Obama is a victim of Bush's failed promises

Obama is a victim of Bush's failed promises. An opinion piece by Chuck Green who writes "Greener Pastures" for the Aurora Colorado Sentinel...one of the more liberal papers in the country. Chuck Green is a life long Democrat. It was published February 7, 2010.

It is now July 2010 and Obama is still blaming Bush and telling us that he inherited this 'mess when he took office'. He refers to, our economic problems as the "Great Recession". Years from now, the Democrats will still be blaming Bush for what they have done to our country. Are there still that many Obama supporters who believe his lies?

The copy of the newspaper clipping above, came to me in the form of an email message from a friend. I am sure it has been around the Internet since it was written. I found a link to the column, it is worth reading.

Barack Obama is setting a record-setting number of records during his first year in office.

Largest budget ever. Largest deficit ever. Largest number of broken promises ever. Most self-serving speeches ever. Largest number of agenda-setting failures ever. Fastest dive in popularity ever.

Wow. Talk about change. Just one year ago, fresh from his inauguration celebrations, President Obama was flying high. After one of the nation’s most inspiring political campaigns, the election of America ’s first black president had captured the hopes and dreams of millions.

To his devout followers, it was inconceivable that a year later his administration would be gripped in self-imposed crisis.Of course, they don’t see it as self imposed.

It’s all George Bush’s fault.

George Bush, who doesn’t have a vote in Congress and who no longer occupies the White House, is to blame for it all.

He broke Obama’s promise to put all bills on the White House web site for five days before signing them.

He broke Obama’s promise to have the congressional health care negotiations broadcast live on C-SPAN.

He broke Obama’s promise to end earmarks.

He broke Obama’s promise to keep unemployment from rising above 8 percent.

He broke Obama’s promise to close the detention center at Guantanamo in the first year.

He broke Obama’s promise to make peace with direct, no pre-condition talks with America ’s most hate-filled enemies during his first year in office, ushering in a new era of global cooperation.

He broke Obama’s promise to end the hiring of former lobbyists into high White House jobs.

He broke Obama’s promise to end no-compete contracts with the government.

He broke Obama’s promise to disclose the names of all attendees at closed White House meetings.

He broke Obama’s promise for a new era of bipartisan cooperation in all matters.

He broke Obama’s promise to have chosen a home church to attend Sunday services with his family by Easter of last year.

Yes, it’s all George Bush’s fault.

President Obama is nothing more than a puppet in the never-ending, failed Bush administration. If only George Bush wasn’t still in charge, all of President Obama’s problems would be solved.

His promises would have been kept, the economy would be back on track, Iran would have stopped its work on developing a nuclear bomb and would be negotiating a peace treaty with Israel, North Korea would have ended its tyrannical regime, and integrity would have been restored to the federal government.

Oh, and did I mention what it would be like if the Democrats, under the leadership of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, didn’t have the heavy yoke of George Bush around their necks. There would be no earmarks, no closed-door drafting of bills, no increase in deficit spending, no special-interest influence (unions), no vote buying in Nebraska & Louisiana. . . Read entire column

Gun Rights Extended By Supreme Court

5-4: Supremes Affirm Gun Rights Nationwide

The Washington Post
WASHINGTON -- The Supreme Court held Monday that Americans have the right to own a gun for self-defense anywhere they live, advancing a recent trend by the John Roberts-led bench to embrace gun rights.

By a 5-4 vote, the justices cast doubt on handgun bans in the Chicago area, but signaled that some limitations on the Constitution's "right to keep and bear arms" could survive legal challenges.

Justice Samuel Alito, writing for the court, said that the Second Amendment right "applies equally to the federal government and the states."

The court was split along familiar ideological lines, with five conservative-moderate justices in favor of gun rights and four liberals opposed. Chief Justice Roberts voted with the majority.

Two years ago, the court declared that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess guns, at least for purposes of self-defense in the home.

That ruling applied only to federal laws. It struck down a ban on handguns and a trigger lock requirement for other guns in the District of Columbia, a federal city with unique legal standing. At the same time, the court was careful not to cast doubt on other regulations of firearms here.

Gun rights proponents almost immediately filed a federal lawsuit challenging gun control laws in Chicago and its suburb of Oak Park, Ill, where handguns have been banned for nearly 30 years. The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence says those laws appear to be the last two remaining outright bans.

Lower federal courts upheld the two laws, noting that judges on those benches were bound by Supreme Court precedent and that it would be up to the high court justices to ultimately rule on the true reach of the Second Amendment.

The Supreme Court already has said that most of the guarantees in the Bill of Rights serve as a check on state and local, as well as federal, laws.

Monday's decision did not explicitly strike down the Chicago area laws. Instead, it ordered a federal appeals court to reconsider its ruling. But it left little doubt that the statues eventually would fall.

Still, Alito noted that the declaration that the Second Amendment is fully binding on states and cities "limits (but by no means eliminates) their ability to devise solutions to social problems that suit local needs and values.". . Read entire column

At least five of the members of the Supreme Court know tyranny is never far away, so they did what is true & right for all of America! Thankfully we have the U.S. Constitution.

Both scary and pathetic that it was so close only 5-4. Too close for comfort, it should have been unanimous. The four liberals do not believe in the Second Amendment or the Constitution.

A Side Note:
In July of 2009 two Republicans voted against a Senate Bill which would have allowed anyone with a Concealed Carry Permit to legally carry a concealed weapon in most states.

The vote was 58-39 in favor. The amendment needed 60 votes to pass. The vote split the Democrats, with 20 supporting the measure and 35 opposing it. Two of the Senate's 40 Republicans -- Richard Lugar of Indiana and George Voinovich of Ohio voted against it.

