren't restricted to the House, Senate and governors races Tuesday. They also made some major strides in all-important state legislative races.

Not too bad for an "endangered species."

Election Day - 2010

Today is the day when the legal citizens of the United States can make a difference. We have seen within the past two years what the current administration has done to our country.

Do you like what they are doing? Do you approve of the path they have the country on? We are a nation in decline. The Democrats want to redefine us and we cannot accept that. We don't want to work with President Obama, we want to stop him.

With our vote we can tell the political party now in power - no more! We cannot allow what you are doing to continue.

We have the privilege of voting for many of the people we want to run our government in Washington and also our state and local governments. It is up to us. Do we allow the continuation of what is happening now or do we want something better? It is our choice.

Sarah Palin - On Corrupt Reporters vs. Joe Miller

Sarah Palin told Chris Wallace on FOX News Sunday “we have the tape that proves it” of the “corrupt bastards” in the media conspiring against Joe Miller.

"Just last night it was revealed that the rally that I had for Joe Miller on Thursday, it was revealed and we have the tape to prove it, that the CBS reporters, the affiliate in Alaska, conspired to make up stories about Joe Miller."

"I am saying that we have on tape the CBS reporters in the affiliate up there in Alaska saying, “Let’s find a child molester in the crowd as a supporter of Joe Miller. Let’s blast that. Let’s concoct a Rand Paul moment there. Let’s find any kind of chaos so we can tweet, “Ooh, there’s chaos. Joe Miller got punched.”

Blog author's comments - Employees at a CBS affiliate in Anchorage left an accidental voicemail for an aide to GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller. The recording was the result of a cell phone not being hung up after a call was placed to Randy DeSoto, Joe Miller campaign spokesperson, Thursday afternoon to discuss Joe Miller's appearance on that evening's newscast.

Moments after this Fox News report, KTVA General Manager Jerry Bever put out an official statement: "While the recording is real, the allegations are untrue,"

"The perception that this garbled, out of context recording may leave is unfortunate, but to allege that our staff was discussing or planning to create or fabricate stories regarding candidate Miller is absurd. The complete conversation was about what others might be able to do to cause disruption within the Miller campaign, not what KTVA could do."

"Have we had internal discussions about the level of professionalism we need to bring to our conversations, internally and externally? Of course we have, this is a lesson to learn from."

Mr. Bever - what your staff has to learn is when they are planning an attempt to come up with an untrue story to sway an election, they should know how to use their phones so they do not leave evidence of their plan.

Republican Joe Miller is facing off against Democratic nominee Scott McAdams, and write-in candidate incumbent Republican Senator Lisa Murkowski, who has already lost in the primary to Miller. Murkowski will not go away.