Biden: We Can't Recover All the Jobs Lost

(CBS News) Vice President Joe Biden gave a stark assessment of the economy today, telling an audience of supporters, "there's no possibility to restore 8 million jobs lost in the Great Recession."

Appearing at a fundraiser with Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.) in Milwaukee, the vice president remarked that by the time he and President Obama took office in 2008, the gross domestic product had shrunk and hundreds of thousands of jobs had been lost.

"We inherited a godawful mess," he said, adding there was "no way to regenerate $3 trillion that was lost. Not misplaced, lost."

Claims for jobless benefits fell by the largest number in two months last week, but were still high enough to signal weak job growth. Meanwhile, the Senate on Thursday failed to pass an extension of unemployment benefits.

Biden said today the economy is improving and noted that in the past four quarters, there has been 4 percent growth in the economy. Over the last five months, more than 500,000 private sector jobs were created. "We know that's not enough," the vice president said. . . Entire Column

Joe "Plugs" Biden and the entire Obama regime will continue to lay the blame for whatever is wrong with our country on George W. Bush. The Obama regime has created most of the economic problems we now have, including the bulk of the lost jobs.

"We inherited a god-awful mess," Biden said, adding there was "no way to regenerate $3 trillion that was lost. Not misplaced, lost."

This is a lie VP-Biden! But are the 'thinkers' in this country buying this story? Are most of the people still tuning in to the MSM for their political information? Let's hope not.

Obama has been on a spending and power grabbing binge since he took office and this will not slow down unless the Republicans can gain many seats in the House and some in the Senate.

Even if they do, it is way past time for the Republican office holders to do the job which is required and put a stop to what has happened in less than two years. The Democrats know how to play the political game. This is something the Republicans have still not seemed to learn.

For those people who care, you have to vote for the right candidates in November's mid-term election. This could well be the last chance to save our country from the "Hope & Change" gang.

George W. Bush Asks - "Miss Me Yet?"

This cheery image of former President George W. Bush appeared on a billboard in Minnesota a few months ago, next to the words, "Miss Me Yet?" It appears a lot of people think it's a fair question.

I voted for Bush, but I also had issues with many decisions he made and others he should have made but did not. I will say that I would take another eight years of Bush, instead of the 'Community Organizer' we now have.

Hopefully this November we can gain back some power to stop what he is doing to the country. In the meantime the Democrats will quickly ram through every bill they can, because I believe they know that after the mid-term election, Obama's last two years he will be a 'lame duck' President. I sure as hell hope so.

Fox News - Neil Cavuto Interviews the AFL - CIO Economist Ron Blackwell

Ron Blackwell, the Chief Economist for the AFL - CIO, in an interview, which turns into an argument, with Neil Cavuto of Fox News. Cavuto asked Blackwell, If the Obama administration has already spent a Trillion dollars and has seen no net job gain, how will more spending create jobs?

Blackwell, after two years, still blames all of our problems on Bush and tries to use smoke and mirrors to justify the spending and the additional spending which they want. Blackwell shows us what a 'class guy' he is by calling Neil Cavuto an "a**hole".

So, this is the 'Chief Economist' of the AFL - CIO...forever a union thug. Watch the video, you be the judge of who the real "a**hole" is!

Illegal Immigrants - We Don't Need or Want Them

(Zoom - Click Image / Close - Back Button)

Read their protest sign - disgusting! Do we want these people living here? I certainly have no problem with legal immigrants. What I don't want is illegal immigrants telling the U.S. that we owe them. We don't owe them a damn thing. I wish our government thought the same way.

They are illegal and according to Federal law, which the Feds. will not enforce, should be rounded up and deported. Instead, the Obama administration disregards the tax dollars which are spent on these people and the soaring crime rate they bring with them.

Obama views the illegals as future Democrat voters as soon as he can ram through a bill to give them amnesty. By now the borders should have been closed. This did not happen while Clinton and Bush held the office of President and will not happen with Obama in power.

Now the Obama regime is going to file a suit against the state of Arizona because they passed a law to attempt to stop from being overrun by illegals. Obama does not agree with that.

Obama is defending people who are here illegally and we are to believe this President is doing his job? The majority of Americans believe the Arizona law is what the state needs and they approve of it. If the Feds. refuse to do their job, the states will do it for them. Just get the hell out of the way and let them handle the problem!

You protesters for immigrants rights, this sign is just one of the reasons we agree with Arizona and what they must do to save their state. Illegal immigrants are just one of the many reasons our country is falling apart.

More Handguns, Less Crime - or More?

The American Spectator
By on 6.21.10

In 1998, John R. Lott Jr. dropped a bombshell on the academic and legal worlds with More Guns, Less Crime. Lott had conducted perhaps the most detailed study of crime in history, using data from every county in America, and concluded that right-to-carry (RTC) laws -- which allow citizens to carry concealed guns, but typically require them to receive training and pass a background check first -- reduce crime.

The University of Chicago Press has just released a third edition of the book, with updated numbers and more than 100 pages of new material. In addition to expanding Lott's argument with data from the last decade, it provides an excellent chance to look at the current state of the gun-policy debate.

Three things are clear. One, despite years in the academic spotlight, this book's central argument about right-to-carry laws has failed to create any kind of consensus. Two, the dire predictions of right-to-carry opponents have not come true. Three, the next great gun-control debate will concern handgun bans . . . Read Article, pages 1-2

Rock musician Ted Nugent discusses his views on the Second Amendment with Evan Smith, host of the KLRU program "Texas Monthly Talks."

Paul McCartney on oil spill said - "Sadly We Need Disasters Like This To Show People."

(FOX) The shocking images of oil-covered wildlife and ruined beaches across the Gulf of Mexico have horrified millions.

But passionate green campaigner Sir Paul McCartney believes the environmental disaster may have a silver lining, with the search for clean, renewable energy now being pushed forward. The Beatles legend said: "Sadly we need disasters like this to show people."

"Some people don't believe in climate warming - like those who don't believe there was a Holocaust."

"But the facts indicate that there's something going on and we've got to be aware of it if we want our kids to inherit a decent world, not a complete nightmare of a planet - clean, renewable energy is for starters."

In an exclusive interview, Sir Paul also defended US President Barack Obama's conduct during the crisis, which was caused by an explosion at BP's Deepwater Horizon oil rig in April that left 11 dead.

The singer said: "I don't accept the criticism of Barack over the oil spill." "I think he's been great. It's tough if we Brits whinge that he's whingeing at us. Tough, then don't spill oil." Sir Paul - who met Obama for the first time earlier this month - added: "BP isn't just a British company any more, it's half American.

"The thing is, if you do something like that you're not going to get away with it. If the President of the country you spilled oil in tells you off then you've just got to take it or say, 'I'm really sorry, we'll clean it up and pay for it all by next week.' "If you create the biggest environmental disaster in US history then you're not going to get off that lightly" . . . Read Full Article (The Sun)

Paul - just a few words after reading your comments. From a bass guitar player to an environmental expert. Because you echo what Obama is saying and because of your celebrity status you receive the news coverage. Last week Robert Redford was the expert with his comments on the environment, which were also picked up by the MSM.

I have always been a fan of your music, but cannot agree with you concerning drilling for more of our own oil, our oil consumption and Global warming.

There were over 600 oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico in 2008. This is the first one that has had a problem of this magnitude. If the government would allow drilling in more shallow waters and drilling on our own land, instead of a mile down in the ocean floor, we would not be having this problem.

China and Russia are still drilling off shore, who will tell them to stop?

Is U.S. Now On Slippery Slope To Tyranny?

Investor's Business Daily
By THOMAS SOWELL Posted 06/21/2010

When Adolf Hitler was building up the Nazi movement in the 1920s, leading up to his taking power in the 1930s, he deliberately sought to activate people who did not normally pay much attention to politics.

Such people were a valuable addition to his political base, since they were particularly susceptible to Hitler's rhetoric and had far less basis for questioning his assumptions or his conclusions.

"Useful idiots" was the term supposedly coined by V.I. Lenin to describe similarly unthinking supporters of his dictatorship in the Soviet Union.

Put differently, a democracy needs informed citizens if it is to thrive, or ultimately even survive.

In our times, American democracy is being dismantled, piece by piece, before our very eyes by the current administration in Washington, and few people seem to be concerned about it.

The president's poll numbers are going down because increasing numbers of people disagree with particular policies of his, but the damage being done to the fundamental structure of this nation goes far beyond particular counterproductive policies.

Just where in the Constitution of the United States does it say that a president has the authority to extract vast sums of money from a private enterprise and distribute it as he sees fit to whomever he deems worthy of compensation? Nowhere.

And yet that is precisely what is happening with a $20 billion fund to be provided by BP to compensate people harmed by their oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

Many among the public and in the media may think that the issue is simply whether BP's oil spill has damaged many people, who ought to be compensated.

But our government is supposed to be "a government of laws and not of men."
If our laws and our institutions determine that BP ought to pay $20 billion — or $50 billion or $100 billion — then so be it.

But the Constitution says that private property is not to be confiscated by the government without "due process of law."

Technically, it has not been confiscated by Barack Obama, but that is a distinction without a difference.

With vastly expanded powers of government available at the discretion of politicians and bureaucrats, private individuals and organizations can be forced into accepting the imposition of powers that were never granted to the government by the Constitution.

If you believe that the end justifies the means, then you don't believe in constitutional government. . . Read more

Emanuel - It Will Be Dangerous If GOP Held Power

Washington (AP) - President Barack Obama's chief of staff is warning about what might happen if Republicans—who have defended BP over the Gulf oil spill—were to run Congress after the fall election. Rahm Emanuel says the GOP philosophy is to paint BP as the victim. He says Obama will make clear to voters the fundamental differences in how each party would govern.

Emanuel tells ABC's "This Week" it would be "dangerous" if the GOP held power in Washington. He says GOP lawmakers and candidates are attacking the administration for demanding that BP set up a $20 billion compensation fund.

Last week, Rep. Joe Barton apologized to BP for what he called a White House "shakedown." The Texas Republican later stepped back from those remarks.
The oil spill is the 'crisis' Obama and Emanuel needed and they will use it to their advantage. This is 'cover fire' for the mid-term elections in November. At this point in time it looks as if the Democrats could lose many House seats and some Senate seats.

But now, Obama will have a $20 billion political slush fund from BP, supposedly to clean up the oil spill and help the people who live and work on the Gulf coast. Much of it will not be used for that. Does anyone really believe that none of this money will be used to buy votes for the upcoming November election?

Who is overseeing this $20 billion? Obama's Pay Czar - he will do whatever Obama tells him to do with this money. Disgusting that Obama threatened BP to hand over a $20 billion political slush fund to be administered by Obama with no oversight whatsoever.

Meanwhile the federal government will be immune from prosecution for the responsibility they should have to face for their inept handling and lack of action to help control the spill. Obama and Emanuel will try to turn this crisis from also being their responsibility and plant it firmly on the back of BP. It is already happening from the White House, with the help of the MSM.

Clinton - White House To Sue Over Arizona Law

Hillary Clinton Announced That The White House Will Sue Over Arizona's New Immigration Law.

It is not clear whether Clinton was just making a prediction or whether she was getting ahead of a planned announcement by the administration. If this was fact, why would the Obama regime allow Clinton to announce it while talking to a local TV reporter during her trip to Ecuador?

Perhaps the Secretary did not get the right talking points. "The Justice Department, under his direction (Obama), will be bringing a lawsuit against the act," she blabbed.

That news of course did not make Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer very happy. "To learn of this lawsuit through an Ecuadorean interview with the secretary of state is just outrageous," she said in a statement."

If our own government intends to sue our state to prevent illegal immigration enforcement, the least it can do is inform us before it informs the citizens of another nation."

(Latest news - June 18, 2010)
CBS News reports that a "senior administration official" has confirmed to them that Hillary Clinton was telling the truth in the interview with an Ecuadorian media outlet. The Obama administration will file a lawsuit in federal court to block Arizona’s new law requiring law-enforcement personnel to check immigration status while processing suspicious people already in custody.

The Obama regime will indeed formally challenge the law when Justice Department lawyers are finished building the case. Governor Jan Brewer blasted Obama and his administration for their handling of this policy direction and I believe many Americans will agree. Meanwhile, Obama will continue to pursue a policy that is even less popular than his ObamaCare bill, just in time for the midterm referendum on his first two years in office.

Mr. President - Talk Is Cheap

The American Spectator
By Russ Ferguson
When the President gave his first address from the Oval Office Tuesday night, I was surprised the networks weren't running a live feed of the Gulf oil spill in the corner of the screen.

Not only because they are almost always running that live feed, but because it would be a perfect image of what has been happening for almost 60 days now. Oil has been flowing out of a hole at the bottom of the sea at an astronomical rate, and the President has been talking. Just talking.

Even in his speech Tuesday night, he started by telling the American people what he had directed BP to do. But where is the action?

He said that there are 3,000 oil cleanup workers in four states and 1,000 ships -- but he didn't say that he sent them. He said there are over 17,000 National Guard troops there, but those are the National Guard troops belonging to the Gulf states (of which there are over 50,000 troops) and acting under their governors' leadership. And nonetheless, where are the results of all this effort? Oil is spilling out at higher rates than ever before.

This is not war; this is something that a president should have been able to contain a month ago. And if you couldn't contain it, he should have at least been able to clean up the oil on the surface as it accumulated. It is scary to think we have the strongest military in the world, but we can't even use our ships and equipment to sop up oil.

The President, time after time again, tried to become Barack Obama the beloved candidate. He talked about future policy and said that we need a long-term Gulf restoration plan "ASAP." No -- we don't need a long-term plan ASAP, we need to clean up the spill ASAP. Once again, this President is not governing, he is campaigning.

He also emphasized the importance of creating a commission to examine the cause of the spill to once again highlight the finger-pointing he has done from the beginning. Creating this commission should be the subject matter of a speech after the oil is contained. For now, STOP THE SPILL. Then worry about who started it.

The President concluded his speech by talking about future policies. Putting aside the fact that he is once again using this disaster to campaign for his agenda, he said, "The one approach I will not accept is inaction."

Well, Mr. President, lead by example. Because the only approach to cleaning up the oil spill we have endured is inaction. It's time to stop talking and start leading . . . Read entire column

The Prize Doesn't Always Go To The Deserving

Trudging Toward the Next Holocaust: Remembering Irena

On May 12, 2008, a 98 year-old heroine passed away. Her name was Irena Sendler.

In 2008 there was a death of a 98 year-old lady named Irena. During WWII, Irena, got permission to work in the Warsaw Ghetto, as a Plumbing/Sewer specialist. She had an 'ulterior motive'...She KNEW what the Nazi's plans were for the Jews, (being German).

Irena smuggled infants out in the bottom of the tool box she carried and she also carried a burlap sack in the back of her truck, for the larger kids. She also had a dog in the back that she trained to bark when the Nazi soldiers let her in and out of the ghetto. The soldiers wanted nothing to do with the dog and the barking covered the kids/infants noises.

During her time of doing this, she managed to smuggle out and save 2500 children. She was caught, and the Nazi's broke both her legs, arms and beat her severely.

Irena kept a record of the names of all the kids she smuggled out in a glass jar, buried under a tree in her back yard. After the war, she tried to locate any parents that may have survived it and reunite the family. Most had been gassed. Those kids she helped got placed in foster homes or adopted.

In 2007, Irena was up for the Nobel Peace Prize. She was not selected - Al Gore won, for a slide show on Global Warming.

It is now more than 60 years after the Second World War in Europe ended. This is in memory of the six million Jews, 20 million Russians, 10 million Christians and 1,900 Catholic priests who were, massacred, raped, burned, starved and humiliated with the German and Russian Peoples looking the other way!

Now, more than ever, with Iran and others, claiming the Holocaust to be 'a myth', it's imperative to make sure the world never forgets, because there are others who would like to do it again.

Hey Obama - What Took You So Long?

New Republican National Committee (RNC) Ad that asks President Obama about the Gulf Oil Spill Crisis, "What Took You So Long?"

Would one have ever believed that the RNC could ever have used James Carville, against a Democrat President?

It is almost 60 days since the spill occurred and it is still leaking massive amounts of oil. The Dutch offered to fly their skimmer arm systems to the Gulf three days after the oil spill started.

The offer was apparently turned down because EPA regulations do not allow water with oil to be pumped back into the ocean. We should have been using these skimmer boats from the beginning, when the Dutch made the offer.

Finally the Dutch oil skimmers are being used. They have only been working for approximately eight days with good results.

Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-NC) Assults Student

Student Reporter is Assaulted by Congressman Etheridge (D-NC) for Asking Him a Simple Question.

A college student reporter, was assaulted by Congressman Bob Etheridge (D-NC) for asking the following question: "Do you fully support the Obama agenda?"

The congressman began yelling at the student, "who are you", grabbed the student by his arm and than around his neck. The student was smaller than Etheridge but the student retained his cool. He did not fight back or try to push Etheridge away. The student asked him,"let me go", but Etheridge remained on the offense.

A simple "no comment" to the student's question would have ended a brief meeting. But no, I assume Etheridge had something to prove. The video and audio shows it all. One would think that Etheridge would be used to reporters asking him questions, wherever he may be. It's part of his job.

No surprise, the DNC is already defending Rep. Bob Etheridge. They believe that it was a setup by the GOP. Again I say, if Etheridge simply said "no comment" and continued walking, the entire fiasco would have been avoided.

Despite the Dems defense of Etheridge, still, it's pretty hard to think of a context in which Etheridge's assault on the student reporter would be acceptable.

Keith Olbermann Interviews S.C. Senate Nominee

MSNBC's Show Countdown - Hosted By Keith Olbermann, Interviews S.C. Senate Nominee Alvin Greene

During this interview Olbermann is not on the offense the way he usually is. I have to guess this is because Mr. Greene is an upstanding Democrat. Smear, lie and attack is in most cases the stock-in-trade of the infamous, deplorable Keith Olberman.

Keith, what makes you think he is a GOP plant? He is an honest to goodness outstanding Democrat Senate Nominee in South Carolina. He has the qualifications to be a fine Democrat Senator. At present he is unemployed, lives with his mother, has no money and is facing a felony charge involving pornography. It sounds as if he has all the makings of a perfectly acceptable Democrat Senator. The Democrats must be proud as they listen to the obviously qualified man being interviewed by Olbermann.

Keith Olbermann, Mr. Greene has been a Democrat all his life, he told you so during the interview. So as far as you are concerned that should be all that is needed for him to be ready to function as a Senator. If Mr. Greene faces Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) in a debate, that could be quite entertaining.

If Mr. Greene is a 'plant' whoever pulled this off did a superior job. In listening to Greene’s confusing responses to Olbermann, he made Olbermann appear to actually be a sane person.

Obama Pleads For $50 Billion In State & Local Aid

Obama Wants More Of Our Money. He Is Now Asking For $50 Billion More For State and Local Aid - When Will It End? Where Did The Money Go From The First "Stimulus" Bill?

The "Community Organizer" is responsible for this economy. It is time for some employees to take a pay cut or at least have their salaries frozen for a year, if their states and communities cannot afford them. I believe Obama wants this money now, to buy Democrat party votes for the election in November.

The Washington Post
By Lori Montgomery, Sunday, June 13, 2010

President Obama urged reluctant lawmakers Saturday to quickly approve nearly $50 billion in emergency aid to state and local governments, saying the money is needed to avoid "massive layoffs of teachers, police and firefighters" and to support the still-fragile economic recovery.

In a letter to congressional leaders, Obama defended last year's huge economic stimulus package, saying it helped break the economy's free fall, but argued that more spending is urgent and unavoidable. "We must take these emergency measures," he wrote in an appeal aimed primarily at members of his own party.

The letter comes as rising concern about the national debt is undermining congressional support for additional spending to bolster the economy. Many economists say more spending could help bring down persistently high unemployment, but with Republicans making an issue of the record deficits run up during the recession, many Democratic lawmakers are eager to turn off the stimulus tap.

"I think there is spending fatigue," House Majority Leader Steny H. Hoyer (D-Md.) said recently. "It's tough in both houses to get votes."

Democrats, particularly in the House, have voted for politically costly initiatives at Obama's insistence, most notably health-care and climate change legislation. But faced with an electorate widely viewed as angry and hostile to incumbents, many are increasingly reluctant to take politically unpopular positions . . . Read more

Sarah Palin Say's No To Breast Implants

Sarah Palin Denies Rumors That She Has Had Breast Implants

Sarah Palin during an interview on Fox News was asked about the rumor that she has had breast implants: She said -"Nooo! I have not had implants."

The lefties from the MSM need to drop their preoccupation with Mrs. Palin’s breasts, and start asking when Mr. Wonderful is going to grow a set of cojones.

Really, who cares even if Sarah has implants? It's no one's business but hers. I have met the lady and was very impressed. Believe me, of all the pictures you may have seen of her, none of them do her justice.

With Sarah Palin the conservatives have a spokesperson who is both intelligent and a very attractive lady. This is why the liberals hate her. Have you really listened to and taken a look at some of the liberal ladies, including Michelle Obama? Enough said.

By William Kristol, June 11, 2010 - THE WEEKLY STANDARD has learned that senior Obama administration officials have been telling foreign governments that the administration intends to support an effort next week at the United Nations to set up an independent commission, under UN auspices, to investigate Israel's behavior in the Gaza flotilla incident.

While UN Ambassador Susan Rice is reported to have played an important role in pushing for U.S. support of a UN investigation, the decision is, one official stressed, of course the president's . . . Read entire column

Obama's Inner Circle Of Chicago Thugs

Sarah Palin: "right now it sounds like the inner circle that he has are some Chicago thugs. And that's not doing our country much good."

FoxNews.Com
Former Alaska Governor on the Sean Hannity show, June 9,2010.

PALIN: "Throw in there, decreased consumer confidence, too. And then we even haven't talked about national security issues either. But I think what the president is realizing is that his lack of executive experience is coming into play right now."

"I know that he mocked and chided others who did have experience in the campaign and he acted like being a community organizer was all that it was going to take. What the president needs to do is really humble himself and I say it with all due respect because I so respect the office of the presidency."

"But to humble yourself and call those around you who — on a nonpartisan basis, please call those around you who can give you the best advice and provide some answers to get us out of some of the problems that we're facing right now, not just with the oil spill."

"And, you know, I've offered the greatest oil and gas team in the world assembled, I believe, because they're up there in Alaska helping to produce nearly 20 percent of the U.S. domestic supply of energy. But not just with the oil spill, but with the economy and with our military and how it is that we should be treating our allies, not poking them in the eye."

"All those things. He needs to call in those around him and kind of broaden his inner circle of confidants because right now it sounds like the inner circle that he has are some Chicago thugs. And that's not doing our country much good."

Mosque To Be Built Near Site Of Twin Towers

As many as 10,000 protesters gathered in Manhattan on Sunday, June 6, 2010 to demonstrate against plans to build a 13 story mosque near the site of Ground Zero where the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were destroyed by Islamist hijackers on September 11, 2001.

"After hours of public comment, a New York City community board voted to support a plan to build a mosque and cultural center near ground zero." Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer said in a statement "that by supporting the multi-faith community and cultural center, the board sent a clear message that our city is one that promotes diversity and tolerance."

So we should appease our enemy and what they did to us? Let a mosque be built near the site where our nation was attacked? The people who protested on June 6, 2010 disagree with that statement.

I am amazed at how many Americans really don't care about what is happening to their country. Are there really that many people who are so liberal leaning that they are more concerned about being politically correct rather than take a stand and telling these people no, there will not be a mosque built anywhere near the ground zero site?

The family members who lost a husband, wife or friends during the attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11, how can they deal with this fiasco? At least a portion of the site at ground zero should be used for a monument to what happened there. So that the people in our country and future generations, do not forget the many lives that were lost. Not only should we never forget, we should never forgive our enemy for what happened to us.

Are most of us just going through life with no idea about what is happening in and to our country? Do you know what your government is doing, has already done and is planning to do? Those who have no idea - sometimes I envy them. They don't stress themselves about these things.

To quote an unknown U.S. Marine in Iraq who stated "America's not at war, the Marines are at war, America's at the mall."

Tax Hikes And The 2011 Collapse

The Wall Street Journal
Today's corporate profits reflect an income shift into 2010. These profits will tumble next year, preceded most likely by the stock market.

By ARTHUR LAFFER
People can change the volume, the location and the composition of their income, and they can do so in response to changes in government policies.

It shouldn't surprise anyone that the nine states without an income tax are growing far faster and attracting more people than are the nine states with the highest income tax rates. People and businesses change the location of income based on incentives.

John Fund of WSJ's Political Diary breaks down Tuesday's most interesting primary contests. Also, WSJ Columnist Mary Anastasia O'Grady translates the latest economic signals from Washington.

Likewise, who is gobsmacked when they are told that the two wealthiest Americans—Bill Gates and Warren Buffett—hold the bulk of their wealth in the nontaxed form of unrealized capital gains?

The composition of wealth also responds to incentives. And it's also simple enough for most people to understand that if the government taxes people who work and pays people not to work, fewer people will work. Incentives matter . . . Read More.

Skip aka Kirby - Thanks to President Barack Obama and his fellow Democrats in office, there will be many new tax increases for everyone in 2011.

The "community organizer from Chicago", while campaigning and wooing the votes of those who did not 'educate' themselves as to whom and what they were actually voting for, lied to you. In 2011 you will see that "Hope and Change" for what it really is.

The 'drive-by' media who are on the side of the leftists, told you every day, what a great president Obama would be. Well they also lied. Now we will all literally pay the price.

Let's hope by now, that many of the Obama voters have seen the light and who BO really is and what he wants to do, so we can attempt to stop some of the trashing of our country.

By voting for the right Senators and Congress members in the election this November is our only chance. If we don't stop some of this wreckage in November, we the taxpayers are in serious trouble.
"On or about Jan. 1, 2011, federal, state and local tax rates are scheduled to rise quite sharply. President George W. Bush's tax cuts expire on that date, meaning that the highest federal personal income tax rate will go to 39.6% from 35%, the highest federal dividend tax rate pops up to 39.6% from 15%, the capital gains tax rate to 20% from 15%, and the estate tax rate to 55% from zero."

"Lots and lots of other changes will also occur as a result of the sunset provision in the Bush tax cuts." "The result will be a crash in tax receipts once the surge is past. If you thought deficits and unemployment have been bad lately, you ain't seen nothing yet."
At this point in time I don't even want to guess what other surprises Obama has in store for us. This was the man who told us no more tax increases for the middle class.

He also said he was going to tax big business. What happened even before the election? Many companies began to downsize, which is a large reason for the current unemployment rate. Yet Obama and his leftists are still blaming George W. Bush for our economic condition.

Warning Label On U.S. Constitution

Difficult to believe but - Wilder Publications is putting a Warning Label on The U.S. Constitution book they publish.

Cato Institute
(From the Cato Institute) - Knowing of my interest in oddball warning labels, reader Clark S. alerts me to this $4.95 paperback copy of the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and Articles of Confederation, which contains the following advisory.
© Wilder Publications 2008

This book is a product of its time and does not reflect the same values as it would if it were written today. Parents might wish to discuss with their children how views on race, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, and interpersonal relations have changed since this book was written before allowing them to read this classic work.
A bit of Googling revealed that the same publisher slaps the same boilerplate language on other reprints including the Federalist Papers and The Great Heresies by Hilaire Belloc. Do they perhaps put it on all works composed before a certain cut-off date? Wilder Publications is described here as in the business of “publishing print-on-demand books (mostly self-help and public domain reprints).”

I am happy to report that the Cato Institute’s excellent pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution daringly omits any warning and lets readers take the Constitution straight up.

Obama - On His Few Trips To The Gulf Of Mexico

Obama Goes Down to the Gulf so He Knows "Whose Ass to Kick".

The President...just covering his own.

Obama Commencement Speech To High School Graduates In Michigan

The President who has been blaming George W. Bush for almost two years, will tell high school graduates tonight, "Don't Make Excuses, Take Responsibility Not Just For Your Successes, But For Your Failures As Well."

politicalticker.cnn.com
When President Obama delivers the commencement address at Kalamazoo Central High School in Kalamazoo, Michigan Monday night, he'll emphasize to the class of 2010 that he believes success is achieved through personal responsibility.

"Don't make excuses," Obama will say, according to excerpts released Monday afternoon by the White House. "Take responsibility not just for your successes, but for your failures as well."

"The truth is, no matter how hard you work, you won't necessarily ace every class or succeed in every job," Obama will say. "There will be times when you screw up, when you hurt the people you love, when you stray from your most deeply held values."

Mr. President, take some "responsibility" for what you have done. Do what you will tell the young graduates to do. You are responsible for our high unemployment rate - you have put this country deeply in debt - you pushed through a scam of a health care bill that most of us did not want - we remember your world apology tour telling most of the people you visited what a terrible country the U.S. has been until you arrived - and your inept handling of the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

EDITORIAL: FTC Floats Drudge Tax

Journalism can reinvent itself without government 'help'.

By The Washington Times - The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seeking ways to "reinvent" journalism, and that's a cause for concern. According to a May 24 draft proposal, the agency thinks government should be at the center of a media overhaul. The bureaucracy sees it as a problem that the Internet has introduced a wealth of information options to consumers, forcing media companies to adapt and experiment to meet changing market needs. FTC's policy staff fears this new reality.

"There are reasons for concern that experimentation may not produce a robust and sustainable business model for commercial journalism," the report states. With no faith that the market will work things out for the better, government thinks it must come to the rescue.

The ideas being batted around to save the industry share a common theme: They are designed to empower bureaucrats, not consumers. For instance, one proposal would, "Allow news organizations to agree jointly on a mechanism to require news aggregators and others to pay for the use of online content, perhaps through the use of copyright licenses."

In other words, government policy would encourage a tax on websites like the Drudge Report, a must-read source for the news links of the day, so that the agency can redistribute the funds collected to various newspapers. . . Read More.

Skip aka Kirby - What the government and the FTC want to do is tax on-line news sites such as The Drudge Report and other large and small internet news sites and blogs, and redistribute the funds collected, to various newspapers to keep them afloat.

To spin this politically, without the liberal newspapers and news shows to prop up the Democrats, they will find themselves without the help they need and have been receiving, to continue their government agenda. Another reason many newspapers are failing is due to the many young and not so young people who chose to receive their news from on-line sources.

The Democrat party cannot afford to lose these newspapers along with other left leaning organizations who "report the news" the way the party now in power, wants them to report it. But, many of them cannot compete with a growing number of on-line news sites and conservative radio talk shows. So...the FTC will 'level the playing field.'

Most conservative internet sites and radio talk shows are growing at a fast rate and now have quite a large audience of readers and listeners and are doing well financially. Many of the liberal news sources find themselves in financial trouble.

Pleasant Surprise - From A Recent Tea Party Rally In Douglas County Georgia

Rarely Heard Verse of the Star Spangled Banner

From Michelle Malkin's blog. Written by guest-blogger Doug Powers - June 5, 2010

"There was a Tea Party in Douglas County, Georgia on Friday. The main speaker was the wonderful Herman Cain. During a Q & A, a man named Lewis, who said he’s a former Marine, expressed concern that people always hear the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner, but not the rest of the song.

So, out of nowhere, he lit into one of the lesser known verses. He’s actually singing the 4th verse instead of the 2nd, but I thought this was a helluva nice job and very moving — and the crowd obviously did too. Now this is an American Idol."
By Skip aka Kirby - Here is the video from the above Tea Party Rally hosted by conservative radio personality Herman Cain. He had just answered a question from a lady who was concerned that the left wants the words "under God' removed from the Pledge of Allegiance.

Mr. Cain addressed the question and went on to the last question of the evening. The crowd was not expecting what they heard. After viewing and listening to the video I certainly was not either.

Helen Thomas - Please Just Go Away

From the mouth of Helen Thomas - "Tell em (the Jews) to get the hell out of Palestine."

Big Government - Once again the liberal media has shown its true colors! The White House media dinosaur, also known as Helen Thomas has called on Jews to leave Israel and move back to Poland and Germany. This anti-Semitic sentiment has no place in our public discourse.

Big Journalism - Helen Thomas, liberal icon and veteran White House correspondent for UPI and Hearst, owned up to her hatred of Jews this week when she declared that Jews should “get the hell out of Palestine!” and go back to Germany. Her remarks are only the latest and worst in her long history of Israel-bashing. They are also an embarrassment to the establishment Democrats who have lately been using Thomas to raise campaign cash.

Thomas has since apologized but her apology is not sufficient, considering her many previous negative sentiments against Israel. Her language is offensive, vulgar and intolerant. Helen, are your press colleagues calling you on this? The White House needs to revoke her press credentials immediately.

You know liberals, they are the "party of tolerance", unless of course tolerance includes criticizing their "dear leader", or exercising 2nd amendment rights, or self defense, or deporting illegal aliens, or wanting fiscal restraint from the government.

Helen Thomas is an American news service reporter, a Hearst Newspapers columnist and member of the White House Press Corps.

UCLA Legend John Wooden Dies

John Wooden, the most successful basketball coach in NCAA history, died of natural causes, Friday, June 4, 2010, at the age of 99.

John Wooden won 10 national championships at UCLA in the 60's and 70's. Coach Wooden led the Bruins to an unmatched streak of seven NCAA championships in a row from 1967 through 1973. His coaching greatness will never be matched. Over 27 years, Mr. Wooden won 620 games, including 88 straight during one historic stretch.

I wish I could have met him. But I watched and admired him during his years at UCLA. Aside from being a great coach, he seemed to me to be a very kind man. This has been echoed by many of his former players who went on to the professional ranks and also achieved greatness for themselves there. From everything I have ever read about the "Wizard of Westwood" he was held in high esteem by his players and the many coaches he knew and coached against.

One of the players who helped Coach Wooden and the Bruins achieve some of their greatness was Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Abdul-Jabaar said in a statement released through UCLA, "he set quite an example. He was more like a parent than a coach. He really was a very selfless and giving human being, but he was a disciplinarian. We learned all about those aspects of life that most kids want to skip over. He would not let us do that."

John Wooden - in my mind you will be forever remembered. You will always be missed by anyone who was able to witness your greatness and the teams you assembled and coached. Rest in peace.

Obama Goes Back To The Gulf Coast On Friday

White House announces Obama to return to Gulf coast on Friday. (This visit of course, will save us all)

The News-Star
"The White House press secretary has announced that President Obama will return to the Louisiana coast Friday, June 4, to inspect what progress has been made in regard to the continuing BP oil spill."

By Skip aka Kirby - So...what is Obama going to do on his return trip to the Louisiana coast on Friday? Aside from trying to project command of the situation while the oil continues spewing into the Gulf of Mexico. He must be paying closer attention to his polling numbers which show the public growing more negative with regard to the president's handling of the spill.

His administration did not respond to the crisis in the beginning and when they realized 'we have a serious problem' the president should have been reaching out for assistance from anyone who could possibly help BP put a stop to the leak. Instead BP has been blamed for the initial oil rig explosion which has caused the following oil gusher and environmental disaster.

Nancy Pelosi, earlier this week placed the blame for this disaster on George W. Bush. Nancy, let's first find a way to cap the leak before you play your blame game.

Ann Coulter adds..."oil is spewing from beneath a British Petroleum oil rig into the Gulf of Mexico at a rate of about 1 million gallons a day. There's no end in sight - although White House officials have made it clear their goal is to stop the leak before the midterm elections in November."

"The president finally went down to take a look at the disaster last week. To show his concern, Obama is thinking about returning some of the nearly $1 million the oil industry donated to his campaign. Just kidding - he's not returning any oil money."

Biden Defends Israel In Flotilla Raid

Joe Biden Defends Israel's Actions In Flotilla Incident

The Hill & JTA
"You can argue whether Israel should have dropped people onto that ship or not — but the truth of the matter is, Israel has a right to know ... whether or not arms are being smuggled in," Biden said during an interview on the "Charlie Rose," show. I am surprised. VP Joe Biden got this one right.

"Republicans have called for a strong stance by the Obama administration against any condemnatory resolutions by the United Nations on the incident." But...I have not heard any defense of Israel from BO.

In a Townhall column, by Mona Charen: "This week is a new low. Under Obama's leadership, the United States has capitulated to terror tactics and the despicable temptation to blame Israel. America has always been the one country in the world that reliably countered the bullying and grotesque double standards much of the world applies to Israel."

The UN is also a worthless organization and aside from just a few countries, most of the UN members would not be upset if Israel ceased to exist.

This is the video of VP Joe Biden defending Israel’s right to know what is on ships bound for Gaza. Biden said "they have the right to prevent weapons from reaching Hamas."

Republican leaders also defended Israel. "The United States stands with Jerusalem in its effort to ensure the safety and security of its citizenry," said Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.), the minority whip in the House. "We can’t forget why the blockade exists in the first place: to deny Hamas the weaponry and raw materials it needs to continue its rocket attacks in Israel, killing innocent people."

Gov. Jan Brewer - On Meeting With President Obama To Discuss The Immigration Bill

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer was recently interviewed by CNN with regard to her possible meeting with President Obama. Prior to the scheduled meeting between them, Gov. Brewer had asked to meet with Obama to discuss Arizona's problems with illegal immigrants. She wanted his help in closing the border. Apparently Obama did care to meet with her.

Since Arizona has passed their immigration bill which will go into affect this summer, and the White House has seen the polls of the American people and how they support the bill, Obama wants to meet with the Governor.

When asked in the CNN interview for her response if the President threatens to file suit to stop the Arizona bill, Gov. Jan Brewer said she will tell Obama, "we'll meet you in court."

To bad all states cannot have a governor much like Jan Brewer.

AG Eric Holder - Visits Gulf of Mexico Oil Leak

Shouldn't the top priority of the Obama administration be to solve the crisis and help those living in the states being affected by the oil spill, before placing blame for the leak is assigned?

Attorney General Eric Holder visited the Gulf of Mexico oil spill on Tuesday, as his department is already considering if a criminal investigation should be started. I guess this shows us that the Obama administration is really, really doing something to solve the problem? I don't think so.

Supposedly Holder met with attorneys from Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi and the state law enforcement officials from those states, the Justice Department said.

We still have no idea when the well will be capped and the leak stopped, but let's sue someone now even though we don't know that anyone is to blame for the explosion of the well. If and when the administration does assign blame to BP and others, how long will that take as it winds it's way through the court system?

Mr. President, how about first things first. Concentrate on a solution and a stop to the leak before jumping ahead just to convince those innocent souls who voted for you into believing that real headway is being made in this crisis.

The Kiss - A Very Nice Story And Very Nice Dog

The Kiss...

He had just saved her from a fire in her house, rescuing her by carrying her out of the house into her front yard, while he continued to fight the fire.

She is pregnant.

When he finally finished putting the fire out, he sat down to catch his breath and rest. A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, "The Observer," noticed her in the distance looking at the fireman.

He saw her walking toward the fireman and wondered what she was going to do. As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had saved her life and the lives of her babies, and kissed him, just as the photographer snapped this photograph.
